Shrewsbury Prison is a historical attraction that presents historical significance by sharing famous prisoners that were imprisoned as well as getting violently tormented whilst staying in these prisons. Executions were planned within these prisons for committing crimes such as theft or committing murder. Although, these executions that were put into place were purposely set to humiliate prisoners as well as torturing them nastily in public in front of massive crowds. A famous prisoner that was imprisoned was Ricky Tomlinson which he is known for this acting but he had caused an offence which led to a shock for the public. A BBC Series was filmed within these prisons named 'Time' which increases the popularity for visitors as a large amount of people may have watched that series so they may have wanted to experience the history within these prisons.

They have an option whether to complete it in darkness or a room that contains light. This benefits educational groups as it closely presents how the prison system operates meaning it resembles historical importance of this attraction. The personal aim is to ensure that students have a depth of understanding of the historical past as well as having an unforgettable experience with the attraction.

Shrewsbury Prison is popular during the summer holidays. This is because school children will have 6 weeks off from school meaning that families may want to take their children on educational trips and historical visits to help past that time. Throughout the summer period, it is a great time to visit this attraction because it is warmer and there will be more activities placed for visitors to take part in. This summer, the prison will have a state of the art planetarium from the 10th to the 18th of August. They also have a classic game activity from the 20th July to the 1st of September which includes Jenga, Hopscotch, Rope & Ring, Domino and Connect 4. This gives children a break from historical information and focuses on their main interest. Popularity rapidly increases during the warm period as visitors don’t tend to be attracted by the coldness that returns within the prison.

It lasts for about an hour and a half from 6:30 pm and the price is £30 for a Ghost Tour. From April to the end of October, the Night behind Bars is available for a 12 hour overnight stay which is a great Halloween experience in my opinion as it reflects the paranormal if visitors believe in that. The time for this is 8pm and the price is £69. Visitors tend to visit within the spooky season as Shrewsbury Prison resembles the hauntingly actions of previous prisoners that are clarified as ‘ghosts’. Witnesses have reported about the ‘Shadow Man’ in which it is believed that there’s an unknown blackened figure roaming through the attraction.
