I want to represent you, your ideas, and your opinions. So I will be informing you about issues in our community. First, our school lunches. I am sure that you all have problems with the lunches at school. Many people end up just eating chips and soda for lunch. Not only are this items more expensive, but they are also very bad for us. If you vote for me, I will make a change in the lunches and lunch prices at our school.

Next, the topic of our cafeteria. First of all, it is way too small. I usually get pushed around just trying to get in and out! The tables are tiny and the space in between them is even smaller. Lunch is supposed to be a time to relax and recharge, but lately it’s just been hectic. In addition, the cell service is bad. Lunch is the only time we are allowed to have our phones out, so it would be great if we could actually use them. As your representative  I would move our lunch room closer to the front of our school. I would also lower the prices of food. Finally, I will talk to Mr.Sikes about make the food better tasting and more nutritious.            

Lastly, I will be informing you about the recycling system in our community. At the Pike Road Town hall, there is an area to recycle that looks like this:

But it has not been functioning as it was intended. First of all, it is always overflowing. This means that people don’t even bother to put their trash in the trailer, they just dump it next to it. I will make sure that the trailer is emptied more often to make sure this never happens again. In addition, we can’t recycle glass. This is very bad for the environment because glass takes a very, very long time to decompose (1 million years). This glass can be harmful to the environment and also hurt animals.

My name Is Presley Wood today i will be explaining to you a few issues that i see around pike road and why i think they are important. I live in pike road alabama as you may already know i attend PRHS and i love my community . It provides great opportunity for everyone and always gives us a way to improve . We always come together as a community and change the way we need to handle things around our community. I would like PRHS to come together and solve some of these important issues that are happening at our school. The first issue that is very important to me is the lunch prices for PRHS . I think this is important because everyday people waste some of their hard earned money or their parents . Some kids think to themselves that they maybe should not eat because the prices are way to expensive . This should never be a thought in anyone minds and i think that we could change that. If we could all come together on this issue our school could be changed . Another thing that we could change about pike road is the sports funding and divide it evenly among all the sports. I am part of the PRHS softball team and we have no funding going to softball . Everyday we practice with bad balls and we have no money to buy and new team equipment. We should divide all the money going to pike road sports evenly. We all know football brings in one of the biggest crowds which is why so much money is donated and funded into the football sport division instead of sports like softball, tennis ,track and cross country.  If all the money going to sports in general got divided equally it would make it so much easier for us and other sports to practice everyday . We shouldn't have to beg to get more money to buy the things we need to grow as a team. We could all stand on this issue sport player or not and change the way money is divided throughout the sports. Another issue that i think is important at PRHS is that we have no BREAK! I believe we should have break for the ten minutes we stood to get our minds of all the stress in our day . Without break we never have not even a slight break other than lunch that is filled with filling your mouth filled with food so you would have enough time to talk to your friends. We should all come together as one community at PRHS and change the minds of our principals and teachers and allow us to have break. These are my arguments i made about important things i would like to change at PRHS . Thank  you for your time.

 Lunch food:We are going to be talking about lunchroom food.We are having a problem about having bad lunch.We are getting not so good lunch food from the cafeteria and it is now become a problem because kids are now eating more snacks than lunch food because if that is becoming a problem then nobody is going to there lunch.We can fix it by trying to have better lunch food to have for lunch and make sure that the food is not bad or stale.

Bathroom: We are going to be talking about the bathroom.We are having a problem in the bathroom because whenever I go to the bathroom I will see kids not using bathroom but staying as long as possible to skip there worse class.We can fix this by asking the teachers to have somebody to go in there to watch the kids and make sure that they are no trying skip class.

Pollution includes any contamination of the air, soil, water, and land. One main factor of pollution is rapid urbanization and industrialization. Since Pike Road is the fastest growing municipality in the state of Alabama, we really need to work hard to help regulate our pollution levels. Since it is hard to stop pollution from the growth of our city, I advise that all citizens work themselves to stop individual pollution. These sort of actions would be like throwing trash out of your car window onto the side of the road. I highly encourage that our citizens in Pike Road work to decrease the pollution levels in the town.

Recycle means to convert waste into useful materials. As a representative, I am working to get more recycling centers in our town. Currently, we only have one center and it is located at Town Hall. I would like to make it easier and more accessible to recycle. You can recycle plastics, paper, metal, and cardboard. Recycling is one of the main solutions to pollution. When you recycle you are protecting the environment. If you think about it, one metal soda can could eventually be turned into bleachers in a stadium. Plastics could be used to build new playgrounds for our children. So when you have empty cardboard boxes lying around, bring them to a recycling center where they have a bright future and potential for our town. 

Lastly, the conservation of energy is something that impacts individuals and our environment. Saving energy can be as simple as turning off the lights in your house when they are not in use. You can also turn off the faucet when you are brushing your teeth. Since we have a growing town there are steps we can take when building a house that will save energy in the long run. We can install insulation that will help regulate the temperatures in the house. A way to save energy when living in a house is to easily lower your water heating expenses by not taking thirty-minute showers. If everyone is able to just get in and out of the showers, you will help yourself and others. I would like to advise the people in this town to take steps toward conserving energy. This will end up benefiting everyone in the town.

In conclusion, this letter was sent to you to so you could see what issues were my main concern. I believe that if we work as a community we can find solutions to some of these problems. If everyone makes simple changes to their lifestyle our environment would be much cleaner, safer, and overall better place. I believe it is all of our responsibility to work toward making Pike Road a more desirable place.

The issue I am addressing is about break. This issue is important because break is good for us. We need break because we have so much work. We need a break so we can have a snack and talk to our friends. Every since break stop we didn’t have a chance to eat because some teachers didn’t allow us to eat. I will have break back by talking to the teachers and ask them to bring it back.

The issue I am addressing is the lunch prices. This issue is important because they need to lower the prices of lunch and etc. The prices are to high. They need to lower them because some people can’t afford the prices. If they want a drink its $2 and at the gas station it $1. Ex: Chick-fil-a sandwiches at the school $5 at chick-fil-a $3.65. I will make the prices lower by talking to the lunch people and work things out.

  My next issue i'm about to address is school Lunch Prices. Lunch here is very expensive. Some kids can't even afford the lunch here. I feel like the lunch room should make a separate small lunch for the students that don't have money in there account or parents might not have enough money. Like in lunches, a small water bottle and a turkey sandwich or maybe a bag of chips. At least something to feel them up for the rest of the day. 

My last very concerning issue is Bullying.I hate the word Bullying. Bullying needs end right now. So many kids have taken there life just for bullying.I've gotten Bullying probably 5 or 6 times. If your getting Bullying, do what I did told on them. Be a snitch when it comes down to Bullying. You should not deal with Bullying yourself , it could end very wrong sometimes.

    Citizens of Pike Road

I have noticed some problems around the Pike Road School System. The first problem is the lack of room. We are a growing town and school but there isn’t enough room for everyone. A few classes have to move around or are not in a classroom. This affects the way we learn. If we are in an organized classroom, we take in the knowledge and feel safe. The second problem I have noticed is that students are disrespectful to their teachers. Students goof of the teacher's classroom while the teacher is giving instructions. People are extremely rude to the Chinese teachers. Students are not closing their computers, not listening, and disobeying. We represent our school and our family. When we are mean and disrespectful, the Chinese teachers are going to go back to china and talk about how American students act and are so bad. The third reason is the lunch that is given to us. The lunch is over priced, under portioned, and unhealthy. Students dislike the lunch so much that some students eat a bag of chips and drink coke. This could lead to diabetes and other diseases. The school lunch is under portioned. The lunch lady says that there is only her cooking. She limits how much food is given to us and, we have to pay a lot for a little food. Students don’t get good grades and enough energy to learn. The way we are going students will be obese, and it won’t be good. These are some of the problems I have noticed with Pike Road Schools.

    hello, today i will address three critical issues in our group.. three issues important to me are testing time during mentoring, not having affordable and healthy lunches, and a break time outside. these are things that could be fixed if we worked together to make a better school. 

in the first place, having solid and reasonable lunch choices. in our school lunch room, we are served unfortunate and costly food. for instance, they sell soda and coffee to young people which would influence their rest on account of the caffeine and sugar. this would prompt them not developing to such an extent and tiredness at school. how frequently have you had a feeling that you expected to nod off in class? we have to fuel our bodies with food that would give us the vitality to get past the day yet not influence our rest. a balanced dinner would give you enough vitality and keep you solid. yet, the school doesn't appear to mind. they serve like the pizza, chicken strips, french fries, and chicken wings that we serve here. sometimes is fine however consistently could cause medical issues or heftiness. also that the nourishment isn't that incredible tasting either while it is exceptionally costly. for lunch, a primary and a side cost around $3-4 which is as of now excessively however in the event that you need a pop or different snacks since you are as yet hungry it includes. an ordinary pop in a candy machine is $1 yet here it is around $2. i'm requesting that you take a glance at the lunch menu and enable us to have solid and reasonable snacks to fuel our bodies. 

next, having time in mentoring to test. our school has said that we couldn't test amid mentoring on account of couple of students cheatring. the greater part of us were mindful and fair however we must be rebuffed in view of their mix-ups. We have around 9-10 control power focus areas and around 4-6 additionals in each subject to take in the school year. that implies we have around 40 tests only for power focus areas. we don't have a abundance of time to take tests since we are working diligently on projects which are 70% of our grade. prior to this rule, we could take tests in any subject during this time and pass what expected to. presently individuals are not passing because of n result of not having time. i trust we should give students a chance to test during mentoring with better supervision or appointed seats where they just have their computer. during the testing that the student require scratch paper, the teachers could give out paper or check if the student paper has anything on them.

    

finally, having a break time outside. break was a period you could unwind, eat your snack , and talk with your friends. when we eat inside you might not have your friends with you or they sit far away and can't move seats which would lead us into talking more in class. this wouldn't prevent everybody from talking yet it would diminish the sum we talk in class. i trust we should have break back. 

all in all, the issues important to me are better and more healthier snacks, testing time in mentoring , and break time. i believe that if we work together we can influence this school to be as well as can be expected be. it would be ideal if you vote in favor of me as your delegate to roll out an improvement. thank you for you time.

