The London Eye is a large ferris wheel located on the South Bank of the River Thames in London, United Kingdom. It is the tallest ferris wheel in Europe7 and the most popular tourist attraction in the United Kingdom with more than 3.75 million visitors per year.8

It is 135 m high and the circle of the ferris wheel has a diameter of 120 m. When it opened to the public in 2000 it was the tallest ferris wheel in the world. However, its height was exceeded by the Nanchang Star (160 m) in 2006, the Singapore Flyer (165 m) in 2008, and the Las Vegas High Roller (168 m) in 2014. Supported by a structure with A shape only on the one hand, unlike the tallest ferris wheels in Nanchang and Singapore, the London Eye is described by its owners as "the tallest cantilever ferris wheel in the world."

The London Eye was the tallest public viewpoint in London10 until it was surpassed by the viewpoint located on the 72nd floor of The Shard, 245 m high, 11 which opened to the public on February 1, 2013.12

The London Eye borders the west side of the Jubilee Gardens (which previously housed the former Dome of Discovery), and is located on the South Bank of the River Thames between Westminster Bridge and Hungerford Bridge, next to the Condal Hall, in the Municipality of Lambeth.

The Elizabeth Tower, formerly known as Clock Tower and popularly known as Big Ben, was built as part of the design of a new palace, after the old Palace of Westminster was destroyed by fire on the night of October 16, 1834.8 9 The new Parliament was built in neo-Gothic style. Although Barry was the chief architect of the Palace, he commissioned Augustus Pugin to design the clock tower, which is similar to other Pugin designs, including one for Scarisbrick Hall, a country house located in Lancashire. The design of the clock tower was Pugin's last before falling into depression and madness, and when Barry last visited him to pick up his designs, Pugin wrote: «Never in my life had I worked so hard for the Lord Barry, tomorrow I will deliver the designs to finish his bell tower and it is magnificent. ”The tower is also designed in neo-Gothic style and has a height of 96.3 meters (around 16 floors).
