Carved by expert Greek sculptors, the statue is assumed to be a copy of a lost bronze original displayed in Rome. During his lifetime, Augustus did not wish to be depicted as a god, but this statue has many references to the emperor's "divine nature". The small Cupid (son of Venus) at his feet (riding on a dolphin, Venus's patron animal) is a reference to the claim that his family descended from the goddess Venus, made by both Augustus and by his great uncle Julius Cesar.

When magistrates retired they became senators and attended the Senate. Senate means the smaller upper assembly or group. He was the lawgiver and judge. Basically, one who conducts the court. These pictures show what the magistrates dressed like, and him possibly giving speech of his future plans. Their magistrates are like ours today, because today we have judges in our court and they have the responsibilities to sentence criminals.

It was the job of the senate to give advice to the two consuls. When Rome had an Emperor the senate still gave advice on governing Rome and the Empire. This picture shows the consul speaking at a meeting maybe proposing a law. They are all discussing, and debating whether they should propose it to the Roman citizens. They may argue or agree on many things, but at the end they all come up with something and agree with it. We can see how the Roman Empire impacted out lives till today, because our government today comes together to talk about proposing a law and arguing at times. But at the end, the government comes up with something after all the debate.

The Romans were split into different categories. There were Patricians, Plebeians and Slaves. The Patricians lived in wealthy homes and had slaves do their work for them. They were also allowed to go to the Assembly to vote because they were citizens. The Plebeians were not as wealthy as the Patricians but they were still considered as citizens of Rome. They were usually craftsmen or tradesmen and they worked for a living. They were also allowed to go to the Assembly and vote like the Patricians. Slaves did not have any rights, money, freedom, and were not citizens of Rome. Since, they were not citizens of Rome that means they couldn't go to the Assembly and vote. Patricians and Plebeians met at the Assembly and voted for consuls, tribunes and magistrates. Women and slaves were not allowed in the Assembly and could not vote. This picture shows the Patricians, Plebeians, and slaves. The Patricians wore wealthy clothes like on the right. The plebeians wore decent clothes as well. On the far left, The slaves wore very plain clothes with just sandals. These levels of the Romans is impacted to our modern world today because we have different levels like we have rich people, normal people, and people in poverty. But, the homeless people do not work like slaves or do labor for anyone.

We weren't the first ones to do that, the Romans were the first people to put people on their money. The Romans painted on portable panels, and today we have canvases. The Romans used paintings to create depth in a blank room, or for decoration. Roman painting achieved a high degree of naturalism through the artists' understanding of perspective and use of light and shade. The Romans painted many charming scenes from nature and portraits of children and beautiful young men and women. Religion, too, inspired their art.