 My 2nd issue is the lunch prices. They are way too high like a chicken sandwich is 5.50 for just the sandwich. Another thing a pizza is 4.00 for only pizza, and one drink cost 2.00. These lunch prices need to lower at least a dollar short because “ they think that money grows on trees don’t you” says mom. People will buy more things i it were lower.

 My final issue is the lunchroom space. The lunch room is a hallway/lunchroom/classroom. The lunch room is too skinny sometimes people can’t even sit with their friends because all the space i gone. The lunchroom is not even decorated with actual paint. It just gray plain gray. The lunchroom needs to be adjusted with a wider space to make at least where every single person has a seat. 

The first issue I would like to talk about is the lunch prices. Everyone knows how the Chik-fil-a chicken sandwhich costs about four dollars, and at Chik-fil-a, they cost three dollars and five cents. They charge almost a dollar more at school than at Chik-fil-a. The sodas cost two dollars, which in my opinion is too much. They should cost one dollar because most people that buy lunch buy a soda too, and lunch without a soda is already expensive enough. Another thing I have noticed about the school lunches is they are underportioned. Every time I order, there is a lunch lady standing over me and saying, “One scoop, that’s too much! He’s gonna charge you extra cause you put to much!” At the beginning of the year, I recall being told by the school that we are allowed to make our own lunch and get how much we want. Doesn’t really seem to happening with someone staring over my shoulder telling I can only get one side of this, and charging me extra. Another thing is the food is unhealthy. Yes, they have yogurt and oranges, but to main food is unhealthy every single day. We should at least have one day where it is healthy food. Every day there should be an option of like a fruit bowl or something. That is what I think needs to change in the Lunchroom.

The next issue I would like to talk about is Summit Learning. Almost everyone at Pike Road hates Summit Learning, including me. The teachers said that now, we can learn at our own pace, but really we can’t if there is a bar constantly moving, turning subjects red and giving students incompletes. Summit Learning makes even the best of students mad here. When they get one single red and everything else is green, that makes them mad. When everyone is always mad about Summit Learning, that is not a good learning environment. Last year, I got my first B on a report card, then this year we start using Summit Learning and now I have a C. Another issue I have with Summit Learning is seven out of tens. In any other school you go to, kids pass tests with C’s all the time, but on Summit, it is not being passed and if you don’t pass it by the date it’s due(which isn’t much time) you get an incomplete which is basically an F. I believe that we should stop using Summit Learning and use a different learning website like Edmodo or FreshGrade or find something else. This is why I believe that we should stop using Summit Learning.

The Final Issue I would like to speak of is Bullying. Bullying happens everywhere, not just at school. Some kids get bullied so badly, they decided to take their lives, all because of bullies. This goes to everyone who reads this. If you have ever talked about someone behind their back or to their face, or stole their lunch, called them names, shoved them, make fun of them, embarrased them, please, please think twice before you decide to do these things. How would you feel If a kid took his/her life all because of you, and now you have to live the rest of your life knowing that you caused this, that you have to live with this guilt forever, you never got to make it right and now because of your actions, you never will. If we take a stand and make an effort to help people, not hurt them, we can end bullying. If we just take a second and imagine what one single word, one single sentance can do to someomes life. If we all ban together and try, just try to make an effort to help, we can end bullying, right here, in the present.      Today I am here to talk about three issues that I am concerned about at Pike Road Historic School. 
     The first issue I want to talk about is our lunchroom situation. Right now, our lunchroom is a sad hallway. When you go to lunch, you are obviously looking forward to it because you get a break from your classes but, when you eat lunch in a closed in hallway it doesn’t seem like a real lunchroom and you wish that it was. 
     Another thing I want to talk about is our ability to take tests in mentoring. We want to be able to take tests in mentoring because if we don’t have time to take a red focus area in class, it makes it hard for us to catch up and not have reds, it pushes us behind. Teachers should just monitor students when they are testing to make sure nobody cheats and us as students should be responsible and not cheat on our content assessments. 
The last thing I want to talk about is that some of the rooms that are not made to be a classroom are being used as classrooms and it’s not working. An example is the lunchroom. The lunchroom is my mentoring class. Mentoring is designed to be a time where you can get your work done and be able to focus. It’s hard to focus when you are in a lunchroom. Another example is the gym being used for band practice and P.E at the same time. Do you think that you would want to be in a P.E class with a band practicing in the background or even the other way around? Probably not and that needs to change. I hope that we come to notice more issues in the community and get to fixing them.

My second issue is I think there should be more sports. I think we should have more sports because it would give students a bigger variety to pick from and get them involved in the community. It is important to other sports not just the original ones because everyone likes different things.

My last and final reason is we should have lower lunch prices. I think that this is very important. Lunch prices are way to high! When we have pizza or chick-fil-a it is very expensive, you could get a combo meal at that restaurant for not much more. Some parents cannot afford the lunch because it is so expensive, and their kids do not eat lunch and are hungry for the rest of the day. They would not have the energy and focus to complete the day.

  Hello, my name is Grady Warren. In this letter, I will be addressing several issues/problems that are important to me in our community today. I believe the community needs to start and come together to fix and find a solution for these problems! The three issues I will be discussing today are better pay for our teachers, lunch prices and food, and bullying. The first issue I will discuss is better pay for our teachers. I feel that most teachers would do anything and everything to protect and provide for their students. They also have to spend time grading their student's assignments, tests, and quizzes because they do not have time out of their day to spend doing this. They have to take their work home. Secondly, I believe that teachers should be paid more money because they work day in and day out for their students providing art supplies, paper, pens, and pencils, etc. I think that school leaders and the community should come together and provide the money and support that teachers need in order to take care of their students. Finally, I believe that teachers should be paid more for their job because teachers provide the stepping stones for the future of our youth and without these loving and caring teachers, students would not be able to become the successful people that they become. I believe that teachers should be paid more due to the sacrifice and dedication that they put in to there work. Teachers are an important part of our society. They not only teach students how to read, write, and calculate math problems, but they do so much more.

Secondly, I will discuss lunch prices & food. I am concerned and worried about the future of our school lunch program and the food we are providing to the students. Food prepared in our school cafeteria is affordable for most. Food that is brought in is twice as expensive. For example, a Chick Fil A sandwich costs $3.35 at Chick Fil A. At school, the same sandwich costs $5.55. The school is making a $2.20 profit on each sandwich. It does not seem fair for the school to make a profit on school lunch. In order to make lunch more available to all students, there should not be a markup or profit on lunch brought in from outside sources. How about we rely on grants and fundraisers to make money for the schools and not make money on kids’ school lunches? I have researched lunch prices at various other schools and at several fast food restaurants in our area. Lunches prepared in our cafeteria are affordable and nutritious. The problem I see is when we bring in food from outside sources, there is typically a 50% markup on the price. For example, a Papa John's mini pizza costs $2.25 at Papa Johns.  When we have pizza at school, it costs $4.25.  It does not seem fair that the school wants to make a profit on a student’s school lunch. If profit needs to be made, I believe the school should look at the possibility of receiving additional grants from the state or federal government for monies the school can use, rather than making money, via a double profit, on a child’s lunch.

Lastly, I will discuss bullying. Bullying is not a new problem in our school system or anywhere else in today's society. But it is one that has a huge impact on the learning capability of many students today. Technology has given bullies even more opportunities to torment or hurt their victims – through social networking, texting, and other virtual interactions. Cyber Bullying has become a major issue for schools. Another type of bullying is Physical Bullying. Physical Bullying is the most common form of bullying and is just as bad and disgusting as any other type of bullying including Cyber Bullying. Physical bullies tend to be bigger, stronger, and more aggressive than their peers. This makes these rotten and ruthless people feel as if they have some special power or advantage over there peers. Examples of physical bullying include kicking, hitting, punching, slapping, shoving, and other physical attacks. One way we as a community can come to together and try to prevent this horrible act is by modeling how to treat others kindly and with respect. Kids learn from adults actions. By treating others with kindness and respect, adults show the kids in their lives that there is no place for bullying.

In conclusion, these letters were brought to your attention because I believe that these issues need to be dealt with in our society today. I believe that if our community works together and believes in change we can find a way to make our world a overall better place! Thank you for your time and consideration!

   I am running for president because I want to fix some problems we have in our community. I am here to help and make your life better and easier. I want to fix any problems or concerns you all have but we should take it one step at a time. First of all, I would like to address the issue of PLT. PLT is when we learn and take notes on a particular focus area. Or when we work on our projects. Lately, there has been less and less of it. If we don’t have time in class to work on it then when will we? We certainly can’t get all our notes done for each class in mentoring. That's only 30 minutes long. I understand every one of you has a life and can’t do everything at home either. That's why I’m here. When I’m president I am going to give each and every student more personalized learning time. Giving you more time, giving you more confidence, and giving you a chance to be a kid. Another big complaint I know about is, not having the ability to test in mentoring. We take the time during class to take notes and learn about a focus area. We would get prepared for the test and before we know it class is over. We usually don’t have enough time to test in class. Sometimes they aren’t even given the chance! I understand mentoring is also for studying but why study all the time and never able to take action? When it was said we could no longer test many of you were upset. Now focus areas turn red and we don’t have the chance to test. Cheating may have been a factor but each mentoring teacher should have a set section where the teacher can see the student’s screens to make sure there isn’t anyone cheating. As president, I would bring the ability to test during mentoring back. Now here comes one of the biggest issues. The time between classes is only three minutes long. It may seem like enough time to get class but truth be told it isn’t. Students don’t just need to get to class. We also need to use the restroom, or maybe ask teachers a question. Most teachers don’t allow their students to use the restroom during class. When they ask they are told they should’ve gone in between classes but then they would have been late. Except for those few who go to the restroom but are then late to their next period and get into trouble. It isn’t their fault their classes are in two ends of the school but they have a small bladder. It's my job as future president to make sure no one is being set up to fail. To conclude I just wanted to address the issues I find to be of utmost importance. I will not stop here though. As president, I will make it my forever duty to help you all.

