Three Areas I Have Improved On

1. Previously, I was struggling to retain information just by lecture and note taking. In this course, I learned that I am a visual/kinesthetic learner. Therefore, I have been able to apply it to the other classes that I am in by making flashcards, visual aids and taking notes in different colors. I have been able to improve because I surrounded myself with others that have the same learning style as me. We bounce off of each other and learn different things from one another.

2. I suffer from test anxiety. However, in this course I was taught how to cope with it. I eliminate all negative thoughts from my mind prior to a test. I take deep breaths and I also visualize my success. I also reward myself when I accomplish my goal. I have been able to improve because I want better grades on tests. I also want less stress.

3. Before, I would pay only the minimum balance to my credit card. After learning how interest accrues, I decided that I would rather pay off my credit card in full after each purchase. I have been able to improve because the thought of wasting money is sickening.

Three Areas I Still Need to Work On

1. One area I still need to work on is my time management skills. I have a very busy schedule which includes working full-time, staying fit, school and a family. I need to designate a certain amount of time to each area, especially school. Many days I am overwhelmed with everything I have to do in one day. I could use Counseling Services when I am stressed and I could use the Library in order to zone in and focus on homework instead of being distracted at home.

2. I still need to work on my listening skills. If the instructor isn't exciting, I tend to zone out a lot during lecture. This leads me to being lost when class is over. The Academic Advising office may be able to help me with finding an instructor that better suits me. However, in most cases, I will just have to adjust to the speaker, using good listening techniques. This means I need to get my mind in the right place, focus, ask questions and take notes.

3. Another thing I still need to work on is my writing skills. Sometimes I feel like I jump around on my papers and don't stay focused. The Writing Center could help me by tutoring me, ultimately helping me write a better paper.

Five Things I Learned That Will Help Me Be Successful

1. I learned to make sure I set aside time for myself in order to free myself of stress and relax. I think this will help me be successful because it gives me time away from life and responsibilities in order to come back fresh and ready to go.
2. I learned not to procrastinate but prioritize. This will help me be successful because with a life as busy as mine, there needs to be organization in order to see success.
3. Take advantage of the study resources on campus, such as tutors and study groups. This will help me be successful when I am struggling to pass a class.
4. I learned that it is a good idea to build experience during down time in order to be more considered for the job you want. This will help me be successful because it will be easier to get my foot in the door.
5. I learned to try to avoid multitasking, as you will get less done when working on multiple things at once. This will help me be successful because I can focus on one thing at a time.
