It involves taking action to support the victim or address the issue at hand, unlike being a bystander, who does not intervene.</p></li><li><p>Challenges to being an upstander include fear of retaliation, social pressure to conform, uncertainty about what to do, and concerns about safety or consequences.</p></li><li><p>One example of being an upstander is intervening in a bullying situation at school by speaking out against the bullying, offering support to the victim, or reporting the incident to a teacher.</p></li></ol>]]></description>