  This letter is addressing three issues and why they are a problem. The first Issue is us not having break. Break was a time that we had where we could relax, take a break for a moment from school, socialize with our friends, and eat our snack. By taking break away it makes it to where we want to talk more to tell our friends things we want to discuss about. If we still had break I believe that we wouldn’t talk as much since we had seen that certain person before a break already. This still wouldn’t stop us from talking to one another during class but it would prevent some of it, also I believe that we should be able to have a break to socialize and do other things for at least a few minutes. The second issue is the percent of our grade that projects count for. The projects are worth over half of our grade so if you were to do bad on one of these projects it could affect your grade by a lot. It is hard sometimes doing focus areas, additional focus areas, and projects at the same time. There should be less on how much our projects count for and spread evenly between our Focus areas and our additional focus areas that we do for our classes too. This way if we did bad on one of our projects it would still affect your grade but not as much ,so we can still do good in our classes and we could have more time to do more additional focus areas to.Finally, the third and last issue is self teaching.I feel the teachers should teach more than they do. Although they do tech some, sometimes it is not enough help for us to take test that we have to do for that certain subject. Usually the teacher teaches some then tells you to get on summit and you have to do the rest on your own. Sometimes this can be good because your learning you own way, but I feel that they should do more teaching themselves instead of us self teaching ourselves. I can be easy for some people to learn that way but at the same time it can be hard for others to learn that way.These are the three issues that feel are most important and why they are

My name is Jenna Lawton and I’m your representative. In this letter, I will be addressing three things. one littering, two unhealthy lifestyles, and three crime. let’s start with littering. Littering is a prodigious problem it ravages the beautiful town that we call Pike Road. The more litter that is thrown out of a window equals more litter to end up in Lakes, wildlife habitats, and other spaces on planet earth. To clean up all the litter that is caused by most humans the US spends more than $11.5 billion a year. The estimated amount of litter in the ocean is 9 billion tons each and every year. This needs to be changed. We together can change it. Let's move to our next topic which is unhealthy lifestyles in the town of Pike Road. How many adults and or children do you know that don’t exercise, play sports, eats healthily, or lives a healthy lifestyle. there are 325.7 million people in the United States but only one out of 10 adults eats enough fruit and or vegetables. Nutrient deficiencies influence more than 25% of people worldwide. According to healthline.com “researchers say 97% of Americans are failing to meet ideal ‘healthy lifestyle’ criteria that can protect their hearts.” This just shows us an example of how below par most Americans lifestyles are. Now to our third topic. Crime as it is hard to believe Pike Road has had a few crimes in the past such as peoples cars being broken into and around two murders. Theft is mainly the problem in Pike Road. With this subject, I am looking to make Pike Road a safer town for adults and children alike. I hope as a town we can do our best to make this place beautiful, healthy, and safe. Thank you for your time.

     Hello, citizens of Pike Road Historic School. In this letter, I will be addressing the three important issue to me. Three issues that I am going to talk about is not being able to take tests during mentoring time, not having enough room for each class , and not having healthy school lunches for student.I am sure that there is a way that these problems could be solved.If we could  actually come up with solutions for these issues, then PRHS will be a much better school.

     Our school has made a rule that students cannot take tests during mentoring time. This rule came about because it was discovered that a few students were cheating. However, the majority of the students were honest in their testing. Many students made an incomplete grade because they did not have time to take their tests. We work on numerous in class projects, which affects 70% of our final grade. We are so busy working on these projects and cannot find opportunities to take our tests. Before the rule, most students took their tests for their subjects and passed nearly all of them. Now, their grades have dropped because they have an overwhelming amount of tests to complete by May 18th. Teachers cannot expect students to pass their grades if they do not have enough time to take the tests. I suggest that students are allowed to test during mentoring time, with better supervision from the teachers.

     Having enough space in school is very important to students and teachers. In our school, they do not have enough space for band, cafeteria, Chinese, and other classes. Band class begins their class in the gym, where everyone is loud and noisy. Sometimes, balls fly through the air by a person hitting or kicking them in the wrong way. It then hits an instrument or a band player. Do you know how much money it costs to buy a new flute? It is at least $1000. I know that band parents do not want to have to pay so much money to replace the damaged instruments because of another kid’s carelessness. In the cafeteria, students have to eat their lunch in the hallway. This is because there are only about ten tables in the cafeteria when there are more than 1500 students. This is a very big issue because the mess and the chaos is out of control due to not enough room to have organized, structured cafeteria. For the Chinese teachers, they do not have a special room for Chinese classes. So, they go around every school building to borrow the homeroom teachers’ rooms. I suggest that we create larger cafeteria, build a band room, and classrooms for Chinese, and other classes.

  Lastly, students need to have healthy lunch options. In our school, we have a lot of unhealthy food. For example, most kids can buy sodas all day until lunch is over. Sodas have so much sugar in them. The caffeine causes students to be very hyper and have trouble sleeping. Examples of school lunches are corn dogs, chicken nuggets, pizza, chicken wings, French fries, and mashed potatoes. I know that lots of students love to eat these kinds of food, but they like it just because it is tasty, sweet, or salty. In our school, lots of students are still growing and need to be strong. But the school does not care about students eating healthy food. Many times, our school serves Pop Tarts for breakfast. Do you know what Pop tarts contain?  They contain a lot of ingredients that causes negative effects on your body, especially a large amount of sugar. Sugar can cause health problems, disease, and obesity. In closing, I am asking you to revisit the lunch menus for our schools and help us to have nutritious, healthy foods that will feed our bodies and minds.

    In conclusion, this letter was sent to you to tell that Pike Road School’s needs on having more testing time, having enough space in the classroom,  and a new school lunch program. In making these changes, our school will have happier students in an atmosphere for learning.  We will not feel so stressed and behind our testing schedule.  We will feel comfortable in our classrooms with less distractions from overflow classes.  We will feel better mentally and physically with healthy lunches. I believe that if we work together, students will enjoy school more. Please vote for me for the Pike Road representative to have a big change. Thank you for your time.

My second issue is the lack of work in the gym. The gym currently is a building with balls in it. The floors are blank concrete, the basketball goals are non-existent, and the bleachers are the floor. This isn’t what it should be. The highschool actually has sports, so it doesn’t make sense for our gym to not function. If we did have a fully functioning gym at the highschool it could have benefits including, bringing more visitors for home games and with more visitors we could gain more funds for other areas of the school. In the finishing the gym night be expensive but could potentially bring more income.

My last issue would be the fact that we don’t know where the money from the lunchroom is going. Many of us realize that the food in the lunchroom is overpriced for example: chick-fil-la sandwiches are 5 dollars or that the drinks cost at least 2-3 dollars. Many students do not like the overpricing of their food, but what I want to know is, what do they use the money for? At some churches they tell you at the end of the month where the tithes and offerings have been used, this is something the school should start doing. If students were told what their money is being used for it could put more students at ease. For example, knowing that the money from the lunchroom is being used renovate the gym could bring more people to buy lunch, because then they get something in return. It is my belief that if you're going to overprice food, at least tell us why.

Hello, I am Gabriel Spencer and I want to talk to you about the bullying in this school. The bullying in this school is ridiculous. If the bullying does not stop these would be the consequences. There would be more fights in the school. More students self-esteem would be lowered. And fewer people will have people to talk to because they would feel outnumbered by the bullies. There was this 12-year-old girl named Mallory Grossman. For months she was getting bullied. She was being teased and taunted at school, She was told she was a loser and had no friends. It got so bad that some girls even asked her “Why don’t you kill yourself?”. So on June 14th, 2017, Mallory Grossman was pronounced dead in her home by suicide. In 6th grade, my friend was getting bullied by her best friends she ended up having a mental breakdown in the middle of class. My friend in 5th grade was getting bullied insanely too much he ended up yelling in class “LEAVE ME THE FREAK ALONE!” and he yelled it so loud that the principal had to escort him out of the classroom. In conclusion, I think that bullying is a stupid thing and we should get rid of it.

 My name is Isabella Bishop and I pledge to improve the following issues with our Pike Road Historic School. Teachers, Space and Lockers.
First, teachers. Teachers a huge part in students education because they are the people showing the child the material and they are responsible for how the student learns. If the teacher is unprofessional or immature then this could lead to failing students. I am aware that students could be the cause of the terrible grades but you must check the teachers as well just to be clear. To improve or resolve this issue I will occasionally check up on every classroom and speak personally with a handful of students to see their view on the teacher.

The second issue is space in the school. Space is very important for a student. For students to be comfortable in their learning environment they must have the correct amount of space in their classroom so they have room for their bags, furniture and many other crucial necessities for learning. To fix this problem I will review the blueprints for the schools and determine if there is enough given space. If not, then I will change the blueprints. If the school is already built then over the summer (starting the last day of school) I will begin a renovation to improve the structure of the school.

Our final topic for today will be lockers. Lockers are a very important part of a school so that it can provide students with the option to place down their unneeded supplies. The amount of supplies children need these days is a horrible amount. Granted some schools now use computers instead of books and such but the laptops can still way an unhealthy amount. Having all that weight on the child’s back could lead to slouching which could result in hunchback. This issue personally affects me because my father has that issue. I will fix this problem by having every school require lockers for the students.

    Hello, today I will be addressing 3 important issues in our community. Three issues important to me are testing time during mentoring, not having affordable and healthy lunches, and a break time outside. These are things that could be fixed if we worked together to make a better school. 

    First, having healthy and affordable lunch options. In our school lunchroom, we are served unhealthy and expensive food. For example, they sell soda and coffee to teenagers which would affect their sleep because of the caffeine and sugar. This would lead to them not growing as much and tiredness at school. How many times have you felt like you needed to fall asleep in class? We need to fuel our bodies with food that would give us the energy to get through the day but not affect our sleep. A well-rounded meal would give you enough energy and keep you healthy. But the school doesn’t seem to care. They serve like the pizza, chicken nuggets, french fries, and chicken wings that we serve here. Once in a while is fine but every day could cause health problems or obesity. Not to mention that the food isn’t that great tasting either while it is very expensive. For lunch, a main and a side cost around $3-4 which is already too much but if you want a soda or other snacks because you are still hungry it adds up. A normal soda in a vending machine is $1 but here it is around $2. I’m asking you to look at the lunch menu and help us have healthy and affordable lunches to fuel our bodies.

