Staff and pupils dress up as their favourite book character. Our principal visits the classrooms with his favourite book and reads aloud to the children. We hold a Scholastic Book Fair during this week where children can purchase Scholastic books and we, as a school, earn commission on all the books sold. We then use this money to buy new books for our classroom libraries. I always visit the local library in Portlaosie twon centre with my pupils and ALWAYS make a trip especially during book week. We also do a very enjoyable activity called Buddy Reading where pupils from the senior classes visit the younger classes and 

read their own book to them or listen to the younger children reading. This is a lovely way to get the older children to engage in a different way with our younger pupils. 

We have also done a fun quiz called The Masked Reader where a teacher puts on a mask and reads a story aloud and the pupils have to guess the identity of the teacher who is reading. The children LOVE this. I hope you have enjoyed learning about Book Week in PETNS. 

The children arrived in costumes with their favourite books.They participated in outdoorworkshops on the theme of fairy tales (orienteering course, observation game, memory game, charades, meeting an author etc.) and in the classroom created mini-books.The day was a success and ended with a snack.
