This view was considered revolutionary at the time. But the truth is these ideals only serve to flatter oneself and serve little to no purpose in actual morality. The problem in there logic is that they are trying to make truth a subjective topic rather than an objective fact. The difference is in a little bit of a morbid example "it is wrong to murder" this would be an objective fact accepted by many religions and peoples. But if everyone looked to themselves for the rules you would have people potentially, that disagree that murder is okay. The problem now is that the deist have made truth subjective meaning that "everyone is right in there own eye".
