Working in a group and listening to my group members' interpretations helped me understand the story differently. The fact that we first did three concept maps according to each one’s interpretation then discussed and combined them together made us all organize our thoughts and make contributions. We mostly agreed on the ideas but of course we had our disagreements, for example: I looked at the war as a reason for the mother’s skeptical, reluctant, and cold character but Rawan did not agree with me, and when she explained to me her perspective I was actually convinced. Also, my group members helped me look at the story from a different perspective, for example: Mira saw the son’s character in a more positive light than I did; While I saw him as someone who is characterless and lacks belonging to his homeland, she saw his character as a representation for someone who has the ability to move on and adapt himself to different circumstances, which is an ability that his mother did not have, and that was not necessarily bad or negative about him! Overall, our discussion was fruitful and our different perspectives helped us analyze the story more efficiently.

MY group member helped me to be more motivated while doing this assignment,I felt more committed.
The constructive feedback that I gained from my peers about my ideas, helped me to see more sides of the story that I didn't think about before. Each one of us added different thoughts, the challenging and exciting part was explaining our ideas to each other's and trying to convince each other and in the end, get a final answer that all of us agreed on.
