A: These landforms promote population settlement because continents are huge parts of land that could benefit the population for growth, plant crops, and different temperatures.

Examples: Three examples of Islands are Jamaica, Ireland, and Haiti with many more.

A: Islands would promote population settlement because it is more land for people to inhabit. Additionally, the water all around it could be useful for some people by allowing them to fish and grow crops.

Examples: Three examples of popular mountains could be the Himalayas, Mount Fuji, and Everest.

B: I believe that Mountains inhibit population settlement because they are usually rocky with little to no good soil for crops. Furthermore, the angle that most mountains usually rise in makes it difficult for houses to be build in or to even be climbed on.

Examples. Some examples of hills would be the Shimla, Manali, Kasauli hills which are very popular.

A: I believe that hills promote population settlements because unlike mountains these are lower to the land around it which makes it enjoyable for people to live on top of and are not too rocky so crops could potentially grow there. The small hill makes it easy to come down or up for crops

Examples: Some Plateaus around the world are Tibetan Plateau, Yellowstone, and Massif Central.

B: I think that Plateaus prohibit population settlement because the are rather dry because they are more commonly created due to volcano eruptions. Additionally they make it hard to grow crops, because of the elevated land there can be harsher weather and water is not always easily accessible.

Examples: Three examples of some Mesas around the world are, Grand Mesa, Battlement Mesa, and Raton Mesa.

B: I think that Mesas would inhibit population settlement because it would be difficult to grow crops in a very elevated ground due to the limit on water. Additionally, if people chose not to grow crops and trade instead it would be hard to come up or down due to its very steep sides making it very difficult to bring things in or leave.

Examples: The Great Plains, Indo-Gangetic, Plain and the Pannonian Plain.

A: I strongly believe that plains promote population settlement because it is flat land which makes it easy for budlings to be build on for people to house under. Additionally, plains usually have good fertile soil which would be great for agriculture and the large land would also attract people to it.

Examples: The Pacific Basin, Amazon river basin, and the Michigan basin

A: At first this seemed tricky but the positives beat out the negative reasons of why I should not. I think that this could attract population settlement because the large pool of water would allow easy access to water. Of course, depending where the basin is agriculture could work as well as houses as long as the mountains around aren't too steep. This circular landform could also bring a quiet place for settlers where they could survive.

Examples: For valleys there can be many different types of them, some examples are, rift valleys, U-shaped valleys, and V-shaped valleys.

A: Taking in consideration only the shape of the valley and how it could attract population settlement id say it would inhibit it. Most valleys have rivers following through them although it would depend where the valley is located so not all of them have one. Additionally, the steep ends of the valleys would make it challenging to retrieve water upwards and sometimes these valleys can be rocky or too steep for crops, and house building.

Examples: There are very popular Canyons all around the world for people to visit and tour through such as The Grand Canyon, Palo Duro Canyon, and Zion National Park.

B: One reason as to why Canyons prohibit the population settlement are because of the high and far grounds which make it dangerous and makes it challenging for water access. Additionally, the rocky and dry land around isn't the best environment for any kind of agriculture.

Examples: Three lands that have this characteristic are Baja California, Florida, and Alaska Peninsula.

A: I think that Peninsulas promote the population settlement as it is also showed in the real world since Peninsulas have lots of settle residents. I believe this is because of the easy access to water since it surrounds the majority of the land. Furthermore, these lands are a bit more private than the rest of the land itself but incase of danger they aren't all alone.

Examples: Some examples of capes in North America are Cape Hatteras, Cape Lookout, and Cape Fear.

B: I think that Capes prohibit the possibility of population settlement since they are often rocky and are constantly eroding by the water around. It would be hard to plant anything because of the rocky surface and narrow land. These pieces of land are already small as of now and have unpredictable shapes. They would only get smaller as time went on and make the land unproper for a population.

Examples: Three examples of the biggest oceans are The Pacific, Atlantic, and Artic Ocean between many more.

B: Despite the great importance of the oceans they would Prohibit population settlement since they aren't stable at all, they are immensely deep, and would give us no place to plant anything.

Examples: Seas can be found all over the world but some very popular ones are The red, The Black, and The coral sea.

A: Seas promote population settlement because it is at the shore of land and it is where the connect. This is great for people because it means that they can live safe on land and have easy water near by.

Example: Three famous gulfs around the world are, The Gulf of Mexico, The Gulf of Alaska, and The Gulf of Persian Gulf.

A: I believe that Gulfs promote population settlement because they have lots of land around it and gives easy access to water.

Examples: Some Bays around the world are The Tokyo Bay, San Francisco Bay, and The Hudson Bay.

A: I think that these bays promote population settlement because they are right next to shores and land. Additionally, because they themselves are water and connect to other bodies of water would make it easy to access water.

Examples: Lake Victoria, Lake Michigan, and Lake crater.

A: A Lake would promote population settlement because it is a large pool of water which would make it easy to have water around. Additionally, there is land all around it for people to possibly settle in. With all this in mind, lakes would be good for residents and agriculture.

Examples: Some popular Rivers are The Mississippi River, The Amazon River, and The Nile River.

A: I believe that for similar reasons Lakes would attract population settlements because there is very close by land around it and the water is continuously flowing though which could cause less problems to people.
