On 27/9/2024, we have learnt about Ihsan.

• WHAT IS IHSAN?

Worshiping Allah with the awareness that one is in the presence of Allah, who is always watching and observing. Doing good deeds sincerely, solely for the sake of Allah.

• 3 Characteristics of Al-Muhsin (A person who possesses the quality of Ihsan):

Give goodness to others and to different parties.

Provide goodness to others and to different parties with sincerity.

Perform the first and second actions for the sake of Allah.

Allah acknowledges Prophet Nuh, Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Yussof as Al-Muhsin (the Doer of Good).

BECAUSE:

• NABI NUH (Prophet Noah):

He was very patient in his preaching, even though it took a long time (preaching for 950 years) and only a few followed him. Therefore, Allah SWT praised the patience he demonstrated. He is a role model for all preachers to follow.

• NABI IBRAHIM (Prophet Abraham):

He admonished his father/uncle but was then cast out.

He thought about how to preach to his people. Then, he broke the idols so that they would think and stop worshipping them.

He was commanded to sacrifice his son, Ismail (Ishmael).

• NABI YUSUF (Prophet Joseph):

He was thrown out by his brothers and bought by the wife of Abdul Aziz, who was a minister at that time.

He was seduced by Imra’atul Aziz (the wife of Abdul Aziz) and was imprisoned due to the false accusations from the wife of Abdul Aziz.

QUESTIONS:

• A non-believer who does good deeds sincerely without expecting any reward. Is that considered Ihsan (excellence or benevolence)?

- No, because he is a non-believer, but it can be regarded as Itqan (diligence or effort).

• Between Iman (Faith), Islam (Submission), and Ihsan (Excellence), which comes first?

- Islam because it is a pillar in this religion. And Iman comes after Islam to practice pillars of Islam. End up, Ihsan can be practice when we believe in Islam and Iman.

On 21/12/2024, we get to know our usrah members and our leader for SEM 2.

- share our background of ourselves.

- our facilitator shares with us about hikmah (wisdom).

1)HIKMAH (WISDOM)

- Derived from the word "حكم" which means wisdom.

- Example: Losing a loved one (There is always wisdom behind everything that happens).

- Through worship (by increasing our acts of worship), we will gain wisdom from Allah.

- Here is a verse from Surah At-Talaq, Ayah 2:

"وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجًا"

"Whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him."

Through piety (Taqwa), a person can see the wisdom behind the challenges they face.

2)NIAT (INTENTION)

- The deepest expression.

- Hadist about intention:

"إِنَّمَا الأعمالُ بالنِّيَّاتِ، وَإِنَّمَا لِكُلِّ امرئٍ مَا نَوَى"

This hadith emphasizes that intention is the foundation for whether an action is accepted or not.

- Intention for Allah to perform an action.

- Why intention is important:

= Intention distinguishes acts of worship from other actions. Anyone can do good deeds, but not everyone does them with the purpose of pleasing the one true Allah.

3)AMAL (ACTION)

- It must bring goodness to oneself and others.

- It is related to the concept of Ihsan: performing actions as if Allah is watching us.

- "إِعْبُدِ اللَّهَ كَأَنَّكَ تَرَاهُ فَإِن لَمْ تَكُنْ تَرَاهُ فَإِنَّهُ يَرَاكَ"

"Worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, know that He sees you." (Narrated by Muslim)

Things that lead to goodness are considered acts of worship (bringing wisdom):

1. Intention

2. Actions in doing good

3. Doing Ihsan (excellence in deeds)

May this usrah program continue to bring lasting benefits and goodness to all its members. It is also hoped that it will serve as a more effective platform in strengthening brotherhood and enhancing religious understanding among its participants.

To further improve the program, I believe that the approach taken by the usrah facilitators this semester has been very effective. Organizing relaxing games while treating students to food has successfully increased participation among usrah members, making the sessions more engaging, effective, and enjoyable. This also helps to strengthen the bonds between group members and allows them to get to know each other better.

Thank you so much, sr faci, for your guidance and efforts in making this usrah a success. Your presence not only made the sessions more enjoyable but also provided us with valuable knowledge and inspiration. May you always be blessed and have ease in all your affairs! 😊✨