    Next, having time in mentoring to test. Our school has said that we could not test during mentoring because of few students cheating. Most of us were responsible and honest but we have to be punished because of their mistakes. We have around 9-10 power focus areas and around 4-6 additionals in each subject to take in the school year. That means we have around 40 tests just for power focus areas. We do not have a lot of time during classes to take tests because we are hard at work on projects which are 70% of our grade. Before this rule, we could take tests in any subject during this time and pass what needed to. Now people are not passing because of not having time. I believe we should let students test during mentoring with better supervision or assigned seats where they only have their laptop. If the students need scratch paper, the teachers could give out paper or check if the student’s paper has anything on them.

    

Lastly, having a break time outside. Break was a time you could relax, eat your snack, and socialize with your friends. When we eat inside you may not have your friends with you or they sit far away and can’t move seats which would lead us into talking more in class. This wouldn’t stop everyone from talking but it would reduce the amount we talk in class. I believe we should have a break back.

In conclusion, the issues important to me are better and healthier lunches, testing time in mentoring, and break time. I believe that if we work together we can make this school be the best it can be. Please vote for me as your representative to make a change. Thank you for your time

Dear Citizens, 

I need your help in offering more food options and lowering school lunch prices.  We need this because the students do not feel that we are getting our money’s worth for the price we pay for food. We need to lower the lunch prices, add more choices to lunch selection and add more options from outside sources.  

We need to lower lunch prices because the lunches are too expensive. We pay $3.75 per lunch. This includes two items to eat and a small drink. In addition, if we want an extra water, we pay $2.00 per a 60 ounce bottle of water.  If the lunch prices were lowered, we make more money because people would spend more. 

At lunch, we only have two options at lunch. We need more choices. The food selections are very limited. If we could more selections, more people would purchase the food and be satisfied. If would also be worth the price we pay.  

Adding more food vendors would be a great additions. We have Chick-Fil-A and Papa Johns on certain days, but love to have them everyday. It would also be good to add at least one more option. This would satisfy the students because they would already used to the taste, food selections and the cost from those vendors.  

In conclusion, a few changes such lowering the lunch meal prices, offering more lunch options and offering more vendors would go a long way in improving the quality of lunches at Pike Road Historic School. I would appreciate you considering these options.

Our ability to choose is very important to us as middle schoolers. Sometimes we get behind in our work, so we should be able to catch up on work when we need to if we choose. Mentoring was great for that, (despite being too short) but not anymore. Now, we aren’t allowed to assess during the MOST USEFUL time to assess, and that’s a problem.

I think that these problems need to be fixed, and that’s why I’m here. I want to win more opportunities for the student body by opening up more electives. Also, I want us to be able to assess during mentoring. We should also make mentoring longer and our other classes shorter. That way, we would have way more time to catch up in our work AND do what we love. I hope that you will join me in my fight for freedom of choice!

There’s one elective in this school and it wasn’t that fun for students by walking around in a big circle and would later do free play all the time in PE. And this is pretty important for students to actually have some fun after being in a class learning something and also for let them stay healthy from sports that requires running that could make them feel like PE is a fun class to be in. And sometimes in PE there’s sometimes people being on their computers or phones because there’s nothing much to do and that sometimes be if PE isn’t that much of a fun class. 

Another issue that is in this school for a while and that’s lunch. And that problem is mostly for lunch to cost a little more for food, drink, snacks, and also sometimes accidentally putting too much food on the plate and having to buy extra from that. And this might be very strange for how some of the foods in restaurants won’t cost that much like a Chick-Fil-A sandwich wouldn’t cost that much and the ones at PRHS would cost more and it would be five dollars and it just a chicken sandwich with no vegetables. And I would agree that to make lunch to cost a little less from all the stuff that students would like and also not needing to use most of your money from school. 

And sometimes some students won’t be catching up in this school like trying to focus on projects from other classes and also maybe some try to take a focus and not pass. And what we need to do is for students to spend extra time on focus areas and would try to pass that focus area so they won’t worry about much about it and could spend more time on maybe finishing projects or assignments in class. And thank you for your time for me telling about these issues in PRHS.

My name is Jada Smith, and I am writing this letter for the three issues I have.The main issue that I have is Discriminating people. It really shouldn’t matter what your skin color is or how you look ,it should matter what you are capable of and what things you can accomplish to make a better world.Every person should  be allowed to have the same opportunity as others. They way discrimination has affected people, people have be doing marches like “Black Lives Matter”, “White Lives Matter” and, “LGBT” etc. If people feel like their being mistreated or disrespected their going to take action like those 3 marches or stands I just named. They want people to hear their voices and to make a change.The second issue I have is people not being united.If people were more united the world would be different. People being united could and can make a big difference in this world.If the world would just join together then most of the things in this world wouldn’t have happened.The last issue that I am addressing is Equality. Equality  kinda goes with discrimination.Equality means having the same rights and opportunities has other. No man or women should have more of an advantage than  another. Most people think that we should live in a equity world, well I don't.Equity is giving everyone what they need to be successful. It could be a job that you don’t that like that  is given to you, you don't have the right to choose what job you would like to have.I will fix all this issue if you vote for me.

 

Now back to the teachers. I can kinda understand why the teachers not wanting us to eat in there rooms because there are lazy and immature kids in this school who think they can just leave trash everywhere and not have to pick it up but that’s not the point the teachers don’t even for real eat inside so how in the world are we gonna eat because if you don’t let us eat outside and you don’t let use eat inside then what’s the point of even telling us that we have snack.

And don’t even let me get started in how small the rooms are, the lunch room is also the music room, my old lunch room is at least 5 times the size of out lunchroom now it’s basically a hallway that has 10 tables in it with a small path way in the middle of it, like for real what is this a jail or something. Matter of a fact two be honest a jails lunchroom is way bigger then that. So i hope you take this into consideration and help me fight our right to fix this, Thanks

Now about more space in the school. I think we need more space in the school because first of all the chinese class has to float around in the school and in the chinese class some people have to sit on the floor because there are not enough seats. Second of all the lunchroom is a hallway with tables and seats and i think we should at least have a nice lunch room. Third of all the music room is in the “lunchroom” then the lunchroom gets all dirty because all of those kids are in there before lunch.Last of all the band room is one third of a gym and they are always getting hit by balls and those thousand dollar instruments are just sitting in a corner of a gym getting stepped on and sometimes broken

Lowering school lunch prices. I think school lunches should be lowered because i never hear people talking about how good school lunches are so why would you want to pay 3.75 for a horrible lunch i know i wouldn’t. School lunches are 3.75 when a chick fil a  sandwich is 4.00 only .25 cents for something a whole lot better. This is why you should vote for me because I will not stop until it all is done. Thank you.

I want to spend some time to look at how the schools weightlifting class is managed. The way I see it, we are on a 30 something year old field doing football and lifting weights, and that’s about it. I, personally, am not comfortable with this. I don’t know about you, but if you agree, than keep reading. If you don’t, than keep reading anyway, I’m trying to make a point. I want the field that we’re on to become awesome and improved. I’m thinking, baseball! Volleyball! Tennis! Tether! Just some things… 

Now, I don’t always want to be outside either. I see the girls doing a ton of cool things in the gym before we leave, why can’t we join in? I mean, they do just dance, dodgeball, volleyball, floor hockey, and a whole lot more. Wouldn’t it be nice to join in once in a while? Some of you might think what the girls are doing is lame and kiddy, but I say that it’s not weightlifting. So, I want to be able to join in at LEAST every other week. That would be plenty enough for me. So, back to the field. It is just too OLD. I mean have you ever looked at it and thought “Dang, how long has this place been here?” Well, that’s exactly what I think every single time I get on that field. I think it’s time to update. Better outlines and grass, better goal posts, maybe some soccer goals, and, isn’t that a big giant field of grass over there? Why can’t we use that?! Well, it’s probably private property, but we can still try! Overall, I want to improve the guy’s weightlifting class. So I hope you’ll support me in this!

  Hello PRHS readers, I am here today talking about the issues of our school. Our school was rebuilt last year during summer, and it is already being destroyed. We need to fix this, I am Jackie Penn and I am here to help our Community.

    One of our issues in school is Lunch/Food prices, the prices for lunch are very expensive. One lunch with a box of salad is 6 dollars because the box of salad counts as a whole lunch that is ridiculous. Also, we serve chick fa-la, papa johns, and ice cream. The chick fa-la is 6 dollars for just a sandwich, it is supposed to be 6 dollars for a sandwich with chips and a small water. The pizza is reasonable because it comes in 4 small slices and it is 4 dollars. The ice cream is 2 dollars for one small little ice cream, it should be like 1.25 or 1.50, not 2.00! 

Our next issues are about our dirty school. Like I said our school is recently built and it looks like trash in my opinion. We have paper all around us, our lunch room is dirty, the chairs are always everywhere, we don’t even have a proper gym. If you vote for me I can make nice changes for our school. This school needs to be treated like the homes we love our homes like treasures, that's is how we need to treat our school too. We can do things to make it stay clean like clean-up crew, trash duty,  and etc.

My last issue is summit learning, we have a system call summit learning. We use it for our grades, our tests, and our projects. Some people like this policy and some don’t, I am one of the kids who does not like this grading policy. We have projects that turn red when you don’t get them done on time or work at your own paste. Our test also turns red when we don’t work fast or also on the same paste as everyone else. When our test goes red they turn into an incomplete and if we have one incomplete we don't pass the grade if we don’t get it up. This an issue because kids in PRHS don’t pass the grade because they have one incomplete because of a test.

    In conclusion, these issues are important because we have to keep our environment clean, have healthy lunches, and pass our current grade. Vote for me and I can make these things happen, all you have to do is vote. A vote for me is a vote for me!

My first issue with the school is bullying. Bullying is a worldwide problem. For example there is  cyber bullying  and school bullying. Although, I do attended a school so I’m going to stick to school bullying.  At Pike Road Historic School I have witnessed some bullying. Bullying is not okay. It can cause suicide. Suicide is not a laughing matter and should not be laughed at. Many kids commit suicide because of bullying. 

