Based on the first Math Quarterly Assessment, students needed more practice with measurement.

Questions to consider and respond:

1. How did your students do on the "retesting" of questions 5 and 6 on the Math Quarterly Assessment #1 as compared to the first time tested?

2. What were some strategies that worked extremely well with your students?

3. What are your next steps in regards to this standard and mathematical practice?

1. My students did a bit better. Last time I had 6 students who missed the measurement problem.

This time I only had 4 students miss it out of 19 students.

2. The strategy that worked for me was for students to actually slide their finger to the object that was being measured. This way they would stop to measure a length that was not there. You have to see the test problem to understand what I'm talking about.

3. My next steps are to continue to work in small group instruction with those students who missed the problem.

1. On Quarterly Assessment #1 questions 5 and six my scores are as follows:

7 scored 100%

7 scored 50%

3 scored 0%

When I retested my students on the same questions my results were as follows:

11 socred 100%

4 scored 50%

1 scored 0%

1 absent

So based on those scores my students actually made some really good gains.

2. We reviewed using non-standard forms of measurement during calendar and through the use of our math conpendium.

3. Those students who missed the problem are my lower students and/or ESL students so I will just have to continue working with them and providing them with more visual representations of the problems.
