         <description><![CDATA[<div>My name is Song Pei Xin who is the first year Quantity Surveying student of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) for the academic session of 2022/2023. One of my passions since I was a kid is to become an actor. As the saying goes, action is better than excitement. I decided to join Drama Club after I study in USM when I have the chance to take part in. However, I understand that I need to manage my time wisely to cater both of the Drama Club and Quantity Surveying course with my good time management. Although it might be challenging, but having motivation and positive thinking can help to overcome it.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In Project 1A, it is really hard for me to sketch my face on a small square box since my drawing is not good. I had taken a picture of myself and practiced for few times. Although it is still not the perfect one, but at least I gave it my all. For the lettering, I referred to the workshop video on Architecture Lettering that shared in the e-learn USM. I found out the video is useful for me to practice and write the architectural writing nicely.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I have chosen 11 actors for my Project 1B. I did some research for the related information of the actors in built environment via the Internet and prepared a draft to ask for the comment from my senior before I started the infographic. I also searched some image related to the built environment and I decided to draw a building which is still being constructed. The words were done by using Artline Drawing System pen while the colouring part were done by using water colour.</div>]]></description>

         <title>PROJECT 1C: FACE MASK</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The theme of my face mask is nature and it needs to reflect my personality. Therefore, I had chosen cactus as the title of my face mask to represent my personality as the strong appearance is often just a cover for the fragile heart. The part that challenge me the most is how should I make a mask during quarantine within just few materials. I searched the video on how to make a mask through YouTube and I finally did it for the third trial. Firstly, I used only tissue paper and masking tapes but it was too soft so it is rejected. Secondly, I used my sketching paper as the foundation of my mask and sticked with masking tape. However, the water colour could not paint on the masking tape cause it to be rejected. For the third trial, I reused the second trial mask as my masking tape was finished. I had combine the idea with the first trial mask so that I pasted the tissue paper on the face sheet with some white glue. Lastly, I coloured the mask with white colour to represent my weak character.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In this project, I have more understanding about myself in all aspects. As a newbie to this field, I have gained some knowledge and ideas about quantity surveying and the roles of the actors in the built environment. Although I am not good in drawing and colouring but I enjoyed them very much in this project especially in Project 1B. Besides, I learnt to manage my time to present all the three tasks in the time given. However, the part that need improvement the most is my presentation skills.</div>]]></description>

         <title>PROJECT 2A: HOUSING DEVELOPMENT PROCESS</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This task was group work. The property development process is divided into 12 stages. The group leader distributed the assignment to everyone after having discussion with each group member through Whatsapp and I&nbsp; would be in charged for "Design Development" stage. After distributing the task, we looked up the details for our individual stages and reported on that particular section ourselves. I gathered all the data through online journals and articles. After we have done for our part, we compile the report to check the grammar and also to check the plagiarism using the turnitin. The most challenges that we faced was the percentage of the plagiarism was high, this cause some of the parts of our report need to be edited.  Lastly, the group leader converted the report to pdf format and passed up within the due date.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>This task was individual work. Our understanding of the many actors' responsibilities at different stages of housing development is required for Project 2B. A certain set of talents are required at each level in order to finish the work at hand. They may all be connected to one another and aid in the project's ultimate building. We were each required to select 6 of the 12 stages, with no repeat permitted within our group. As a result, to prevent any repetition during the group discussion, we have a list of everyone's preferred phases. I then conducted some research to determine who was involved in each step and what their job duties were.</div>]]></description>

For this task, we had to create a three-person sub-group. After a brief discussion, we decided to investigate the "Safety Issues and Site Accidents" issue. In the sub-group, we distributed the task as I in charged for the safety issues and site accidents including type, example and importance. We did our part first then compiled it together. Then, XinJie who was in charged for the presentation slide, sent them after she has done it. Lastly, we present our own part for the video presentation.</div>]]></description>

In this project, I also learnt the importance of teamwork. Although some of the group member and I were not the editor of the report, but we helped each other to check and edit the entire report to ensure the quality of the report is good. Without one of the team members' cooperation, the work will not be done successfully.</div>]]></description>

         <title>PROJECT 3A: GEOMETRICAL CONNECTION MODEL</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Project 3A requires us to create a 3D model of our own outdoor fitness equipment. We had to decide on a theme for our equipment as a group of 10 so that we could select appropriate colours and materials. Finally, we discussed and decided on "Eco Friendly" as our theme and "Family Hour" as our group concept. Therefore, I designed a "Ride &amp; Up Machine" for all aged group. I used newspaper and wooden sticks as my primary materials. As I made my model using wooden sticks, it was hard for me to cut it down by only using a small cutter which took a lot of my energy. It was also rather difficult to me and took a long time to stick the wooden sticks as they kept absorbed the super glue and injured my fingers.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In this task, a two-point perspective drawing, isometric drawing, plan and elevations were drawn. I found it was difficult because this was my first time to have these drawing. I search the YouTube videos for the curve drawing in perspective and isometric but I failed to draw them. Finally, I had asked my father that really expert in this field for teaching me and guiding me to draw these 3 drawings as I have no basis for them. At last, I successfully produced these 3 drawings with my few time pratising.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>From this project, I learnt how to draw technical drawings such as perspective drawings, isometric drawing and also elevations drawing. In this project, I need to have a creative thinking to mix elements from other designs I had in order to include all of my thoughts into a single design as the outdoor gym equipment required to be multifunction. In addition, I learnt to have critical thinking skills because I had to decide which materials may be utilised and take into account each material's characteristics.</div>]]></description>

