It took him 21 days to travel from the United States to Germany, they had to take a troop ship instead of a plane. They got to stop in Spain and visit a winery and explore the area. Once in Germany, He stayed in for 19 months. He said that if he didn't leave for Germany when he did, he would've had to serve in Vietnam and is glad he was in Germany rather than Vietnam.

He said he "watched him make wine and drink beer on a daily basis." and he would get in trouble for playing with his tools because he didn't want Milo to get hurt. His grandfather would also read him jokes in the paper and explain what the jokes meant.

Milo said the hardest thing he ever had to do was seeing his son Brian and wife Mary become terminally ill and pass away. Milo was the primary caregiver for both of them as they became ill. He said it was especially hard with his wife Mary because she was unable to make her own decisions while Brian was still able to make his own decisions. After both of their passing, he said there was a big void in his life. Milo is a very selfless man and is always taking care of his family first!
