The backdrop is very detailed that also shows her shadow. I could have improved on this image by showing a more detailed portrait of her face, but the background softens, with the foreground showing the patterns in the sand without detracting from the portrait itself. I should have put her more in the centre of the shot. It was taken early in the morning just outside the front window of my family home where the grevillea ( the lorikeet is perched on the branch) The image shows incredible detail of the colours and even the eye of the lorikeet and the shape, form of its beak. It was taken mid morning but would have been good to take the photo at dusk as the natural light would have given a very different mood with the outdoor lighting automatically coming on as the sun goes down, the play of light would have highlighted the building as a backdrop creating different shadow effects on the blank white wall of this building. The duckling in to the rear is preening itself and you can just see the slashes of water as it flicks out from the feathers during the preening. The detail of the eye and face of the front duckling captures the look as it watches the environment it is surrounded by.
