Albert Einstein once said, ‘in the middle of difficulty lies opportunity’. It is proven again and again that success is likely to happen in difficult times.
Benefits of Gaming

Nur Sarah Ain Natasya (1161100649)
In this era, there’s no denying that the game industry has overtaken society by storm by current generations. Gaming have been argued about for decades. Some people have argued that video games are linked to violence. However, new research shows that video games can be used for therapeutic purposes, exercise, stress relievers, positive interactive learning, hand eye coordination, and different types of patient treatment for people all around the world. Research today shows that certain video games can reduce fat and therefore promote weight loss.

If closely watched, gaming can be more educational than TV. For example, the child will want to solve the problem in the game because it interests them more then a boring story problem at school. Another positive effect of gaming can also be used as a reward for good behavior or good grades in school, which motivates the children. There are many cognitive skills that can be learn from gaming such as quick thinking or processing information quickly and the skill to think about a number of things, at the same time. In shooting games, the character may be running and shooting at the same time. Gamers who play action based video and computer games make decision 25% faster than other children witout sacrificing accuracy. Other studies suggests that most expert gamers can make choices and act on them up to six times a second and four times faster than most peopele, and can pay attention to more than six things at once without getting confused, compared to only four by the average person. Furthermore, gaming has many positive effects in student’s learning process and it also has benefits in real life. For instance, when you play a video game, it makes you think and increase your logic. There are many games that have strategic and puzzles genre, which is need to think to solve the problem in the game, it needs accurate of gamers mind in order to not lose. It will benefit in real life of students or children if they are faced by a problem, Apart from student’s learning process, game also can increase concentrating of mind and sometimes increase our languages vocabularies.

To sum up, gaming can increase children and even adults, self-confidence and self-esteem as they masters games. Gamers can transfer this attitude to real life and games that involve multiple players encourage themselves to work cooperatively to achieve their goals. Gaming can make people creative, especially children. People should recognize that we are now living in a high tech, sophisticated world and with a good selection of games, the positive effects of video games on gamers can be gained. Finally I think, playing video games is safer than having your teens do drugs, alcohol and street racing in the real world.

Factors Affecting Team Spirit in Group Works of University Students

Prepared by Sue Jing Ren (1171103633) and Chong Jing Ze (1171103633)

The lack of trust between group members is deteriorating to the cohesiveness of the group. The reason behind this is that the lack of trust would cause some members in the group to be isolated. If the leader of the group couldn’t place enough trust in their teammates, then he won’t be receiving their full support and cooperation. Hence, without trust, a team wouldn’t function to its fullest. Secondly, the group will fall apart if the members fail to alleviate inter-personal problems between them. There might be all sorts of differences between students from all walks of life, but they will have to try to stand united as one team, if they are serious in accomplishing the team’s goal. For example, if students are place into a more diverse team, they will have to be open to different kinds of behaviour and opinion. Failing to resolve inter-personal issue between members will only affect the team’s overall mood. Thirdly, the group will not be effective if it is a one man show, that is, the group’s work load is focused on one or several members. For example, the team’s work is done solely by the most capable members, who refuse to let others participate in contributing to the work. That would be a huge set back as others will feel unmotivated to participate in group works as they feel unneeded.

In conclusion, the factors affecting team spirit in a university group work are the lack of trust among members, the failure to resolve inter-personal issues, and the group atmosphere that resembles a one-man show. The recommended solution is that the group leader should take the initiative in keeping the team together as one. She should be crystal clear of the team’s goal and motivate her members to achieve that goal. If she was able to assign most of her group members to their expertise, she would be able to form a very capable team in accomplishing task, even though they are just student.

The causes of haze

Rachael Sia Wan Lyn 1171103108
Every year, we, Malaysia gets these special holidays, school holidays which makes all the students happy and all the teachers sigh. But what is the reason for these extra holidays? The seasonal haze. Haze as defined by the Oxford dictionary, is a slight obscuration of the lower atmosphere typically caused by fine suspended particles. But what causes this so called haze? Well the answer to that question is mans’ irresponsibility which has resulted in open burning, deforestation and government corruption.