My next issue is the IT Office. Now there isn’t much to complain about. Although, there is the money you have to pay and how late they are on certain things. The tech fee to own a computer is about 150 dollars. The problem is IF you come into the school late and they want you to pay that fee it’s just completely preposterous. Another thing is  how late they are. Now, I understand that they might not have the materials they need in order to supply to you, but they need to get on  their job. How are they going to keep this school together if they can’ give one kind the supplies they need to actually work?

The lunch choices are terrible!  They’re not nutritious, they look like someone threw them away and served again. I do understand there are  a  lot of kids to feed but they need to know some kids do not want to eat the disgusting food they’re serving. Second of all, the lunch prices are unacceptable!  For example, 5 dollars for 4 slices of a pizza.  Honestly, most of the food they serve should be free.

We have such a wonderful community that we call home. Scenic neighborhoods and neighbors that have become like family and friends. We are so lucky to be able to have an open line of communication. In our most recent town hall meeting you talked and we listened. From the your questions and concerns we recognize that you are concerned with littering, crime, and the economy. 

Littering has started to be become a big problem in our community. When you travel the streets of Pike Road, you see a lot of trash. This is our home and we must keep it clean. This is a job for all of our citizens. If you see any trash on our streets please pick it up. If you are caught littering you will receive a fine. Remember this is our home and we have to do our part to keep it beautiful. 

The next concern that our community voiced was crime. As a community, we are fortunate that we don’t have a big crime problem. However, future crime is an issue. As your representatives, we thoroughly understand. We have voiced your concerns with the Sheriff department. They have agreed to take the necessary steps to ensure the citizens of Pike Road will remain in a safe and virtually crime free environment. 

Finally our local economy was addressed. As you all know we are currently a small growing community. Some of the citizens stated that they would love to see more shops and restaurants come to our community. That is a growth that will be awesome for our community and our the growth of our local economy. A growth in our economy will mean more positive opportunities for our community, school, and Pike Road as a whole. 

Fellow citizens of Pike Road, we hear you. Your concerns and ideas are all awesome and will contribute to the growth and development of our town. We as your representatives are all working hard to make all of you dreams realities. Continue to be active and be vocal. Each of our citizens are a link in our community chain. Together that chain will grow and become stronger. Thank you for all that you do and thank you for being the best community ever.

    Hello citizens of Pike Road. My name is Madelyn Thomas and today I will be discussing 3 issues that we have with Pike Road Historic School. Those three issues are Lunch costs, Not having lockers, and summit. I know that we can fix these problems to come up with a better school system for pike road historic school.

Having new locker has been a really big problem in this school. Students have to walk around all day carrying their heavy backpacks. This could cause really bad back problems and back pain. I know this from experience. After I got into a car accident I had to carry around my backpack all day when I had an injured back. This cause really bad back pain. If I had a locker I would only have to carry around my backpack for a short amount of the day then put it in my locker and get the stuff i need. It also gives kids bad posture.

My next problem is Lunch cost. Our lunch cost way more than regular school lunches. Some people in our school can’t afford school lunches and are as much as 100 dollars in the negative. Our lunch cost 3.45 for a regular lunch. At our school a regular lunch is one scoop of whatever they have. For some people that is not enough so almost everybody gets extra which could bring your lunch cost all the way up to 10 dollars. That is way to much!
My last problem is summit Learning. Summit learning isn’t always the most helpful and most of the times the teachers have to go into more detail. Also it could be really bad to stare at a computer all day so if you took your test on paper it would be a break from the screen. It also helps us prepare more for if we go to other schools. If we end up going to a new school and we have to take tests on paper our grades would go down because we are not used to it. 
In conclusion you should vote Madelyn Thomas If you want to change our unch prices, get rid of summit, and get lockers.

Littering is a thing that happens, often at our school. You can find trash on the floor, almost anywhere. We need to keep our school clean. If we don't, that is showing how much we care about our school. Do you really want Pike Road Historic School, to be known as 'the non-caring littering school'? I sure don't. This is our school, and it's our responsibility to keep it clean. Even if it isn't your trash that was left somewhere, you should still put it in the trash, not leave it. 

We need an actual lunchroom, not just a hallway and a small eating area. First off, you can clearly see the problems with this ‘Lunchroom’, if we can even call it that. The tables are too small, and it’s really just a hallway with a tiny room next to it. Besides the point have having bad lunch, it’s really hard to get down the hallway of tables. When it’s full of students wanting to get to class, and you trying to get to lunch, get ready for to possibly fall. We also have the problem of the tables being too close together. Some people, when trying to get up, bump into other people’s chairs. Some minor issues are people not having enough space for their bags, and people sitting on the outside of the table. Some major issues are that the whole lunchroom is just a hallway, and the food isn’t really good. I also think that there should be a place under the tables, to store backpacks. Like little cubbies or cabinets. That way, there would be more room under, and above the table (If you put your backpack on the table). I’ve noticed that some people put their backpacks on the chairs, which I do not like. The reason for this, is because it gives the person behind them (If there is one), less room. It’s even worse, if the person with the backpack on their chair, has the chair scooted out a lot. ---I feel the most complaints I heard about our ‘lunchroom’ is, that it’s just a hallway. Most of my friends say we need a real lunchroom, with better food and tables. 

 

I think most people would agree with getting the break back. The students liked to be able to eat their snacks, and talk with their friends. I still do not understand why the break was taken away. We all enjoyed our little 18-20 minutes of free time to relax before the second period and would like to have it back. I hope next year, or before then it will be back.

          Hi my name is Kayla Jiles and I am hear to address 3 issues that we have at our school. The issues that I chose were Bullying, not being able to take test during mentoring, and having to much homework.

 My first issue is bullying. To me at school there has been lots of bullying and I don’t like it and I don’t think anyone else does either. Everyday just about someone will talk about someone or even get into fights with each other. I mean how do you feel when it happens at our school everyday. Do you know how many kids go home at night and punish and beat themselves just because someone is bullying them. I don’t and I don’t want to know and I bet you don’t either so lets stop bullying.

 My second issue is not being able to take test during mentoring.  In middle school we will have lots of responsibilities and one of them happens to be passing  test. Testing can be hard and testing can be easy. But know finding time to take text is ridiculously hard. I mean we only go to each subject every other day and we have regular classwork to do within those subjects. So then we have mentoring. But that's taken away from us now, so we have no time to take test anymore.

       My last issue is that we have too much homework. For instinct for me it takes about 3 hours to finish my homework. And then I have to take notes on test which takes forever. And on top of that we have personal things we have to do. Like chores or maybe you have an event to go to. Or even practice for dance, cheer, basketball or whatever it is. My point is there's other things we have to do in our personal lives that sometimes we can’t spend all night on homework as we attend to because of our plans.

       In conclusion vote for me and I will make sure we will have less bullying going on, we will be able to take test during mentoring, and there would be less homework .

I am Bryar Gamble and this is my speech. I will be talking about a problem at my school pike road historic school,The issue is our class activities. To me in our class we don’t do a lot of activities that are fun and you get to choose what you want to do and not wait your told to do.We do some fun activities but not often.I know some of you might be thinking that I'm not saying that I want people to do whatever they want and in some cases I am but I want our school to do more activities like in science we don’t do many experiments we just do research and put it on a google doc or a school project that we are doing if you vote for me your school activities will come to you I hope thank you for listening to my speech.

I also want to talk about prevent drugs in schools. People will make bad choices when they use drugs and It can cause them to become depressed and have a hard time at school. Teenagers can get addicted to drugs early in their life and 13% of people that smoke pot as a teenager will become addicted to it. It is also important because it is ILLEGAL! Nearly 44% of high school students know someone their age who sells drugs.Preventing drugs in schools is important because many kids are introduced to drugs at school and can become addicted to drugs at an early age.

Today I would like to talk about or school. There are a few things that could be fixed at our school like adding lockers. If we had lockers then we wouldn’t have to carry around the stuff that we don’t need which can get really heavy. A lot of things were stolen from our bookbags like food, phones, and a lot of other things. Something else that we could change about our school is finishing the gym. In our gym there aren’t any bleachers, and the floor is just concrete. Since we don’t have bleachers we can’t have any basketball or volleyball games at our school, so they have to bus us over to the elementary school.

Another thing that they could change about our school is the lunch room. Our lunchroom is really little and looks like a hallway. There isn’t enough room for people to walk. If one class was leaving and another was coming in then you would collide. After you get your food when you sit down it’s hard to pull your chair out because there is no room for it to go. Some classes have to bring their stuff with them to lunch and don’t have anywhere to their bookbags.

The issue I am addressing is about break. This issue is very important because students need break. The reason why we need break because a lot is on our mind when we start school. Break is the time to refresh our minds and talk to our friends. When we started to not have break our brain started to overwhelmed. For example when break was over students started making bad grades and getting incompletes.  I will try my best to bring back break by talking to teachers about this situation.

 Hello, my name is Gabrielle Hails and I am here to talk to you about three important issues that will make PRHS better.

The first issue is homework. The reason that homework is an issue is because we have to much of it. Most of you would say that there is no such thing as too much homework but there is a such thing as too much homework. We all have the 4 subjects which is Math, Science, History, and English, so imagine that on the first day of the week that in three subjects you have a major project and in one subject you have a major test all due on the last day on that same week. You can’t do all of those things in one week. I will try to talk to the teachers to see if they can make manageable due dates.

The second issue is power focus areas. The reason that power focus areas are an issue is because of the bar line and the 7/10’s. The first part of this issue is the bar line. The bar line is moving everyday, so when the bar line moves and passes one of the test that you haven’t pass yet then in your mind you think that you are going to fail because you are told that if you even have one red by the end of the school year then you will fail that course. The other part of this issue is the 7/10’s. In other schools a seven out of ten is basically a C, but with PRS a seven out of ten is not passing and it is very confusing.

