Lab tests may be carried out to diagnose Crohn's, most specifically through blood tests including:
  • Antibody Tests - Help doctors distinguish whether you have Crohn's or ulcerative colitis. 
  • Complete Blood Count - Checks for anemia and infection 
  • C-reactive Protein - Looks for this protein which is a signal of inflammation
  • Electrolyte Panel - Body may have a low potassium count if you have a Crohn's-releated diarrhea
  • Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate
  • Iron and B12 Levels
  • Liver Function

  • Fistulas
  • Bleeding that is life threatening
  • Intestinal obstructions
  • Side effects from medicines when they threaten your health
  • Symptoms when medicines do not improve your conditions

Surgerys include:
  • Small bowel resection
  • Subtotal colectomy
  • Proctocolectomy and ileostomy