The haze that we get in Malaysia is due to open burning. The smoke and dust particles come from slash and burn practices by farmers. All these airborne microscopic debris are released by the tonne from these practices and are blown from Indonesia towards our country due to seasonal wind patterns. But not only we are affected, other countries such as Singapore and Thailand are victims to this phenomenon too. Another issue that causes this seasonal problem is the deforestation of our forests. Malaysia is rich in rainforests but the inconsiderate money-faced people in our country has exploited these pure innocent forests to their own gain. These companies cut down century-old trees to sell of the valuable wood to get money without caring about what it does to the environment. Without trees the air will end up saturated with dust and other carbon particles which leads to haze. But why is this simple problem still running rampant? It is because of the corrupt government who will easily turn a blind eye on any of your wrongdoings with just a small fee. Many companies who have factories or plantations rather bribe government officers to be ignorant on their lack of proper disposal equipment than to actually buy the proper amenities. These companies focus more on earning more money without caring about the ways to obtain it. The government on the other hand love leeching off these people as they can get loads of easy money.

To conclude, the haze we know is all due to the irresponsible acts of man which has resulted in open burning, deforestation and government corruption.. As long as these people are not educated about the problem, they will never cease their realcitrate attitudes. Therefore, we as responsible citizens must do our best to educate ourselves and the younger generation about this issue so that we are aware about what this is issue is causing and affecting. We also should do our best to minimize our carbon footprint so that we can contribute out part to reduce the contributing factors of haze.

Life as a student athletes

First and foremost, they find themselves having to make two full time commitments, one to their lectures who expects them to fully commit themselves to the classroom and one to their coaches who expects them to fully commit themselves to their sport. In other words, they need to know how to manage their time for their academics and sports. For example, these student athletes need to set their mind when to study or when not to study otherwise, they will stress themselves out for sure. Secondly, there is no remorse in the life of a student athletes, neither lectures nor coaches cares if they’re too tired trying to balance the two in their life. Let me give you one more example, If they spent all night studying for a class, their coaches are not going to let you sleep in and if you spent all day working on your sport your professor won’t give you any slack, ever. Whatever it is, they really need to cope with this situation by giving extra effort in both and try to balance the two.

In conclusion, we should not underestimate these student athletes because they are going to be among the good leaders in the future. No matter what obstacles you have been through, the life lesson they learn from being an athlete can never be learned from anywhere else. To make their dreams become reality, they need to know how to deal with their time management in order to ace in both academics and sports.

               Ebooks Vs Printed books
I think there will always be regular bookstores. Too many people will continue to want a real book, so they can hold and then, if they like it, put it on the shelf, there’s something about the look of shelves full of books. However, e-books offer multiple advantages; they are easily readable, easily portable due to it size and shape, the use of controls with the e-book also seems to be very beneficial.

As an overall perspective I feel paper books, though convenient in some aspects as discussed, are probably more of a hassle to people who can’t afford textbooks. Money can also be saved with e-book. We know that in order to make our books, we cut down vast amounts of trees. Therefore, e-book provides us enormous advantages to enhance our environment. So yes I think it will replace the paper book. Technology will always move forward no matter what gets in its way. It’s too bad though. I prefer the paper books way better and I can’t imagine reading a whole book on a screen.

As the wise Malcom X once said, “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today.” Education is there to help light up the curiosity and a love for learning in every child. It is essential method of acquiring knowledge and skills so that these young passionate hearts develop into young adults who contribute to humanity. It is more than just learning from books. It is an effort of the older generation to transfer their life wisdom to their offspring.

What do we really learn from education you may ask? Well People learn basic norms, rules, regulations, and values of society through education. Moreover, high quality education enables us to lead a successful life, enhances our intelligence, skills, knowledge, and brings positive changes in our life. In contrast an illiterate person can find it very difficult to cope with some aspects of life. Benjamin Franklin explains it the best buy saying, “The person who deserves most pity is a lonesome one on a rainy day who doesn't know how to read.” In addition education expands our vision and creates awareness. It helps us develop a disciplined life and provides us with better earning opportunities. It enables us to know the world beyond our own surroundings.

In conclusion, Our whole life is the process of learning and gaining new useful knowledge, that’s really worth investing in. We should always remember that getting a good education is imperative in today`s society as it is a foundation of our successful future. But off course only if you believe and work hard you can achieve anything.

