Tips for online sources ( when their fake and when their real)
Olivia was watching Jacob on a site called "Save the Tree Octopuses" . "Jacob that site says .com, " said Olivia. "Whys it important?", said Jacob. "Because what if this site is fake?" , said Olivia. "It cant be fake!", said Jacob. " It can, I've learned in class to always check to see who the author is , see the date and see if the site ends in .gov, .org and .edu," said Olivia. "How do I do that?", asked Jacob. "Well first you need to be skeptical", said Olivia. "How do you be skeptical?" , asked Jacob. "It means to be like someone looking for clues" , said Olivia. "Ok then what do I do?" , asked Jacob.
" Look at their sites and see if theirs an author" , said Olivia. Finally they found that the whole site was fake after all of that Jacob researched on real octopuses in the sea. We'll see what happens with that research soon!

What I learned this past weeks about website checking. Always see the date it was mad. If it has all about me or all about us click it. See if the thing there shoeing is real. Are they talking about the topic there on. For example there talking about tigers for the website then they talk about monkeys. it's most likely fake. Be skeptical ask QUESTIONS if that's right or not. Look up the author see if there an expert on the subject. See if at the end it has .org.gov or.edu. See if they have spelling or capital errors if they didn't work hard. If they have have made good websites you mite be able to trust them. If you know they have photo shop it's properly fake. Hope you like it(: (:

It has to end with a .org. gov. edu. if you want a accurate one. If your doing a report on something you have to check the date if its near the date your on then its approved by scientists. If the author tells about him or her like if they did it before or something like a website they can probably be able to trust them on what they are telling about what your subject is about. Check if it is real. So if you see something that looks strange then look it up and if it is int real then find a new website and if you see something strange again then you know what to do so do it again.

Today we are going to learn about not getting fake stuff on the computer!!!!!! 1.) Look at the ending thing. Example(s) .edu .gov & .org. 2.) Look for the author if you cant find it might be fake. 3.) Look for the date it might be a old website and (as you know) science HAS changed.4.) Look for spelling errors if there are errors, the creator probably rushed through it. 5.) Just be skeptical. 6.) Ask questions if you see something that's off ask questions. 7.) Is the source reliable, would you bookmark it for future research? 8.) Is the author a expert? if you STILL can't find it the author might not be a expert. Also ask yourself is this stuff hard to believe, if so IT'S FAKE!!!!! Thank you for taking time to read "Gretchen's tips for not getting fake stuff on the computer"!!!!!!!
