What are the things you are passionate about in your personal life?

The things I am passionate about in my personal life are my relationships with my family. One relationship I am especially passionate about is my relationship with my boyfriend. My current relationship is the first relationship I have had. There are a lot of things I am learning about how to be a good partner to my boyfriend. I am passionate about learning how to control my emotions and making sure I respect my boyfriend’s feelings and opinions.

The place that I went to do my hour of contemplation was a lot of land that belongs to my parents. This lot is in the outskirts of the town that I live in. My dad has planted a garden and some trees. This is a quiet place for me to think about because there is never any noise since not many people go out there. I can also walk around since it has a lot of space.

What drives you in your professional life?

What drives me in my professional life is the students that I work with. I currently work with kindergarten students and one of my biggest responsibilities is helping them accomplish their goals. I am so proud and excited when I see growth and improvement in each student. For example, there are a couple students who came to school only knowing certain letters and now they can read! It really drives me in my professional life because it motivates me to finish school so that I can become a teacher and help many more students.

Do you think education as an institution is meeting the needs of children and adolescents? Why do you believe as you do?

I think that education as an institution is not meeting the needs of children and adolescents. I believe this because I feel that schools do not teach students the important life skills that they need to be independent and instead are only focused on telling them they need to get good grades/test scores. This teaches students that doing good in school is the only thing that matters. In my opinion, I feel like what students need more is being taught important life skills. For example, after graduating high school I realized I had never been taught how to make a strong resume or fill out a job application. We have to make sure we are also teaching students about different careers that don’t require them to continue school if that is not the path they want to take. Teaching students these skills and raising their interest into various careers will make sure each of them is a successful adult whether they go to college or not.

If you could have a magic wand and change anything about your profession, what would you change and why?

If I could have a magic wand and change anything about my profession it would be that every student would learn all they needed to know in the year that they spend in my class. I wish each student could learn how to do all the skills I taught them that year because it makese me sad knowing that the year is about to end and some students haven’t learned a lot of the content/skills we have taught them throughout the year.

Imagine that you are near the end of your life, what would you hope to have accomplished?

1. What would be the most important things to look back on?

I would hope to have accomplished being a wonderful teacher, wife, and mom. I would hope to accomplish making a difference in people's lives. I would also hope to accomplish my dream of making my parents proud of me.

2. What would you want to say about your passions and accomplishments?
The most important things to look back on would be the relationships I made and positive influences/experiences I have given to my loved ones and students. I would like to say that I never gave up on my passions and accomplished all that I wish for.

1. I would describe a perfect world to be free of harm and sadness. I would want every child to have a happy home and for them to feel loved.

2. I believe people learn best by working hands-on and experiencing what they are learning in real life.

3. I believe that the purpose of schools should be to prepare students to be successful adults no matter what path they choose after their high school graduation.
