This is one of my favourite books of all time, in fact, my favourite author as well. I particularly love Knuffle Bunny books as they remind me of my children growing up, and they have JellyCat bunnies that we would have to take anywhere with us, and get lost in Hong Kong!. Knuffle Bunny Free is a little bit sad for me as my kids are growing up too, but they still love their bunnies!

Every female athlete mentioned in the book, playing their favourite sport, had to go through many TOUGH challenges before they became #1! I have always loved Roald Dahl stories as it reminds me of my childhood when I read his stories for the first time. "James and the Giant Peach" fosters imagination and creativity through its strange and magical story. It explores friendship and belonging as James forms friendships with anthropomorphic insects, teaching resilience and the importance of overcoming adversity. The humour in the word choice and characters makes it entertaining and fun to read. Although there are small illustrations, the real magic lies in using your imagination to visualize the characters during their big adventure.

Opening the pages of Rosie Revere Engineer, readers are welcomed into the life of another one of Ms Greer's students (Remember Izzy Peck and Aaron Slater?). As Rosie lets her curiosity and creativity guide her to invent a wide assortment of intriguing contraptions, I feel inspired, myself, to see what I can upcycle and create. When Rosie feels like she's failed, I feel her disappointment too. Author Andrea Beattie has, once again, written a relatable,rhyming story with a wonderful message for children and adults alike: be curious, be creative and remember that what we see as failures are actually great learning opportunities. This is definitely a book you should read together!!!

I really like 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas' because it’s a powerful story about friendship and innocence during a difficult time in history. I love the book "Get Out of Bed" by Robert Munsch because it is very silly, funny and has great illustrations. The story is about a determined little girl who just can’t wake up in the morning. Robert Munsch uses fun, repetitive language to encourage kids to read along. Be prepared to laugh out loud when reading this book!!

Julia Donaldson is my favourite author and I love all of her books. Monkey Puzzle is my favourite because it's funny and we get to meet lots of new characters throughout the story.

I love this rhyming picture book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys funny stories.

The three Baddies, a witch, a troll and a ghost, are hilarious characters who fight over which of them is the scariest. When a new kid arrives to live in the village, they each try their best to frighten her, but with no luck.

As you’d expect with a Julia Donaldson book, everything turns out for the best in the end. The new kid shows people the importance of kindness, and the baddies learn their lesson!

I hope you enjoy it as much as I do - watch out for a KJS performance of the story later this term!

“Restart” by Gordon Korman is recommended for upper primary students. It is a novel about Chase Ambrose, once a popular football player and known to be a bully, who loses his memory after a fall. With no recollection of his past upon his return to school, Chase gets a second chance to rebuild his identity and discover who he truly wants to be.

I like this book because the storyline takes the reader through multiple perspectives, showing both Chase’s struggles and the way his classmates view him. The writing captures the tension between his past and present self, and how he navigates relationships to build new friendships, repair old ones, and question the kind of person he wants to become. “Restart” sparks important discussions about empathy, forgiveness, and the possibility of change. I love all the books by Julia Donaldson and Monkey Puzzle is one of my absolute favourites. When my own children were younger, this was one of the books they always wanted me to read to them and I read it so often I think I can still remember it without actually having the book in front of me! It's a very funny story which is full of adventure. The illustrations by Axel Scheffler are beautiful and the story follows a little monkey who has lost his mum in the jungle. With the help of a kind, but rather confused butterfly he searches high and low to find her. It has lots of rhyming words and quite a fewsurprises along the way to a heartwarming happy ending.
