Image Representing our Definition of Being an American

We chose this image because we feel as if it represents the outlook people have on America. As seen in this illustration, the people are surrounded by cannons and smoke while America is in the background glowing. The cannons symbolize the bad conditions which these people are fleeing from, while America glowing in the background represents their chance at a new opportunity. Overall, this image represents what it means to be an American since it directly portrays the liberties, freedom, and new opportunities Americans have.

-Jayden V

As a team we believe being an American means having multiple opportunities, freedoms, and liberties. Being an American is seen as an escape to many different people due to their lack of opportunity in their past country. Overall, America is seen as a beacon of hope for arriving immigrants. Furthermore, we believe being an American also means having the ideology that everyone's uniqueness has a place somewhere in a united peaceful place like America.

-Jayden V

America is often seen as a land of immigrants. In the19th century, millions of immigrants came to this country from Europe. Many of them settled in New Hampshire and took up jobs in the factories and mills that had recently been built throughout the state. Immigrants faced many challenges, but their traditions and cultures helped make New Hampshire the way it is today.

https://moose.nhhistory.org/units/immigration-in-the-industrial-age/learning
Kye
