They will become more critical of themselves and what art they are creating.  Much of a school-age child's life revolves around their social interactions. They are becoming more aware of their own actions, as well as the actions of others. With this awareness, as well as the self-criticisms, often comes comparison. As the child ages they begin to draw based on how things depicted in reality, rather than their imagination. Body parts will become more realistic and less exaggerated than in previous stages.
