For the first scene recreation I was the gaffer and camera assistant and I did not enjoy trying to light the peaky blinders scene and believe it was difficult, however I think I did a decent job at it by getting light and shadows where I wanted

On the 2nd scene recreation I was DOP which I enjoyed a lot more than gaffer and believe that I did a good job with my shots. I do know that I could've exposed my shots better and I have learned from that as it was underexposed in the final film

I was online editor for the first scene recreation and found it to be very easy as there was not much we had to do with the edit, but on the 2nd scene I was offline editor and I got through that well and made a good edit however someone in the other group accidentally saved over my edit and I had to restart and was short on time to finish it, even though I got it done I think i could've did it to a better standard.

Studio

In the studio project I was the lighting assistant and I think the lighting on the final shoot was good but I can definitely improve my lighting skills in the studio and understand more of what is needed for different people and what they are wearing, such as Demi who was wearing all black and had a white background behind her so she needs to be lit differently.

Studio VT

Filming the VT was good and Kulwinder was lovely and gave good answers but when trying to put an edit together it kept crashing and audio was cutting out and not syncing so I tried to do it at home but media composer crashed so I had to let Aiden do it and when I checked it after I didn't notice any spelling mistakes till the day of filming which caused him to panic and maybe stress him out

Studio Pitch

Me and Aiden wrote the pitch together and then sent it out so everyone else can join it and contribute whatever research they found out and then we agreed that Ash and Ethan would be the ones to read it out in front of stuart and Demi as they wanted to.

Working with the actors

The actors were good but sometimes struggled with lines so we all as a group had to make sure they felt comfortable so they could perform to their best. We had to meet up with actors multiple times before starting to film so we would get used to working with each other and to read over lines and make sure they understand what we want and what they need from us

Scriptwriting

I enjoyed scriptwriting a lot more than I expected myself to and once I started writing the script I had it all came naturally, the idea, the characters, the setting, and I could visualise in my head what I was writing. I wish that I pitched my idea, although my script had violence in it which I knew wouldn't get picked but I wish I had gotten the experience anyway.

Working in industry

Working with Kuwinder, Demi and Stuart in the studio and also going to AAC Clyde space to get an interview was decent experience getting to work with a client and make something for someone else and not my own college project. It was hard to get in the mindset of thinking what the client wants from the program and not what we thought was best which is why the pitch was good to let us know what we can change and what was good to keep.

Location Scouting

Getting Mitchell library was very easy as they were simple to contact and agreed to a space for us to film, however trying to get a Vietnamese supermarket to agree was more difficult as they didn't know exactly when they can shut the shop and also some of them just didn't understand what I was requesting, i now have all locations sorted now and have went to recce all of them with Kim and Honour to see what shots we can accomplish and I also had to do a sound recce for each location.

Showreel research

Watching showreels and learning what I need to have in mine as an aspiring video editor was helpful to realise what mine should look like and got me thinking about what clips I could use in my showreel, also need to figure out what I may need to film to fill in any gaps of my showreel if I don't have enough footage ready. I think I will need to practice my editing before making the show reel to make sure that I do it to the best of my ability

Sound mixer

In the scripted project i was the sound editor and i think that i did my job well however i hated having to deal with rustling and bad sound, also i noticed that i should have had the sound levels up higher as when putting it into the edit it is much quieter than it sounded in the mixer, however i did notice that after the first couple days looking back at footage and adjusted the audio for the later scenes that we shot and improved at it as it went on.

For the scripted drama i am the online editor with Honor and although we are not done the edit yet i believe it is going well so far, however i think it is much harder for us as we have less time it feels to edit as we took extra filming days that cut into our editing and will make it more stressful, but we dont want to rush the edit as we want to make it the best we can.
