This part of the book showed just how much of an impact his father had on Eddie both negative and positive. Eddie begins shouting at his father that he forgives him and wants to let it all go. he releases all his anger into shouting at his father and learns to forgive him. he is able to forgive his father because he was able to see what his father went through to get to where he was, and to get Eddie to where he was now. as Eddie exclaims that "its fixed" he is referring to when his father would tell him to fix things at the amusement park, and in this sense, him "fixing" it is him forgiving his father.

the vision that Ruby showed Eddie showed his father acting in the moment and how his father truly was. although his father was extremely rough on him, he was still a person too who had his own problems in life. problems like when Mickey O'Shea had tried to sexually assault Eddies mom and Eddies father rescued him from drowning but caught pneumonia doing so. Eddies father made a lot of sacrifices and this links back to the second lesson cause it shows just how impactful sacrifices are. Eddies father was a strong man, even when he didn't need to be, and he seemed to have a strong will as well with how long he went without talking to Eddie.

This part of the book goes more into detail about how his father would neglect him and beat him. it was very often that his father would beat him, especially when his father was playing cards and his hand was bad. his father would use Eddie and his brother as a catalyst to release his anger by beating them, often drunken doing so. when Eddie wanted to watch him play cards one night, and instead of allowing him to watch, his father smacked him and yelled at him to stop breathing on him. after beating his children at night he would lay them on the bed and lash them with his belt all while his mother would be helpless.

This section of the book shows how Eddie's parents treated him and how it affected him throughout his life. his parents treated him very differently from eachother, his father was cold and rough with him and his brother while his mother was comforting and warm towards them both. his father would neglect Eddie in his younger years and would be annoyed with him more than anything else. his mother on the other hand would hand out kindness and love to her sons which wasn't always enough to fix the damage his father was doing to him. his father rarely ever showed any affection to Eddie, he barely ever held him, and his father would grab him by the arm out of annoyance and not love. although his father never gave him the attention needed, Eddie still looked up to his father.

Eddie started towards the ride that was beginning to collapse in hopes of saving the little girl. His last moments were spent trying to do a heroic act. he stumbled towards the ride launching himself underneath the death trap to rescue the little girl. he didn't know if he saved the girl because it all went black after the ride fell.