This project, we were tasked with building a 3D model of a gazebo. So my group was given the task of building a gazebo with a theme of kampung style restaurant. Prior to that, we had to do precedent studies of three modern gazebos in order to identify our own design concept, structural features, and building materials for the gazebo of our choice.          <title>PROJECT 4A: GAZEBO &amp; PRECEDENT STUDIES</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>First, I searched for the pictures and example for the gazebo design of the kampung restaurant through the Internet. I started creating my own gazebo by mixing elements from each of the precedent studies after completing online research to find out the dimensions, location, form, materials, primary structures, uses, and aesthetic values of all the gazebos in the precedent studies. After my studio master approved my design, I started with my model referring to my drawings. The scale of my model is 1:15. Because I used thick wooden stick to make my model, I had to saw it one by one into the desired size of the component. I completed the model in a total of three days. Although the process took long time and tough but I really found it to be enjoyable.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In this task, we need to prepare 3 boards.<br><br>My first board was the plan and elevation drawings. I drew the drawing by using scale ruler with the scale of 1:25. I drew all the 2D drawings based on my design draft before making my model.&nbsp;<br><br>My second board was the structural components with the design concept of my gazebo. The structural components were labelled from the isometric drawings. I wrote the components and design concept by using architecture lettering.<br><br>My third board was the specifications and materials for the gazebo. I searched for all the related information of the materials used from online sources. Besides, I wrote down the materials used and the dimension for the specific components of the actual size in the specifications. For the material part, I have searched for the benefits or the reason why the materials have been chosen to use for the components of the gazebo.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The biggest error I made with this project was misreading the specification for the clear height of the gazebo. I first mistook the term "clear height" to refer to the distance between the ground and the roof because my gazebo is raised from the ground. Rather, the clear height should be the distance from the floor of the gazebo to the top of the roof. Therefore, I need to redraw my elevation drawings before I continue to my model. It took me an extra time to redo the drawings. As the saying goes, "Everyone makes mistakes," therefore this is my time to learn from my mistakes.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Brief Description:<br>This project was the final project which was to construct a bungalow according to the plans provided. We must choose the building's components, size, installation strategy, and materials in this project, which is essentially a combination of all we have learnt from previous projects. In order to decide the size of the home, the placement of features like windows and doors, and the orientation of the house's sections and components such as the stairs, terrace and porch, we had to comprehend the building flow and analyse the overall plan layout. In addition, we had to create a technical drawing of the house's elevations and specifications for the materials and building parts.</div>]]></description>

         <title>PROJECT 5A: PLAN AND MODEL</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>After Dr. Norhidayah's briefing, my group, Group 3, had a discussion to decide how to divide up the assigned tasks. Since I am more familiar with drawing, I decided to take on the elevation drawing portion. As this project was an group task, so I continued to multitask in the model section. So, at the start of our project, we had another meeting to interpret the plan and design of our bungalow, and discuss about the sizes, materials, and installation methods for each of the elements. All of the team members were taking part in this model part to build a bungalow in the scale of 1:30. We bought the materials such as mounting board for the wall of the model, ice cream sticks for the roof of the model and also wooden sticks for the column of the model. This model took 4 days to finish it&nbsp;as it was more complicated compared to the previous projects.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I did my part, which was technical drawing at the start of the process, so that the model team could begin their work based on the detailed. In the technical drawings, I was in charged for the elevations part. The scale for the elevations is 1:100 based on the actual size of the bungalow. Then, another 3 team members in charged for the specification part. I helped them to search some of the materials and installation method for each elements through online sources. After we have done for the technical drawing and have approved from our studio master, we proceeded with the modelling process. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Joshabel, Kamarul and Rolland were reporting on this project. After we decided what to be used for the sustainable features which are the ways to optimize energy use, protect and conserve water, optimize building space and material use, and the ways to enhance indoor environment quality, they did some research from the Internet. After they have done the report, they sent to the group to let others check. When we have completed the model, they added some pictures of the model in the report to show the plans and the components. Once the report done, they converted the report to pdf format and submitted.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In this project, I have improved my leadership skills as leading the team members in the modelling process to ensure the model was in the correct progress. During the process, I learnt not to give up because the materials and few pieces of mounting board wall were missing after we have done them and left them in the studio. We needed to spent extra time to remeasure and redo those few pieces of wall. From this lesson, we brought back all the materials and the model back to the hostel to prevent them from missing again. Besides, I understood the importance of teamwork. If our team members did not give full cooperation in the discussion and in the modelling process, our model could not be done in time. Although our model was not the best among the groups, but we have gave it all.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>As a student studying quantity surveying, I was not prepared for this kind of teaching strategy. When starting for the course, I had no idea what to anticipate from a studio for quantity surveying. By the end of the day, I was truly enjoying the process of completing all the projects even though the assignments were challenging. This course exposes me to more things including drawing, lettering and presenting. When I was doing these projects, I could observed my strength and weakness to help myself to have a better improvement. In addition, the best memories I have from my university years are the ones where I was able to participate in actual classrooms, interact with classmates in person, and do assignments with them. Last but not least, I would like to thank all the master studios who gave me a tonne of advice on how to improve my studio works.</div>]]></description>
