In this Padlet, create a post and share which artist and song you analyzed and the "deeper" meaning or larger message of your song. Think of this as sharing a mini-interpretation of the song - an expansion on the last portion of your Song Analysis Table. Your post should be in paragraph format and should be between 4-8 sentences long. Be sure to include your name somewhere in the post so that you will get your grade! Please also ensure to revise and edit your Summative. General structure: "I chose to analyze ______ by _______. I think the song is [adjective] because of its use of _________ (discuss the use of instruments, genre, unique lyrics, poetic devices, etc). I think the larger message or idea of the song is _________ because _________. Overall, the song is commenting on ________." Expand on these - guaranteed to meet the minimum!

i chose to analyze ''i wanna be your lover'' by Prince. i think the song is very passionate because of the use of repetition to show how much he cares for the women he is talking about in the song. i think the big idea behind the song is to move on from the bad people in your life and move onto better people and opportunities. overall the song talks about how Prince could treat this women better than the other guys and he just wants things to be simple and be happy with her.

I chose "Purple Rain" because when we listened to all his songs in class for the assignment it was the one that I liked the most and the one that caught my attention the most. I loved the base of the song and its rhythm. I’ve never listened to it before that class and it was so easy to understand. I also chose this one because this song was the last one he sang in live and this was just a week before passing away so I think it makes it a little bit more special.

I chose to analyze "Forever young" by Bob Dylan. After analysing this song I have deduced that it appears not to be a song about a father's hopes, but of benchmarks. That there are details in this song where someone would follow and some details of it may seem very strange or specified. But all parts listed in this song are things that people will encounter through life. The obvious use of this song is still a lullaby about a father's hopes.

I chose to analyze "I Would Die 4 u" by Prince. I think the song is Interesting because of its use of unique lyrics talking about how he is a messiah and how he would die if she just asked. I think the main theme of the song is he would do anything for a girl but he is the messiah because he said he would be her fire if she was cold and he says, "I'm your conscience, I am love" showing he is better than human. I like the song for its rhythm and not for its unique lyrics or the meaning for the song because even though you would do anything you need to set boundries.

It's a song that evokes strong emotions and is often associated with a sense of melancholy and hope at the same time. Ultimately, its meaning can be deeply personal and may resonate differently with each listener.

I chose to analyze "Hurricane" by Bob Dylan. I think the song is deprecated because of its use of racism and corruption on Rubin. In the lyrics, “We want to pin this triple murder on him,” shows racism since ‘Hurricane’ is black. I think the larger message or idea of the song is on racism because Rubin (a pro boxer) got accused of a murder due to his race. Overall, the song is commenting on the injustice served to Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, in Bob Dylan's perspective.

I chose to analyze "Yesterday" by Atmosphere. The song is introspective and emotional, blending storytelling in hip-hop. Atmosphere uses figurative language to express life's complexity, like "tangle up the strings of the puppetry." The song's music has a melodic, reflective tone, complementing heartfelt lyrics. "Yesterday" conveys the profound impact of nostalgia and regret over missed opportunities. The narrator reflects on a chance encounter and the desire to reconnect with someone from the past. It emphasizes the importance of valuing time and relationships, not taking them for granted. Overall, "Yesterday" is a commentary on the human experience, highlighting the significance of connections and emotions. It encourages cherishing loved ones and moments.

I chose "Closing Time" by the band Semisonic. The reason why I chose to analyze this song is because I've always heard it in restaurants all around the United States. I also did not know the band that wrote this song originated in Minnesota. The deeper meaning behind this song is that the lead singer wanted to create a song to start letting people know that the restaurant was coming to a close. When they first released their song in 1998 it became a hit right outside of the gate, they hit #1 most played song in America. The song was inspired partially by the lead singer's daughter, Coco. Lastly, I chose this song because i felt like it was a song that everyone has heard at least once in their life.

