Diana disagrees and tells him that just because she has disabilities doesn't mean that she is not as smart as us in fact she is more smarter than us you just don't know it. Diana gets really mad at the doctor. Teachers treat the kids in room H-5 like baby's just because of there disabilities. They give them green snow flakes instead of blue because they don't think they know what color snow flakes are. But they just don't know how smart Melody and all the kids in room H-5 are.  We also meet a character named Mrs. V she is Diana's friend. She is so careful and loves Melody so much. Diane and Chuck would have conversations almost every night about the baby. Diane would get nervous that the baby would be born with disabilities too. Once she was born, they named the baby Penny. Diana never heard her so Ollie ended up not making it. When Melody turned 8 years old Melody's parents got her a dog . Melody named the dog butterscotch. Melody and Butterscotch have a really good bond. Butterscotch is really kind to Melody and cares about Melody. Diana tells Melody that she is going to have a baby. Diana and Chuck are worried that the baby that the baby is going to be like Melody. But it turns out the baby is NOTHING like Melody, her name is penny she is as perfect as a copper. Melody's teacher reviews the alphabet every day and plays a  CD of nursery rhymes Melody gets really annoyed because she already knows the alphabet and dose't want to listen to nursery rhymes. She doesn't know how to tell the teacher so she throws a tantrum. Know one can stop Melody so the teacher calls Diana and tells her she needs to come then Diana and the teacher get in a big fight. Diana stands up for Melody and tells the teacher that Melody is angry because every day Melody has to listen to nursery rhymes and review the alphabet and she doesn't need to review she is smarter than all of us so intelligent you just don't think that. It is very hard for Chuck to understand Melody I think that because Chuck doesn't spend that much time with Melody. Melody gets a electric wheelchair and is so happy because she doesn't have to have someone wheel her around. She is feeling like Freedom here I come! She finds out that she gets to go into classes with normal kids in it throughout the day, Ex: Music and English. Everybody in room H-5 came wheeling or walking in to the Music room. All the kids in the music room were either laughing, staring , or mimicking.  Melody finds someone to sit next to in music and she is really happy, because the girl named Rose seems to understand Melody.  Through out the rest of the music class Rose and Melody seem to get closer and closer together. There is also mean girls named Claire and Molly they don't know how to accept peoples differences.
Melody gets her own aide named Catherine.  Catherine treats Melody  normally, like she was just any other kid.  Melody and Catherine both have the same 2 favorite colors. Catherine helps Melody tell the teacher what she wants to say. This makes me think that Catherine is a very kindhearted character and cares about all people despite their differences. Melody was the only one who got all of the questions right! But every one thinks Catherine was giving Melody the answers. Melody felt grumpy and upset but Mrs. V didn't let that happen. I wonder if Mrs. V ever did a sport because she kept on pushing and pushing Melody while studying to be the best she can be. She even called Catherine to let her know she can quiz Melody at school. When Melody gets to the tryouts for the wiz kids Molly and Claire say  she can't be on the team. If i was Melody I would want to say it doesn't matter what you look like on the outside have a disability or not. We should treat everyone the same. I think Melody would want to say this too. Everybody thinks that they got all the questions right. But Melody got a perfect score. Melody's team wins one of the many competitions. Now she is about to compete for the finals. I think they are staring to realize how much they needed Melody.
