Ms. Malhiot had her students research the American Revolution. She then had her students demonstrate their knowledge of the American Revolution by creating their own collage using PicCollage. The students took an image and added in thought bubbles, text boxes, and in some cases even their own face embedded over the face of someone from the revolution! She then had them record some audio about that person. She also had them use QR codes so a reader could scan it with a phone, iPad, or chromebook, and hear the audio while looking at the picture.

Active Learning?

This is certainly active learning because the class can take a walking tour of the American Revolution. All someone has to do is grab their device and go up to each collage and scan a QR code to find out the information being presented. Students are walking around, using technology, and seeing the American Revolution presented in a creative way.

I love this idea very much. My only recommendation would be to continue to have students use this as an activity!
