Hello, Dr. Stordy

These were the instructions given to assemble a logical design from a conceptual diagram, in the video on physical design the gallery database was designed differently from these instructions, I find myself being confused between the instructions given and what to implement actually.

Are we creating the painting table because it is a more elegant solution?

If so, does that mean that these instructions are not a hard and fast rule?

Sir, for NUMBER(1,1) I feel 0.1 will be accepted, 1.0 will not be accepted and 1 will be undertaken as 1.0 hence will not be accepted.

Could you please correct me if I have mistaken ?

UNIQUE and NOT NULL

I'm still not sure when to add NOT NULL and when is not. Sometimes there's a PK and FK that has it, sometimes not. The same with UNIQUE.

Adding a foreign key for look-up

Regarding this slide with the example of look up, I'd like to ask you why the foreign key for reference (THAMES_YACHT_TYPE_LU) is not included in the table (THAMES_YACHT) as an additional column. Is it because values in look-up table don't need to be added as an additional column unlike other foreign keys we learned?

I have confusion in number data type in oracle.If Number(4,1), what would be 123.1 or 12.10 or 12.1?
