Making their day better for example, they can bring fun and happiness. these clowns also took the time and effort to either put on a good show or comfort people.

It is a way for an individual to feel comfortable and express themselves, through a unique form of performing arts.

2. Yes. Before reading about the article, I perceived clowns as a nuisance to society. After which I quickly found out that performing as a clown requires a lot of energy, time and dedication just to prepare for shows. It is also a professional job that requires a high level of skill and techniques, which is not easy to master over a short period of time. Additionally, they brighten up moods and enable others to feel better.

1. I think that some challenges that buskers may face is rain. For Alan, since he performs in front of big crowds in the open, when it rains he may need to wait it out, or if he's already performing, he would have to rush to pack all things he's set up. Another challenge I think that buskers may face is the judgement from other people. I happen to be scrolling through the comments in the second video and I thought I wanted to quote what was being said; "The audience could be unappreciative or less generous."

2. I think that the work of buskers should be seen as an art form. It requires a lot of commitment and creativity, so I think that it should not be looked over. Being a busker is never easy as you need an audience who would appreciate and like the work that you put in to provide entertainment for people on the streets.

These stickers used phrases that were very Singaporean, such as "Anyhow paste kena fine". Her work should be considered art as she did this because she wanted to express her feeling that Singapore was straying from Singaporean culture.
Priyageetha Dia's "Golden Staircase" is an attempt to beautify an area. In her words, she did this to "beautify the area and provoke thought on what constitutes public & private space."

Chinese street opera is disappearing as many people do not seem to enjoy it as much as people used to. Currently, Chinese Street Opera only caters to the older generation people and not the younger generation. This is largely due to the lack of exposure to the younger generation. In the past, one of the main entertainment service for the people was the Chinese Street Opera. Hence, some of the older generation people still enjoy it. However, nowadays there are a wide variety of entertainment services for people like the television, games or social media. Hence, people nowadays do not watch the Chinese Opera as they prefer their own forms of entertainment. Most of the people that watch Chinese Opera nowadays are the elderly or foreigners who want to experience something new.

I think it is because most people have this misconception that clowns are scary and all they do is laugh and entertain people.People also think that clowning is a very easy job while art is a work that takes a lot of time and effort to produce.Hence i did not consider clowning as an art form at first .

My perception has changed that clowning is not just all about having fun and laughing. Instead it is a type of skill and commitment one has to have. After watching the video, i realise that clowning takes a lot of time and effort to get prepared. A lot of money also have to be invested in this job as props and costumes are not cheap. Furthermore, clowning also shows a person's professionalism as it is not easy to be happy and smiling the whole day. I also realised through Edmund Khong that clowning is an art form. Because through clowning he is able to to express his opinions of clowns that clowning is serious job and not something that could be taken lightly to scare others. Most important he mentioned that is a very therapeutic process for him when he does clowning. Hence i feel that it is an art form because it is his way of expressing himself about the way he feel about clowning

The only thing that keeps them going is their passion. They are getting old and very few young generations are willing to do this type of performances. The dialect usage in opera is more profound, making it harder for young people to connect and watch it as most teenagers speak mandarin
2. i would watch chinese opera as it is very new and interesting. It is very different from the modern performances we see online nowadays. We would be able to learn chinese culture through this performance.

1)Chinese Street opera is disappearing due to numerous reasons. To start off, the Chinese Street opera is being overshadowed by getai, in the recent decades. Getai is a chinese genre of singing, where it connects to a larger audience pool with its pop ditties and Mandarin Songs. A substantial percentage of the group consists of the younger generation too, making it hard for Chinese Street Opera to survive in the 21st Century. Another reason is due to a lack of income for the Chinese Street Opera performers. Due to a plummet in the audience numbers and other reasons, the entire crew of the Street Opera receive very little wage for their performance. These people also include musicians, backstage crew and performers.
2. To be honest, I am not too keen on the idea of watching Chinese Street opera. It is a little embarrassing, but as I am not very proficient in Chinese, I would have a rather difficult time understanding what the performers are saying and the plot, much less the Hokkien Dialect. However, I might go see a performance at least once or twice, as I am keen to listen to the music of the performance. Being an avid music fan of any sort of genre, I would love to experience the chinese version of music played during Chinese Street Opera, as I do find listening to music from different cultures extremely interesting. With different types of instruments used for different cultures, the sound of which these fascinating instruments produce are unique to their own Tradition and Culture.
3.In my opinion, I feel that a useful way of continually preserving Chinese Street opera would be to Translate the script of the Hokkien Dialect, into various languages suitable for Singapore. A one of the more impactful reasons for Chinese Street opera disappearing is due to the language barrier of the opera. If they were to perhaps hand out copies of translated versions such as english or malay, then I strongly it would increase and attract more audience to attend the performance.

1. one challenge buskers face is the weather conditions. when it rains, they would not be able to carry out their performance on the street. hence, they may not be able to earn as much money as they usually do on non rainy days. another challenge buskers face is criticisms and judgements. some people may feel unhappy as they think that buskers occupy and block the pathway of the streets. also, there would be people who would not appreciate busking performances and buskers would have to face their judgements.
2. yes, busking should be seen as an art form. buskers could express their emotions and thoughts through their performances. it also brings about different feelings and atmosphere to the audience.

1.Yes, clowning is an art form. It isnt something that is rigid and isnt something that requires one to follow a format as to how it is done. It requires creativity and expression which is something that i would consider to be part of art. Clowning should not be regarded as something that is purposeless as it may spark positivity and hope in others. It may also be a passion that someone wants to pursue. It may also provide a sense of companionship to others, such as through voluntary work. Hence, clowning provides a space of freedom for expression. It is an art form in my opinion.

2. At the beginning, i thought that clowning was just about entertainers showing up to birthday parties, performing tricks in front of children. However, clowning can be significant as well. One example is the clowns that dressed up as docotrs in the video. They were in a hospital in order to help cheer up the patients there. As staying in a hospital may be quite restrictive and uncomfortable, people who are dressed as clowns are able to go there to cheer patients up and can offer company to these people. They are able to put a smile to those who are in need of positivity which emphasises why clowning can play an important role in society for certain people.