I chose “Tempo” by Lizzo. The reason for picking this song is because I am a fan of Lizzo’s music and this song stood out to me compared to the other songs of hers I have listened too. I think the song is an uplifting and empowering song because of its use of an upbeat sound and its lyrics about body positivity. The song came out in 2019 which was Lizzo’s prime and that was her prime era because she had multiple hits back to back and was prioritizing body positivity in her songs and all over her social media which made this song lyrics even more special. The song made even more buzz when the music video came out because some people didn't like the fact that Lizzo made a video of women of all sizes having fun and dancing. I think the larger message or idea of the song is about body positivity because Lizzo talks about making sure you don't care what others think and look how you want to look in the song. Overall, the song is commenting on challenging society norms and making sure everyone feels comfortable in their own skin.

i choose to analyze the song "Good as hell" by Lizzo.Good As Hell dropped in 2019 replacing truth hurts by lizzo on the #1 billboard. This is a personal favorite of mine. The song " Good as hell" is a great reminder to woman to have confidence. A man should not define who you are as a Woman. Don't wait for a man to spoil or take care of you. In the song, the singer constantly says "i do my hair toss, check my nails. baby how you feeling, feeling good as hell" that to me is a reminder to treat yourself and feel good within your own body. All together; have confidence, walk in the room with your head held high. This song came out four years ago and will forever be a reminder to me that i am strong and there is nothing that a man or society can do that I can't do for myself. Throughout this whole song, the chorus showed repetition as it was repeated a couple of times. Altogether this song reminds me that Woman are strong and don't get enough recognition for all we do. Lizzo is a great advocate for us and shows lots of positivity within her music.

I chose to analyze the song "Make You Feel my Love" by Bob Dylan. The reason behind my choice is my childhood. I used to go on long car drives every Friday afternoon to visit my grandparents. While I was in the car looking through the window I used to hear Bob Dylan as a background because my dad has been a huge fan of him forever. To be honest, I had never paid much attention to the lyrics but I've always really enjoyed the music. Knowing he has won a Noble Prize in the literature category, I thought his lyrics would be interesting to analyze (and I wasn't wrong). I didn't choose this song for a specific reason, it just stood out more than the others. In my opinion, this song is about himself and how he is trying to get someone to understand how much he loves them and maybe even trying to get them back after he messed up. Not having much information about the song online, I thought it was fun to get to my fully own interpretation. I really enjoyed the music and seeing how he mixes genres so different from each other as folk and rock are.

Sara Ibanez

I choose the word ROmantic because it is talking abut wanting to see is lover and how he can not wait to see her. I love the way that he uses piano, drums, and guitar, but they do not over take his singing. I think that the larger message or idea of the song is how he loves his significant other and he would do anything to see her. He is in love with her and misses her. Overall, the song is commenting on loving and missing someone you truly love.

I think that this song represents peace and love because, Prince uses a Rhyme of after during the chorus of the song "purple rain, purple rain.." He uses Laughing, then bathing, underneath the purple rain. I think that the larger message of the song is a beautiful form of young love. Overall the song is talking about loving someone so much and wishing the best for them. I think that this song is amazing because of its use of funk and a variety of instruments like drums, keyboard, guitar, and vocals. Prince also uses repetition throughout his song to make the song more catchy. I think the larger message of the song is that he loves his woman for who she is because he says "You don't have to cool, to rule my world" this line in the song proves that. Her unique lyrics and the poetic devices she uses in the song really tie everything together. Her wordplay and confidence really help to make the song stand out . I'd say the larger message behind "Good as Hell" is to remember self-love, knowing your worth, and not letting anyone destroy that. I think this song is amazing because of the use of vocals in this song and the trumpets that aren't that noticeable but if you pay attention you'll be able to hear them. I think the song is sad but meaningful because of its use of drums, the back up singers harmony, and the tone of the voice. The girl is singing the song with a passion. I think the larger message or idea of the song is about an ex lover she had, they might have cheated on her. I think this is because the lyric " was my heart so blind, I couldn't see? was I a fool to believe the promises you made to me?". Overall, the song is commenting on how she doesn't understand how someone can change who they are so quickly. The feeling of confusion and heartlessness. How the happiness of someone can turn into sadness.

i chose to analyze betty get money by young gravy. I think the song is very interesting because its use of references and sampling. Young gravy doesnt really take this song seriously and is basically joking on the whole song. He talks about his love of older women and references video games and movies in the song. He samples "never gonna give you up" by rick astley which adds to the unseriousness of the song. I dont think there really is a larger message but i do see young gravy using songs like this to build his fanbase and fame then eventually start making music that comes from much closer to his heart. overall the song is just him joking and having fun with his present wealth and fame.

I chose to analyze I wanna be your lover by Prince. I think the song is catchy and entertaining because of its use of guitar. It makes it sound like the song celebration. I think the larger message or idea of the song is that you should learn to move on because you will find better for yourself. Overall, the song is commenting on how prince would treat the woman better than the other men.