Fortnite Battle Royal is a free to play online game, so the barrier to entry is a good PC and a good internet connection. This meant you don't have to take a dime out of your wallet so anyone can play it. Which means parents don't have to waste money buying gifts for their children on Christmas or on their birthday. They can freely download the game in the computer and gift it as their present. This is what we call killing two birds with one stone. You don't have to spend any money and your children would stop whining about presents. The game isn't just free it also comes with something extra which is addiction. Which means parents don't have to face the torture and stress of their children's constant whining and bugging as the children would be glued to their PC and consoles screens all day everyday. They don't even have to buy them food as the children won't even notice their hunger as all their concentration is on the game.
In conclusion, fortnite is a great game that isn't just fun to play but free to play also. So I recommend everyone to play this game.
#Sub To Pewdiepie #Ninja is my idol

Water pollution is one of the crucial problems nowadays. A lot of garbage is thrown directly into the water. Furthermore, a lot of factories, mills, and plants release the untreated industrial wastes and other unsafe substances into the water bodies. Water is also polluted by fertilizers and pesticides which are widely used in agriculture. The contamination of the living environment leads to the deaths of the entire natural ecosystems. There are many approaches to garbage utilization but most of the poor countries just don`t have enough money to introduce such up-to-date technologies. Air pollution is another humanity`s challenge. The air we breathe has been contaminated by releasere of harmful vehicular and industrial smokes. Burning fossil fuels, nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, and chemical vapors are the major pollutants of the air. Sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide cause a situation called Global warming when the radiation is absorbed while the heat is prevented from escaping the atmosphere. Our environment also suffers from noise pollution which has negative effects on people and wild species.
In conclusion technological progress has made a negative impact on the ecological state of our planet. The work of factories and plants and the extraction of natural resources result in serious environmental problems that call for radical actions for environmental rehabilitation and protection. The influence of the devastative human activity shouldn`t be ignored. We should contribute every day to the preservation of our natural environment. Mankind should be sure that technological advances would never disturb the ecological balance of the Earth. Environmental problems should be handled by the united efforts of the global community. Nowadays, a lot of international summits, conferences, and presentations are held to deal with recycling, waste treatment, and water and soil contamination. We should always remember that environmental pollution is an incurable disease. It can only be prevented. So, let`s take care of the world that surrounds us!

Effect of internet

Ng Joe Win (1171103090)
Darren Chua Lik Yang (1171103128)

To begin, let's talk about advantages of internet. Internet enable us to communicate with others easily regardless of location, climate, time zone and etc through a lot social media or communication applications such as whatsapp, skype, tinder and etc. This type of communication is also call virtual communication. Apart from that, internet allow companies or any organisations used e-mail in business. The convenience of e-mail has allowed businesses to expand and communicates with their vendors and customers located all over the world. E-mail also increase efficiently between 2 or more organisations in their business. For example, 2 organisations get to discuss or solve their problem anytime through e-mail instead of travel abroad to others' home nation to discuss about it. It's also save time and cost. Other than that, entertainment is also another advantages of internet to users. Nowadays, we all have a lot of stress such as homework stress, working issues, family issues and etc. Too much of stress will lead to high amount of commit suicide case in a nation if they didn't deal with their stress with some effective ways. Therefore, the Internet gives everyone access to an endless supply of entertainment, with access to watch videos, watch movies, listen to music, and even play games online. In addition, the internet has becomes quite successful in trapping the multifaceted entertainment industry. For instance, one can download games through STEAM to enjoy games such as PUBG and Fortnite, one can catch some latest movies with minimum monthly fees by using Netflix, and one can also catch some free videos through YOUTUBE. While playing or watching games and movies, we get to temporally forget our stress and concern. This kind of act can give us a clearer mind to think about the solutions on our problems. We can also apply the moral value or techniques we learnt from movies on our daily life. As a result, we can live our life more effectively and happily by solving all the problems with these values and techniques.

However, internet also gain a lot of negative effect to users especially teenagers. Firstly, the disadvantage of the Internet would be people spending too much time on the internet. As radiation emitted from the computer, it could cause harmful to the eyes. Not only that, students are likely spent too much time on internet and neglect their studies. For example, when a video game is too strong to hold even an elderly person are likely neglect their important work, it is possible that students and children would lose their concentration on their studies. Some students would also divide their time to do homework but they would spent a lot of time chatting and playing video games.Secondly, the disadvantage of internet will be large number of people would vulnerable into scams. As many people are surfing in the internet, most victims would be targeted as fraud scams. It is because victims tends to do things that put them at risk such as clicking pop-ups ads, opening email from unknown people or signing up for free trials offer. Hence, these people are most likely going through tough and stressful time in their period of life. Not only that, most of the teenagers would love to buy new trend clothes or pants through online shopping but at the same time, they did not aware of the offers that seems too good to be trust. As a result, they were falls into scams easily.

