I don't know what to do because she wants to join the resistance but if my parents found out that she is in the resistance they would be disappointed in me and I do feel like I am letting Lisa and my parents down for saying yes to her being the the resistance.

I don't know what to do.  Can you please tell me if I am doing the right thing by letting my sister Lisa into the resistance. Please respond as fast as you can. The guilt of letting her into the resistance is eating me up inside.

The significance of the sentences is that Lisa was talking about how she could hear the Germans planes and bombs going over her just like a bumble bee buzzing in her ears. It's also how the book started because it started going out of control slowly when the Germans planes and bombs going over them. 

B) The significance is that Lisa is trying to hide that she is giving people newspapers of what the Germans are doing because if she got caught giving people the newspapers of what they are doing she could get in trouble. So that is why she “leaped off, dragging her bag , ran into the grass and trees beside the stop, and finished throwing up. Then I sink down by my sack. I’m weak, I’m shaking. I think I’m crying, and my mouth tastes terrible”. She was so scared that one of the Germans caught her giving ther newspapers out and that’s why the streetcar and all of the people saved her life for not getting caught. 

C) This passage shows that the girl is happy with herself for getting back at the Germans for what they did to her parents. However, by getting back at the German’s she realizes that she is no better than them, for hurting/killing. She realizes that retaliation or “an eye for an eye” mentality makes her no better than the German people.

D) The significance is that she is saying how being Jewish should make her no different from anyone else and that it is not fair that she and all of the jewish people are getting treated differently because of their religion. because of this she is resenting her heritage as indicated by “The very name Eichmann makes me feel sick to my stomach.”

E) This is ironic because Rosh Hashanah is one of the biggest holidays of the year and most people attend services so it is a bad time for the Rabbi to go on holidays and close the  synagogue.

4) She decided to follow Stefan and Jesper because she knew Stefan was up to something because she overheard him and Jesper having a big fight a few nights ago. Lisa discovers that resistance doesn't want Jewish people in dangerous situations like situations where they can get caught. They also said “you see why we have to round up all the Jew and send them away.”
 
5) They were playing chicken with the Nazi soldiers.  

6) Three things that the Resistance has done is:

  • Leaflet panpflis  
  • Bombing the railroad
  • Blowing up things like boots and radio parts.

Lisa gives Sarah some food and she gets her dressed in a warm outfit she hoists her up on her hip with the laundry bag on her other shoulder. She thinks will she ever see her home again. They went outside and went in a streetcar and they headed to the hospital. Thye get to the hospital and Lisa puts Sarah down to sleep. LIsa and her father were talking about how she will pretend that her mother and Stefan are new admissions in the psychiatric wing. She asks what about Sarah he said she can stay with them but if there is a raid then she will have to go to a children's ward. Sarah Lisa’s mother and her all had to stay in one section of the ward. Her father, Stefan and Erik in another. Lisa can't sleep. The lights are so bright she wonders if this will be her last memory. She knows they want them all dead.

Lisa knows that the resistance is trying to arrange a way for them all to get over to Sweden and they all have to smuggle them all out of Copenhagen first. They will have to take them out to the coast then if they are lucky it will be a half hour crossing to sweden but if they go south it could take many hours. In the morning the jews arrived in the weirdest way when Lisa looked out her window she saw a long funeral procession moving toward the chapel in the hospital and about twenty minutes later all these black shrouded mourners were being ushered into their ward. Before Lisa was twelve she went to a jewish school once a week and she recognized one of the girls from her class. She saw Lissen catching her hand “are you all right” the girl said “i'm alive '' Lisa said “where did you hide” she said that she hid with some of her friends. They had spent lots of time together and ten of some other girls had their bat mitzvah ceremony together. Lisa’s Hebrew name is Leah. Her friend was saying “come on” from across the room “this will be an adventurer” they filed downstairs Stefan and her father joined them and they saw a long line of ambulances parked outside the hospital. One leaving every five minutes. They saw Erik getting into an ambulance ahead. They heard a German voice screaming “out”. Everyone starts to scramble out and into the bushes. Suddenly everyone hears someone screaming Lisa goes to find someone. She finds Stefan holding a flashlight on the scene.There was a young man standing over the bodys of his wife and his little girls and his little boy. Their throats were cut. The man was saying how it's better for them than being captured. A driver told them that there is a summerhouse on the other side of the road and the top of the hill. They will have to stay there until they get everything straightened out. When they get there the driver hands a key and lets them into the house. There are people living there who must be helping the resistance. The resistance is organizing the rescue. Lisa stays back until the last boat she tries to sound calm and control, but she feels like she is going to throw up again. Her father told Lisa that they need her on the boat because she will have to ject the children again and keep everyone calm. After Lisa and her dad are done talking they hear a child crying. The kid is hysterical. Then one by one kids just start crying. Then she hears Sarah start to cry too. She could tell that she was scared. They scramble down to the water's edge and suddenly Lisa hears loud footsteps and voices talking German. She reaches over to jesper to make sure he turns off his flashlight. They crouch down and she hears him click the safety off and put his gun on half cock she does the same. Jesper whispers to her and tells her that “ I'll go around and take care of the other one. The one going to the water is yours”. The sound comes from behind her and Jesper has done his part. Pop. her gun goes off too the german falls over. Then Jesper and Stefan carry the dead soldiers to the rowboat; they can't afford the bodies being found.