The last issue is the lunch prices. At PRS the chicken sandwiches that they get from Chick Fil A is close to 6 dollars. At the actual fast food restaurant it’s probably close to 3 dollars. I understand that they are trying to make extra money but it doesn’t have to be that pricey. A lot of people don’t have kind of money all of time.

In conclusion, I’m going to talk to Mr. Sikes to see he can talk to the staff about these three important issues.

           We are all aware that our school needs to be fixed, nearly all schools do in some way, but this school is in dire need to be changed. We have bullying, the lunchroom food is unhealthy and overpriced, and we have a small selection of electives when compared to other schools. These issues lower the quality of our school and the ability to excel here as you should, because you deserve that. Together, you and I can take these issues as far as the governor to change what is in desperate need to be changed.

           The first issue is bullying. You might be wondering how that could be in our school, but no one can escape it. No matter what school you go to, you'll always see a form of bullying, be the victim, or be the bully yourself. Even if you're just joking around with someone, one slip-up in your words can change change the tone from light-hearted teasing to verbal bullying that can heavily affect someone's emotions in a negative way. I know that in the past at this very school, I was picked on, and that wasn't a good time in my life. I felt vulnerable and at fault for what happened to me. It was a depressing time where I would dread coming to school not just due to the work. This means I know what just a simple sentence a normal person wouldn't remember can do to someone. We already have enough drama and stress at school, and you have a job to not add onto that. Make sure you watch what you say, and if you see that happening, especially if someone tells you that it's happening to them, do everything you can to stop that.

           If that wasn't bad enough, the lunches are no better. They are unhealthy and overpriced. It's so overpriced it makes you wonder where they're putting the money for this harmful food. This  food is unhealthy, and school was supposed to be one of the places where we learn that unhealthy food is bad for us! This means that understandably, as Tucker explained in his speech, the food is so bad some kids avoid it by only having a bag of chips and a drink for their entire lunch. This leaves them still hungry and unable to focus on their afternoon classes, which for most kids holds some of their academic classes! It's almost annoying in the way that one coding mistake on Scratch can ruin your project, or if you miss the superstar in Flappy Golf by one. In other words, it's frustrating to see kids resort to this lunch behavior because of the food! We as a student body shouldn't allow this to happen to our peers. Therefore, if you join me by simply voting for me, we can demand better lunch food that has a lower price and even go on a strike and bring our own food from home, forcing the school to give us what we want and what we need!

           Finally, after elementary school, we are allowed to pick electives that we're interested in - the fun classes. Attending this school means we don't have that privilege in our choices of electives. We have to settle for the not-so-close seconds of what we really want. It's as if we really want to watch a video or play a game, but it won't load, making it more annoying than it would be if it didn't exist. It's like internet connection, it's more annoying to have a slow one than not have one at all. We only have one language choice when other schools have at least two. My friend attends a school where he learns German, which I would love to learn, but here I can't. The music class isn't serious in teaching them music. I have friends and people I've asked saying that they don't do anything in that class. If you want an art class, you have to join Graphic Arts, but what if a student wanted another choice in an art class? Makerspace in the elementary school is drastically different from Makerspace here, teaching a whole other concept. It leaves a lot of students feeling cheated out of what they thought Makerspace was going to be. If you want to learn how to cook, we should bring in a home economics class. If you want to free write for a period, we should bring in a Creative Writing class. These classes can be made for anyone's preference. We can take a poll of the students in the sixth grade now and the students at school to see what they would like for classes and then use that information to influence elective choice.

           To make a long story short, there are problems here we need to fix and to stand together means change to fix them. If you come with me, we can fight for better lunches that are affordable, healthy, and what you, the students, would like to eat. We can propose the survey of students’ elective interests to create more classes we can choose from. Together, we can convince students directly to be more mindful of what they say or do to others, even if it's a joke. These are the problems we as the students can fix without having to tough it out! Right now our school is an unfinished project, so even if we have to be the ones to fix it, we will.

Hello, students of PRHS. My name is Jaewoo Jung and I want to talk about how important the lunch is to us, and want a school to lower the price. Our lunch price is too expensive and we need to lower the price. Their charging way too much to us. The coke cost 2 dollars, which cost a dollar in the vending machine. This is 53% of our lunch prices. Also, some students are starving during lunch because they forget their lunch at home. It’s their fault that they left their lunch at home but you gotta let them be able to buy school lunch. I mean, if the price was lower the first place, then more parents will put money into their children’s account. I can make the lunchroom price more lower if I can convince the lunchroom ladies and principal with these evidence. 

I also want to talk about violences we have in our school. Recently, there have been lots of fighting occuring in our school. People are making bad choices and it will harm themselves too. If you get in a fight, then you have to go to the office and meet with principal and vice principal. In bad cases, you will either get inside/ outside school suspension, or be expired if this continues. This will of course affect you in your future since all of your records will be recorded and be reported to wherever you go. Some examples can be like going to college or getting a job. This will affect you in a negative way where you won’t be able to go to good college or won’t be hired for your job because of your bad past. So all of this violences should stop because it will affect you and others in negative way. If you vote me, then I will make them stop by giving them more harder punishment and talking to their parents before the fights happen to warn their children about these kind of issues. 

I also want talk about having our break back. Our bodies like really tired during the morning and sometimes our brain won’t be able to work well. If you take a short break, after your first period, then your brain would be good to go and start working again. You also need time to socialize with your friends. Little break for your brain can really help your brain working throughout rest of your day. If you will vote me, then I will convince our school principal to get our break. If we work together, we can bring our break back and make students happy again. 

In conclusion, we need to lower our lunch prices, stop the violences, and get our breaks back. Remember, these stuff are for your goods. If you want to make your school life great again, then vote me. Thank you for your time reading this letter and I want you to vote for Jaewoo Jung. 

We have green days we have red days we all need to reassess on a focus area one day at a time. They have taken our freedom to take a contest assessment in mentoring. How are we supposed to pass the 7th grade if we aren’t able to take any test again.Think about it if we have 1 red in one class and that class is only on one day what are you supposed to do? That is why I am here I am here to encourage the teachers and the principal to give us back time to take a content assessment in mentoring. Like I said in the beginning of my speech we all need to reassess on something we all need to pass the 7th grade. In order to make it on to 8th grade we have to pass all of our focus areas and have a 70% cognitive skill to make it to the 8th grade.

My second issue is about not having enough time in mentoring.When we were able to take a test in mentoring we didn't have enough time to take the test. I would be in the middle of the test then the bell would ring.We are not aloud to take the test in our next class so… I had to stop the test and wait on the next day. We can fix this issue by making mentoring tim longer and give us the time to prepare and study to take the test.

My third issue is No more chinese. MOst of us take chinese but do you really want to take the class? I mean they didn’t give us a choice to take the class we just had to take it.I think that we should have a choice to take the class or to take something else instead of chinese.

Trash is something all humans produce, but when we throw our trash away not only did we just get rid of something that could be recycled but every time you send something to the dump to be burned it created more heat in our atmosphere which causes glaciers to melt and oceans to rise and raise humidity.  By recycling not only do you help our atmosphere you make our air cleaner and save ecosystems.  If you go to the store and get a bag made of cotton fabric, mixed fabrics, or just make your own. You then can reuse that bag till you need a new one.  So by using only one bag for a whole year not only did you slow global warming you just make your communities air better.  Let’s say that your whole city only uses one bag per person per year then your community just dropped global heat temperatures by maybe .5 degrees and that difference is huge because if your whole state does that then Y’all are lowering global heat by possibly 5 maybe 6 degrees and you're making everyone's air a whole lot cleaner.  So help me change the world 1 bag at a time.

Did you know you can almost get 2 chicken sandwiches from chick fil A for the price of 1 chicken sandwich at our school? The school also shouldn’t charge so much for such a little portion. That sounds like their trying to take your hard-earned money.  While not only are there chicken sandwiches expensive their regular lunch is also really expensive coming in at a whopping $3.75 for a very small portion when I could get more for the same price if not cheaper at a fast food restaurant or grocery store. 

Traffic everyone hates traffic.  Did you know that most of the traffic isn’t caused by to0 many cars on the road?  It’s actually mainly due to wrecks. This is because to0 many young people are on their phones instead of paying attention to the road.  Did you know on average 20-50 million people get in a wreck a year?  So if your unlucky enough to be going down the same road as one of these unfortunate people you may be waiting a good 15-40 minutes or even more.   So if you put that phone down and pick up the wheel, you could be saving yourself time and other peoples time daily.

   

    Hi, my name is Daeun Lee and today I will be addressing 3 issues in the Pike Road Historic School. The three issues that I am gonna addressing is the price of school lunch, lockers for students, and testing during mentoring.

    The first issue is that i am gonna talk about is the school lunch is too much expensive. Our school sell a main lunch around 4.00 dollars. Our main school lunch is no that much tasty. They sell chicken wings, hamburger, hotdog, nacho and things. And also our school sell papa john’s and chick-fil-a.  If we add water or soda to papa john’s pizza or chick-fil-a  you have to pay $ 7 that is more expensive than main school lunch.If we pay money like this for a week we have to pay around 20.00 dollars for a week. So i think our school has to change the price of our school lunch price.

    The second reason that I am gonna talk about is  we need lockers is that our school students wear heavy backpacks. The reason we have heavy backpack is that we carry a laptop (macbook). Secondly, we carry a binder, a notebook, and a pencil case in a bag, so our backpack is heavy. But if we have a locker in our school, we can put our stuff in the locker like binders, notebooks and pencil case and anything outs. But the computer we can not put in a locker because we have to charge it at home, but even if we only put our binders and notebooks,pencil case our school students can go to our school with our backpack lightly without our shoulder not hurt.

   The last reason that i am gonna talk about is content assessment during mentoring time. Our school said we are not allowed to take assessment during mentoring because some students was cheating during test. So all students that our school is not allowed to take a content assessment. We have power focus area and additional focus area and each subject has around 8 power focus area and around 4-6 additional focus area. And we have to take lot test this year but we don’t have time to take a test. Because most of class period we have to work on our project which it take 70% of project that is really important. So we don’t have time to take a test during the class period. So many students have red or incomplete because they can’t take a test. So I think our school have to allowed to take a test during mentoring so students can take a test and have no red or incomplete in their summit and grade.