Although internet impact our life negatively and also positively, but the negative impact it caused is not about the fault of internet. It's the behavior of the humans such as it's not about using internet cause scam, it's because the user have negative attitudes causes it. Therefore, we should not running away from problem by stop using internet. We should increase our knowledge on how to prevent it. As a conclusion, internet is clearly recommended to use as it's provide information, entertainment, knowledge that we can't gain during our syllabus and news.

The paradox of changing in behaviour
The natural tendency of life is to find stability. In biology we refer to this process as equilibrium or homeostasis,
For example, consider your blood pressure. When it dips too low, your heart rate speeds up and nudges your blood pressure back into a healthy range. When it rises too high, your kidneys reduce the amount of fluid in the body by flushing out urine. All the while, your blood vessels help maintain the balance by contracting or expanding as needed,
The human body employs hundreds of feedback loops to keep your blood pressure, body temperature, glucose levels, calcium levels, and many other processes at a stable equilibrium.

In his book, Mastery, martial arts master George Leonard points out that our daily lives also develop their own levels of homeostasis. We fall into patterns for how often we do (or don't) exercise, how often we do (or don't) clean the dishes, how often we do (or don't) call our parents, and everything else in between. Over time, each of us settles into our own version of equilibrium.

Like your body, there are many forces and feedback loops that moderate the particular equilibrium of your habits. Your daily routines are governed by the delicate balance between your environment, your genetic potential, your tracking methods, and many other forces. As time goes on, this equilibrium becomes so normal that it becomes invisible. All of these forces are interacting each day, but we rarely notice how they shape our behaviors.

That is, until we try to make a change.

The Myth of Radical Change

The myth of radical change and overnight success is pervasive in our culture. Experts say things like, “The biggest mistake most people make in life is not setting goals high enough.” Or they tell us, “If you want massive results, then you have to take massive action.”

On the surface, these phrases sound inspiring. What we fail to realize, however, is that any quest for rapid growth contradicts every stabilizing force in our lives. Remember, the natural tendency of life is to find stability. Anytime equilibrium is lost, the system is motivated to restore it.

If you step too far outside the bounds of your normal performance, then nearly all of the forces in your life will be screaming to get you back to equilibrium. If you take massive action, then you quickly run into a massive roadblock.

Nearly anyone who has tried to make a big change in their life has experienced some form of this. You finally work up the motivation to stick with a new diet only to find your co-workers subtly undermining your efforts. You commit to going for a run each night and within a week you're asked to stay late at work. You start a new meditation habit and your kids keep barging into the room. It is worth noting that radical change can work, but only under very specific circumstances. Most notably, radical changes work when we are forced to accept them permanently. For example, people will often radically change their behavior after major life events like graduating college, moving to a new city, starting a new job, getting married, having a baby. (Pro tip: don't try all of those at once.) These big changes lead to entirely new habits that persist for years. Why? Because generally speaking, it's quite difficult to get rid of a baby, get divorced, find a new job, move to a new city, and so on. The new lifestyle is permanent and so are the radically new habits that come with it.

" title="" style="box-sizing: border-box; min-height: 0px; min-width: 0px; background-color: transparent !important; color: rgb(58, 144, 239); text-decoration: none; transition: opacity 0.25s; border: none; position: relative; z-index: 5; top: -0.2em; display: inline; padding: 0px 0.2em 0px 0px; margin: 0px; height: 0.9em; width: 1.78em; border-radius: 0px !important; cursor: pointer; opacity: 1; backface-visibility: hidden; line-height: 0; vertical-align: middle; font-family: inherit !important; word-break: break-word;">

“Resistance is proportionate to the size and speed of the change, not to whether the change is a favorable or unfavorable one.”

