Of course people hear about it, but it becomes somewhat desensitized because not many people see actual images of it happening.  For me seeing old images like this, from years ago, I get an eerie feeling. Deforestation is an actual problem in a lot of places in the world now. I bet a lot of people see this and wish we could go back in time and not be so careless with the amount of trees and natural landscape we carved away.

It reminded me that all the small things that I may stress over or worry about are, in fact, only small things that don't matter in the long run. It is very easy to get caught up in the fast pace of life. I think it's important to give yourself a reset that will ground you back to reality. This photograph was able to do that for me. I especially like that the photograph features people next to the massive tree for reference of just how big it actually is.

Apparently, the colors were painted on. If you look close enough, you can see how the colors are not completely in the lines and somewhat translucent in some places. I thought it was so interesting how someone had painted it. It made me look at this photograph in an artistic lens. It reminds me of a quote from Marcus Aurelius, "Everything we see is perspective, not the truth." Someone painted the colors from their own vision of how it might've looked but, no one knows what the colors actually looked like.

The piece is meant to be enjoyed visually without the glare from the glass in front of it. Nonetheless, we get a visual of what appears to be a yard with a white fence surrounding it. We also get to see a tree in the front, which takes over the majority of the frame along with its branches. The simplicity of the piece is what attracted me initially, and the fact that I had to change my position to get a better look/perspective was interesting. The story about nature it conveys me is  that It kind of gave me the idea of how we are so busy looking down and doing our everyday things it does not give us the opportunity to look up to see how beautiful the view is and how mood changing it can become. I selected this piece because although it does look like there is so much going on, I still find it a beautiful piece.

The large hole or blank space reminds me of a goblet cell. We dye cells in the human body with dyes that will produce similar coloration. Perhaps we are not so different from the trees after all. When we take a deeper look, we really are just a lot of cells clumped together to create something amazing. We and the trees are living and breathing. From one scientific study to the next, we are not that different you and me. From the trees to the bugs, to the birds, and to the stars in the sky. Perhaps we are all one of the same when we really look deeper.

The ground is lying full of felled and broken wood, which makes this forest look a lot more desolate. Judging from the age of the cut wood, these pine trees are all of different ages, and some of them look very old. The layout of the picture is generally of upright pine trees, and generally of chopped down trunks. This gives me a visual sense of contrast between the original forest that was once so beautiful, and the destruction of this beautiful natural environment because of logging. These felled trees are taken away to factories to provide production. As the demand increases, more and more forests are being deforested indiscriminately. I have read some research studies that trees are extremely important for nature conservation because they prevent natural disasters such as dust storms and tornadoes. Trees can also clean the air. This has led me to think about nature. Should we let these natural resources serve us constantly or should we protect them from harm?

Only inches in size, the original slide of this image, although majestic, could also be construed as dull and lifeless. 
With the steadiest of hands and finest of detail, the image was hand painted in attempt to capture the beauty and color of the moment.
As we shine light through this work of art, we can now appreciate the meticulous efforts offered for the viewer to visualize the vibrancy of the scene.
But it is not until you see this image enlarged exponentially, do you feel as if you have arrived in the Adirondacks, just feet away, in the moment this photograph was taken. 
Luckily, thanks to the UA Center for Creative Photography, you can visit this moment in the trees, and many more.

This was by far my favorite photo in the CCP exhibit. It reminds me a lot of back home. Specifically the Santa Cruz mountains. I love driving over the hill to go on hikes early in the morning. The feeling of the cool breeze in my face while I walk my dogs and have my mom with me all rushes back when I see that photo. It is so vivid. I loved hearing about the backstory of the photo. Turns out the colors were painted on, which you can see closely in person. The one thing I love most about photography is how seeing those images takes you directly back to how you felt in that memory and time. When I look back at photos of me with my friends I remember how happy I was and what we were doing and laughing about at that time. Same goes for this photograph. Even Though it is not my own personal photo it reminds me of a memory that I will always love. Going on hikes with my mom and the calm feelings I had during that will always be a great memory. Because of this photo it takes me back to a loved memory.

It is a black and white image of cherry blossoms. The black and white coloring stood out to me the most as cherry blossoms typically give off a very vibrant and lively feeling. Instead, this image gives off a darker, more mysterious feeling. While I have never seen cherry blossoms in person, I have seen many pictures of their bright colors and have never seen them in a black and white filter. I think the absence of these colors allows the audience to view cherry blossoms from a deeper perspective, allowing them to contemplate the true meaning behind them. The story of nature that this image conveys to me is the depths and intricacies of nature. The layers of trees and intertwined branches suggest the complexity and beauty of life.

This image stood out to me in terms of science and art. I was first draw to it because of I love neutral colors and modern styles. I feel like the inside of this tree gives off a sort of modern, clean line look. After my initial draw to the image, I became so fascinated with the complexity. I observed closely how the rings closest to center are perfect circles then they slowly get more wavy. Prior to visiting this exhibit I never really thought about how amazing trees are and how the rings form. Visiting this exhibit with the class was such a wonderful experience. It truly opened my eyes to new things and the beauty of trees and gave me a new appreciation.

This image was one of my favorites, I had a couple that I had in mind and that I had taken pictures of but this one in particular caught my eye. When I first looked at this tree, I thought there was too much light ton it and it was causing a glare, so I stared at the lower part of the image. The first thing I noticed was the hat, it immediately made me think how this tree "housed" someone whether it was a quick break or a picnic on a tree. It made it feel very homey. I then moved angles so I could look at the top of it and that’s when I realized most of that light was coming from the actual picture itself, the sun is beaming through the branches. I was in awe, the way the image was captured and the way it made me feel was amazing, I love the sun! I could never live somewhere where the sun doesn't shine on most days. I had a very artistic view when looking at this image. I think it’s important to have this eye and this type of connections. Pictures are worth 1,000 words.

I think this image is very powerful in the sense that it connects humanity with nature and allowing that connection become one. The feeling i got with this image was light is so strong, that nowhere may be a dark place.

The “lens” in which I saw this image was both from the artistic and scientific perspective. I thought it was considered artistic because of the idea of capturing the natural beauty of the tree and landscape as well as the light from the sun adding light and shadow. From the scientific perspective, I thought about the environment around the tree and how the tree grew. I noticed that some of the roots of the tree were exposed and protruding out of the rocks and ground which shows that the ground was eroding in that area. Another thing that caught my eye was the glare of the sun peering in between the branches of the tree, which made me think of the process of photosynthesis and how plants like trees need light energy as well as water and carbon dioxide to produce oxygen and glucose.