   In conclusion, the three things that i think it is big issues if we work together i think we can fix those problem and make our school better and good school.

Pike Road Schools has two buildings. We have an elementary school and middle school. In middle, you have more education, more work, more books, more stuff, etc. The more stuff we have, the more our bookbags get heavier and bigger. Our backpacks take up space alone, but adding more stuff to them takes up even more room. If we put lockers in our school hallways, students can leave the supplies that they don’t need in the lockers. This is important because it helps students not trip over all the bookbags in the classrooms and helps the weight on the students back. 

  Second, the gym. I want to be safe while I am doing sports and working out. Usually gym floors have a good waxed, wood floor. Right now, our gym floor is concrete. This is important because many sports usually involve a gym floor. We cannot play most of those sports because we don’t have a safe floor for the sports. The school should hold fundraisers to earn money to buy and install the floor for our gym. 

Finally, language choices for students. Our school has two languages that students are taking, chinese and latin. Most students aren’t interested in these two languages. I think that this is important because students should be able to participate in activities or classes that interests them. Students should have more choices as in, spanish, french, korean, etc. Also, all 7th graders have to take chinese. I think all 9th and 10th graders should have to take a language.

Hello, my name is Emma Grace Mesaris and I am here to talk to you today about our school lunch prices, littering around the community, and Fortnite being a distraction. These issues are becoming more and more common around our community, and school. The first issue I am going to talk to you about is School lunch prices. Here at Pike Road our lunches are way overpriced for example a Chick-fil-a sandwich at Chick-fil-a is only $3.05 but a Chick-fil-a sandwich at Pike Road is $5.50. At MPS all lunches are free or cost $2.50. Also other school lunch menus offer a variety of options daily but Pike road has one main food with limited sides. Pike road needs to lower their school lunch prices or give us more options like a potato bar, salad bar, and other healthy options. Another reason Pike road needs to lower their prices is because not everybody can afford these high prices for the type of food and the amount given.

The second issue I am going to talk to you about is littering around the community and school. As we know there are problems with littering around the community and school. Everyday I walk into school and around school campus and see trash everywhere. This is a problem and we need to fix it now. When you litter you are harming the environment, harming animals, and spreading disease. Here are some causes of littering , construction, laziness, not enough trash cans, and finally you just don't care, you should care because you are harming our community. Here are a few ways we can prevent littering, by putting up littering bins, take the time to pick up trash, putting up signs that say NO LITTERING, and finally tell our school and community that it is not ok to litter. We all need to ask ourselves, do you want a dirty community and school? 

The third and final issue I am going to be addressing is Fortnite being a distraction in school. Fortnite is a multiplayer game in which the player battles others until they die. The last one alive receives the desired “#1 Victory Royale,” which is a big deal. Fortnite is a very big deal to many people and it should not be. People are taking this game way to seriously and even playing during school (they are obsessed). I walk around the school and see people playing Fortnite on their phones (and sometimes even during class), at lunch they are screaming yes I won or no I lost. This is not ok it and is taking away from our ability to learn. You should not be able to play Fortnite in school it should  only be allowed to play  after school hours. If the students spent as much time focused and obsessed with their school work as they are with Fortnite, all projects would be green and all standards mastered. We need to set boundaries on when are where Fortnite is played.

In conclusion, I feel it is at the utmost importance that we the community of Pike Road make these changes. Let’s band together and reduce lunch prices, stop littering, and stop the addiction of Fortnite! Thank you for your time and attention.

                      My name is Sophie Burton and we all know that there are many ways to improve our surroundings but I’ve selected 3 to talk about. These are all things happening either locally or far away, but they are still increasing every day poverty,pollution, and protection in our schools are all things that we have to see around us everyday as U.S. citizens.

Poverty may not be something that seems that seems like a severe issue but it is, and so many people are living in poverty that you don’t even realize. Poverty isn’t just a person with no home, there's more to it these people have no money no proper clothing, little if any food and water,no education, and worst of all you can’t tell anymore if someone asking for money is a person really in need or if there a scam artist. These people would do anything to have a proper meal when we have them 3 times a day. Think about not just adults live in poverty teenager, children, even infants, innocent people who deserve more than what they are given. This honestly is a very serious issue.

Pollution is no stranger to us we think of it as trash on the side of the road, or empty bottles in the grass, or potato chips on the sidewalk. Honestly it’s much worse in other places, oil spills pour into ocean killing so many sea animals, factories with smoke coming out of the top and this smoke spreading from buIlding to building, and t think it all started from people not picking up their trash. I cannot count the times an adult had said to a child to pick up trash and the child says it’s not their trash they don’t have to pick it up.I mean it’s not going to kill you to pick up a small piece of trash, what can kill you is what happens when we don’t pick it up. The air is filled with dirt and smoke and who knows what else we can make such a difference jst by recycling and picking up our own or someone else’s trash.

Protection in schools and the students is something that has been concerning more and more schools all through the globe. Over the last year there have been so many schools who have dealt with bullying, suicides, and even school shootings. And sometimes we can stop these from happening if you see someone who feels neglected, meaningless, shameful any of these things go talk to that person. Sometimes compassion is all someone needs to brighten up their day and taking it one step at a time is a tremendous help to that person struggling. Shootings in schools however, is something that no one really even imagined would be such an issue, it makes no sense why someone would find pleasure in seeing children suffer. Students are in school to learn to give ourselves a brighter future, we should be scared to come to school because they think it’s too dangerous. School should be a safe environment for students to learn.

In conclusion, you should vote for me so that we can see these problem slowly disappear and turn into happy people living happy lives. My name is Ella Dilbeck and I, a student of Pike Road Historical School, believe that there are a few issues with our school that we should fix. Our school is a great school, it allows students to work on their own path not just be lectured by a teacher, but it is Pike Road Historical School’s first year, and I don’t think that they have worked out all of the kinks. 

Most of the problems revolve around our lunch. First of all, our school food is not the best. The food we have for lunch everyday in the lunchroom is not healthy at all, and on top of that it doesn’t taste good either. We have to be working for eight hours on school work. How are we supposed to concentrate, and do good on our school work if we are hungry? I don’t know about y’all, but it’s very hard for me to concentrate when I am hungry, and I never get any work done. Second of all, not only do kids not want to buy the lunches because they taste bad and aren’t healthy, but the lunches are way overpriced. For example, just for one chicken sandwich from chick fil-a at the school costs five dollars. You can get a chicken sandwich from chick fil-a for only three dollars. Nobody likes the actual lunch food, so they are having to pay for overpriced vendors. Lastly, we need more space in our school. Our lunch room is close to the size of the hallways at the elementary school. Our lunch room should be one of the biggest areas in the school, because big groups of ppl come and eat lunch there. Also, some of the electives don’t have classrooms, so they have to move around the school and use other teachers’ classrooms during their break periods. It is very irritating.

In conclusion, those are some of the issues that I have come across during the first school year of Pike Road Historical School. I think that we can work together to get all these problems fixed, and make our school a better place. Thank you for your time in advance.

There are 3 issues that need to be changed in this school.

The first issue is not having a real cafeteria in our school. Our cafeteria is very narrow, when you sit down, you are cramped with other students that are next to you and behind you. It’s so tight when you try to get out, it would be very difficult when the other students are super close to you. Another issue is because if the students came from weightlifting, you would have to bring your bags with you into the lunchroom. But there’s no room for the bags cause the tables and chairs are compacted to each other. It kinda makes our school look bad if the visitors came into our school. If the visitors walk into the lunchroom, they will probably be wondering “why do they have a cafeteria in the hallway next to the gym?” It would be difficult to answer that question because you don't know what to say if the visitors ask that. When they said that question, that just sounds like our school needs some work. 

My second issue is leaving at 3:30. I think we should leave school at 2:30 instead. Let’s be honest, ¾ of the students don't like school because we have to wake up early every morning and go to school and do some work. It is very boring and exhausting for students and adults. I get that school is important in life but we need some break off of it by leaving the school earlier. Think about it, the teachers have to deal with some obnoxious students in their class and teach the same concepts for four different classes. I don't think it would be fun for teachers and staff to stay at school till 3:30. And plus some kids and adults have Wednesday night church or practice after school. when the students get home, they don't have enough time to do there homework and have free time. We should leave school at 2:30 so we can have more free time and have time to do homework. 

My last issue is the lunch price. I don’t get lunch in the cafeteria but I heard a lot of complaints from my fellow students in the school. The fellow students told me a pizza is $4.25, chick-fil-la $5.50, and snacks and drinks cost about $2.25. I'm not a person who likes to waste money every day just for a small meal. It’s just not worth it. Think about it, if you get food from school for 5 days, it will be about $30.00! I get that you are trying to make profits out of it to keep this school going. I have an idea that might help the students. They should lower the pizza to $2.50, Chick-fil-a to $1.75, and snacks and drinks to $.75. 

In conclusion, those were my issues that should be fix in our school. We need to fix these problems to become a better school. Thank you for your time.

I believe that we have many issues but today i will be talking about three that i feel need the most help on. My first issue is picking your mentor, I strongly believe that we should be able to pick our on mentor. I feel that my mentor dose help me but i am not really conterbellel with talking to him about my problems or my grades. I would like to have picked my own. My second issue is, why i think fortnight should not be aloud at school, I believe that fortnight is a really big distagion and kids are not able to do there school work. And they are getting in trouble when there work is not done. My last issue is, lunch should not cost so much. I am one of the kids in our school that buys lunch not everyday but a lot of them and in one week i spend up to 20 to 30 dollars and i am getting in trouble for that. Kids in these school might not have the money to buy food because it is so much. I hope you have the time to stand with me and try and fix the issue.