The forces in our lives that have established our current equilibrium will work to pull us back whether we are trying to change for better or worse. In the words of George Leonard, “Resistance is proportionate to the size and speed of the change, not to whether the change is a favorable or unfavorable one.” In his book Mastery, George Leonard shares an interesting insight about change and homeostasis. Leonard points out that stability is comfortable and that means, by default, change is uncomfortable. Thus, it is not always a bad thing to feel some pain or discomfort or uncertainty when trying something new (within reason) because these feelings can be seen as a signal not that something is wrong, but that something is right. You are experiencing discomfort precisely because you are changing.

" title="" style="box-sizing: border-box; min-height: 0px; min-width: 0px; background-color: transparent !important; color: rgb(58, 144, 239); text-decoration: none; transition: opacity 0.25s; border: none; position: relative; z-index: 5; top: -0.2em; display: inline; padding: 0px 0.2em 0px 0px; margin: 0px; height: 0.9em; width: 1.78em; border-radius: 0px !important; cursor: pointer; opacity: 1; backface-visibility: hidden; line-height: 0; vertical-align: middle; font-family: inherit !important; word-break: break-word;">

In other words, the faster you try to change, the more likely you are to backslide. The very pursuit of rapid change dials up a wide range of counteracting forces which are fighting to pull you back into your previous lifestyle. You might be able to beat equilibrium for a little while, but pretty soon your energy fades and the backsliding begins.

The Optimal Rate of Growth

Of course, change is certainly possible, but it is only sustainable within a fairly narrow window. When an athlete trains too hard, she ends up sick or injured. When a company changes course too quickly, the culture breaks down and employees get burnt out. When a leader pushes his personal agenda to the extreme, the nation riots and the people re-establish the balance of power. Living systems do not like extreme conditions.

Thankfully, there is a better way.

Consider the following quote from systems expert Peter Senge. “Virtually all natural systems, from ecosystems to animals to organizations, have intrinsically optimal rates of growth. The optimal rate is far less than the fastest possible growth. When growth becomes excessive—as it does in cancer—the system itself will seek to compensate by slowing down; perhaps putting the organization's survival at risk in the process.” The Fifth Discipline by Peter Senge. Page 62.

" title="" style="box-sizing: border-box; min-height: 0px; min-width: 0px; background-color: transparent !important; color: rgb(58, 144, 239); text-decoration: none; transition: opacity 0.25s; border: none; position: relative; z-index: 5; top: -0.2em; display: inline; padding: 0px 0.2em 0px 0px; margin: 0px; height: 0.9em; width: 1.78em; border-radius: 0px !important; cursor: pointer; opacity: 1; backface-visibility: hidden; line-height: 0; vertical-align: middle; font-family: inherit !important; word-break: break-word;">

By contrast, when you accumulate small wins and focus on one percent improvements, you nudge equilibrium forward. It is like building muscle. If the weight is too light, your muscles will atrophy. If the weight is too heavy, you'll end up injured. But if the weight is just a touch beyond your normal, then your muscles will adapt to the new stimulus and equilibrium will take a small step forward.

The Paradox of Behavior Change

In order for change to last, we must work with the fundamental forces in our lives, not against them. Nearly everything that makes up your daily life has an equilibrium—a natural set point, a normal pace, a typical rhythm. If we reach too far beyond this equilibrium, we will find ourselves being yanked back to the baseline.

Thus, the best way to achieve a new level of equilibrium is not with radical change, but through small wins each day.

This is the great paradox of behavior change. If you try to change your life all at once, you will quickly find yourself pulled back into the same patterns as before. But if you merely focus on changing your normal day, you will find your life changes naturally as a side effect.

As a resident of Earth , it is obvious to us that environment pollution occurs everywhere around the world . Pollution disturbs the balance of our ecosystem , directly affect our normal lifestyle and unciously worsening our health . In fact , pollution has reached its crest due to overdevelopment and rapid modernization of science and technology. How we can done to reduce the pollution level ?

Organising campaigns is one of the several ways to increase awareness on environmental pollution to public. There are few activities that can be carried out such as planting. Trees can improve the air quality of the environment by filtering harmful dust and pollutants such as carbon monoxide and sulphur dioxide. Besides, by practising 3R’s ( Reduce, Reuse, Recycle ) we can save natural resources, protect the environment and save money at the same time.

Humans have caused pollution. It is important for the the whole community to act as a whole and change that will make the planet habitable in the years to come.
