DEATH:  quickly returns to heavens with ‘memory’ of form

SUBSTANCE:  Rooted in Liver Blood and Yin (unrooted – insomnia, timidity, no direction, dreams, etc.)

DEFICIENCY:  lack of direction and inspiration

A:  DREAMS:  1. During sleep – if unbalanced – nightmares, sleepwalking or talking, vivid colourful violent dreams; fear of sleep or fear just before sleep; out of body experiences; floating feeling before sleep, trances.  REM – dream sleep (connected to eyes).

3. Separates dreams from reality.  Children under 7, Shen unstable, Hun overactive – strong imagination, less distinction between reality and imagination; age 7 Shen matures, Hun more controlled.  

B:  INSPIRATION:  Subconscious, intuitive, creative aspect of mind – imagination, ideas, visions, lateral thinking.  +manic-depression.  

C:  VISION:  Hun goes to eyes in day, vision; at night returns to Liver – dreams (secret of golden flower).