  I have three issues I would like to share with you. The first one is lunch expenses, it's about 5 $ a day and that's very high. So if you add all that up in one week it will be about 30$ all together. And if you wanna snack and a drink it's even more so I could be that person to fix that because our parents are yelling at us for spending to much but its not our fault. I could talk to mr bettes about it and if it doesnt change we could have a peaceful protest and I think that we could overcome it. 
My second issue is how long we spend in class, it's so overwhelming I think we should not spend that long because its too much stress on us. It could be 45 min and not learn so much because it puts to much stress on the students because we have to remember everything so I could change that and talk to Mr. Sikes about the problem. My last problem is No break I think thats thats horrible because we need a break from all the classes it's just too long and at break we get to hang with are friends and that's fun but we have to learn not to litter because that's bad because then other people have to pick it up but I think we learned our lesson and I think we should have one more chance at it. So I could make this school a better place if you vote for me for president.

 Study Hall -.According to The U.K Independent, some of the top schooling systems in the world like Finland and Singapore have little to no homework. So our school needs to try to do the same. I am going to work with the school to get a study hall system so we can do our make up work at school instead of our free time at home. 

    In this letter, I am going to address 3 problems that our school has. The first problem that I am going to address is that we do not have a break. We used to have a break every day between our first and second class of the day. The first reason that we need a break is that it gives students time to rest between classes. If students do not get breaks throughout the day they may not be able to focus enough and then they might not do as well as they could do on projects and assessments. The second reason is that students would be able to catch up on school work that they were not able to finish at home. 

The next problem that I am going to address is that we need to be able to take tests in mentoring. During class, we do not have enough time to take content assessments because we have to take notes and do other class work. Students can take notes and study at home but they still have to wait until their class to take the test. Which means it might be 2-3 days before they can take the content assessment and if they don’t have time during that class then they will have to wait even more time before they can take it again. If we could take content assessments in mentoring I think that a lot of students’ grades will improve and the number of reds that each student has will decrease.

The third issue I am going to address is that in our school we have our lunch room is very small, our gym floor is concrete, and some classes are in the lunchroom when they should have their own classroom.  If we had a normal gym floor than we would be able to have games and more practices in the gym at the historic school instead of the elementary school.  If we had a bigger lunch room there would be room for more tables so people would not need to move chairs around at lunch. If we had a classroom for all the classes that take place in the lunchroom, then people would be more productive and they wouldn’t be disturbed by other people who are walking through the school by the lunchroom.

In Conclusion, I think it is extremely important that the students and staff of Pike Road Historic School work together to bring break back, bring testing in mentoring back, and build more space at the school. Thank you for time and attention.

Bullying is one of the few major problems in today’s society. Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year which can lead to detrimental decisions. For instance, studies show that approximately 160,000 teens skip school everyday because of bullying.17% of American students report being bullied 2 to 3 times a month or more.That's why we shouldn't bully other students because some students talks about killing their self  because of bullying. Bullying as many people know ,can be a tremendously painful experience for a young person.The point has been driven teens like phoebe prince or amanda todd who killed themselves after they have been bullied.Why do people think it is okay to bully other people?The main reason why people bully is because they may not seem like good enough reasons for intimidating and controlling others,but they are the main triggers.Some people bully just to get attention,they want other kids to laugh at what they say mean to the other kid.It is not good to bully you should keep your comments to yourself if you feel like your going to say something bad don't say it at all.

So, fellow people, my word to you is DON'T LET ONE BAD EGG MAKE YOU FEEL ROTTEN! For littering YOU BETTER PUT WHAT YOU WASTE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!For racism THERE'S NO PLACE FOR RACISM.

My name is Christine Shelton, and I believe that Pike Road Historic School should have lockers for every student. Everyday, students have to carry around their heavy backpacks all day. We get to class, and only end up using our laptops, or one binder out of our backpacks. If we had lockers, we could store everything except the things that are needed for the class we’re going to. Students go home with backs and shoulders that hurt because we have to carry our backpacks around all day. Lockers would provide much needed security for our personal belongings. Some people have things stolen out of their backpacks. Things like pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers, money, and calculators. Items couldn’t be stolen out of backpacks if we had lockers because lockers are locked, and only the student knows the code. Lockers would give us an ample amount of space to store not just backpacks, but purses, bags for sports, and lunchboxes too. I play sports in the afternoons and often have a bag that I end up having to carry around all day because I go straight from school to practice. I have a bible study on Friday morning, I have to carry a purse for bible study. This is why we need lockers. As you can see, lockers would be a great addition to Pike Road Historic School.    Today I would like to address some issues in our school. One of these issues is that us as students are not getting much of a say in choosing the classes that we take. This is important because most of us were forced into taking non- core classes we didn’t want to take. At the end of last year we were given a sheet and we got to circle what classes we wanted to take, but weren’t taken into consideration for me personally and many others students because I didn’t get many of the classes I wanted to take. The second issue I want to address is that we need to bring back a break or implement a recess time in our daily school routine. This is important for us because all kids and teenagers need a break from schoolwork and stress. We need a time to rest or run around. This is also scientifically proven to help us focus, pay attention, and have better grades in school. THe last issue i would like to talk about today is the lunchroom food, it is mostly unhealthy, overpriced, and sometimes just outright disgusting food. This issue is  important because as teenagers we need to keep our bodies healthy and growing.  With all the junk food most kids barely get to eat a good healthy meal. I hope that in reading this and hearing many issues we will start to change something and resolve these issues over time.

I also have another idea on the matter of fun. Since the lack of having less and less field trips because of us aging and not needing as much i would like to have more fundraisers placed to ya'll it would help the tired brains and the limited breaks. I also has another benefit to that it helps raise money for the school and cafeteria. 

Last one I would like you to consider. I know some but not all want more time to take test and stuff. Well I would like to make the mentoring time longer so you have more free time to take care of stuff that you NEED to do. I know it could make the last period short but next year they can make it happen and make the lesser important classes shorter. Thank you for your time an i hope you have a great day.

Make PIKE ROAD GREAT AGAIN

Hi I am going to talk about hunger, prices for lunch, and time we have to eat lunch. Some people don’t have any food to eat because they don’t have money in their lunch account. Some people don’t have time in the morning/night to pack their lunch because they are busy. I am also saying that the lunch prices are kind of pricey. People like pizza, and we want to buy it because it is tempting. It casts like 7 dollars for a pizza, drink, and a bag of chips and that is too much for a single meal. People spend about $25 a week because of the lunch prices. At lunch we have about 30 minutes to eat and hang out with our friends. That is not enough time to me. Some people eat slow or spend most of their time talking rather than eating. That is a struggle. this is why you should vote me for president. thank you!

My next issue is that we need break. I Think that having break will let us have a little bit of free time. Having free time will let us talk to our friends and socialize. We can also eat our snacks so that we won’t be eating in class and making a mess. In the classrooms, there is mess on the floor that the teachers have to clean up and they don’t like to do that. In addition, we can let loose during break so we won’t do it in the classroom. We need to have fun like play, talk, and hang out with friends. We all need to convince the teacher to give us break back. As you can see some kids like break to have fun, and talk to friends and not just be in a classroom doing nothing.

My last issue is that we have high schoolers and middle schoolers together. Since Pike Road Historic schools have so many kids it is so crowded in the school. I feel like we should have a separate school for middle school kids and high school kids. So many kids in a school it gets crowded and you can’t really walk if there is a lot of people going from one place to another. We were about to get Georgia Washington, but they canceled the purchase. We need to build or buy another school to fit all the children. Since Pike Road Schools is still growing until 12th grade we need another school. At this Point, we just have to wait and see what happens because I heard that we are might get portables. In conclusion, we might have a little school for every kid in the school all the way to 12th grade.

    The first subject is how we should replace mentoring with study hall. Mentoring recently has gotten rid of testing. This means that now there is pretty much nothing to do in that class. You are encouraging kids to play video games during (that) class. Now they have nothing else to do. You might say they could study but the vast majority of students I talk to say they don’t study or study right before the test. Just get rid of mentoring and make it study hall. It’ll give the kids and faculty a break. Also breaks in between working actually help people focus better when they get back to work. In conclusion, we should replace mentoring with study hall because it is healthy and mentoring is just a waste of time and makes you (the school) look bad.

    My next subject is how the school pushes Christian beliefs on its students. I understand you are just trying to please the vast majority of us. I understand we live in the bible belt so pushing those beliefs would seem like a good idea. But the problem is it’s illegal. During the school's band meeting they had us pray to god. This is the school forcing parents and the students that came to act in a religious urge. Another example is during Chinese class. They had us watch a video about Easter. They are teaching students about religion which is again something that the school could be sued for. I personally am Christian but I do not encourage the school to continue to do things like this. They could get sued or just make one of their students and/or faculty mad. In conclusion, the school should try to better on this subject that has just been presented unless it is ok with some court time.

    My final subject matter today is the agricultural push that our school has. It always seems our school is trying to focus on farming. The new building they said is going to have a big focus on agricultural learning. 79% of America is city/urban areas. I get you think that it’s relevant to here so we should teach it. But the problem is most people born in Alabama move out. In 2015 more people moved out of Alabama then moved in. And you know where they're probably going to end living. In a city or urban area. Instead of teaching us how to grow tomatoes, teach us how to do taxes, help us to understand paying mortgages, how to work high tech technology, etc. That is what we should be focusing on. My name is Nevaeh Mainor and i'm going to be discussing the break,stress,and time issues in Pike Road Schools. One main problem about break is that we leave trash.We can fix that by putting multiple trash cans or recycling bins.With multiple trash cans we don’t have to push or rush to throw our trash away we can simply walk to the nearest one.Our second issue is stress which can be a big problem in school.We can fix and help with stress by having break to break away from school for a little bit.We can also supply chewing gum or stress balls when someone is stressed.Our last issue is time.We dont have alot of time for break.We can fix that by adding five minutes to the time limit There's not enough time to find,talk,play with your friends let alone eat your snack.If we fix all these problems we won’t have as much stress and you have break.These are my main issues.These problems can be fixed.

Secondly, We need to bring back break. I think we should bring break back because I am always getting tired during class because I don't have any food or energy and it causes me to not do my best. I think that they shouldn’t keep break away just because of the mess. Some kids should clean up after themselves then the problem would easily be solved.

Finally I think that the some of the teachers are not doing their best at teaching because all they do is make us watch videos and study by ourselves and never teach except for 3 other teachers, in conclusion I think that I can make this school a better place.
