It was a period of innovation and discovery, and an accurate representation of society (realism) was becoming more prevalent. I found a common theme among some of the pieces which is finding ones self purpose, truth, and spirituality.




This is a song that talks about finding  yourself while going through life, which relates to the theme I was previously speaking about. Finding your self and purpose through conflict and life. The pieces called out the reality of the people's lives from different social classes . I do not believe that people of lower class or status were represented through writing from their perspective so openly  previously.

The Anglo Saxon period is a time that I have particularly been interested in for quite a while now. I had previously studied on my own about the people of this time and  the Anglo Saxon Kingdoms (Mercia, Wessex, East Anglia, etc.) and their interactions with the Norseman. Which is why "Beowulf" is a piece that stood out to me, an epic poem of the Old English Period, I enjoyed the story with elements of heroism and adventure.

I love my fair share of supernatural elements, and suspense in a story. I am able to escape reality for just a bit, and dive into brand new world and adventure. The Victorian Period of literature was the forerunner to the amazing fictional creative writings today, including world famous novels of this period, such as Sherlock Holmes, and Dracula.


The BBC article below describes how the Sherlock Holmes franchise has left and impact that is still prevalent to this very day. One of the most populars pieces of literature of the Victorian Period.
