         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><br></div><pre>The Wayúus are an indigenous people located in the northern part of Colombia and Venezuela, exactly in the departments of La Guajira and the State of Zulia respectively. The Wayúu culture is one of the oldest ethnic groups in this region and one of the most legacy left. You can not say exactly when this indigenous group began but it is estimated that since 150 BC. They already roamed the Amazon region and the Antilles before settling definitively in the northern part of South America.</pre><div><br><mark>-Location: </mark></div><div>The Wayú people live in the arid peninsula of La Guajira in northern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela, on the Caribbean Sea.<br><br></div><ul><li><pre>Language:Wayunaiki.</pre></li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong> -Foods tipicals: <br>.Friche:</strong>Typical dish of the Wayuu, the goat is split with meat, bones and viceras and then fried with salt.<br> <br>.Rice with shrimp:This rice tastes different because the shrimp are parboiled and dried in the sun to dehydrate them and <br>concentrate their flavor.<br><br>Iguana stewed with coconut: A very common dish in the interior municipalities of La Guajira.<br> <br>.Iguaraya: Fruit of the cactus, It has digestive properties and is the basis of juices and wine.<br><br> .Fried turtle: In rice, in soup and stewed.<br><br></div><blockquote> -Traditions: One of the most important traditions of the Wayuu is marriage.</blockquote><div><br> . Rites: The Wayuu have male and female shamans, who for their cures use traditional techniques: singing with maraca, use of tobacco, suction of the pathogenic elements, etc. -<br><br>. Funeral rites: The bones of the deceased are placed in a funeral urn and women must bathe the deceased<br><br>Two burials are made. Wayuu marriage. Through the confinement girls prepare for their passage to adulthood, so once they reach puberty are separated from other members of their family and locked for months or even years.<br><br> On the other hand the law of the Wayuu in relation to marriage uses the dowry which is given to the relatives of the girl and can consist of: Goats, Horses, mules, garments, etc.<br><br> -Culture: </div>]]></description>
