Hello everybody! Teachers should take into consideration the learning styles of their students and the multiple intelligences when planning their lessons. For example, using different materials and a variety of activities. Maybe doing some handcrafts activities like origami or making puppets. Bringing realia to teach clothes and accessories. Making a simple recipe. From time to time bring a song activity, or play English songs while children work individually, in groups, etc. When writing on the board I like to use different colors. I love drawing on the board, making diagrams and mindmaps. There many other strategies we use but sometimes we forgot. Thanks for reading, written by Angélica Sánchez Jaime.

Accelerative learners, strategies, those techniques are beneficial to teach to your students because you can implement them in your planning for different learning styles, however, could be considered their multiple intelligence, for your students, which helps you to reach your activities when you consider all kinds of multiple intelligence student.

When planning their activities, a chose the topic and there are some of the activities, I implement in my class.

for example, in “body parts” watch a video, listen, look at the pictures, compare the image with the word, and touch each part of your body this activity you can do by a team, all the group, in pairs etc. Would you like to implement the tactic of physical response?

In my experience, I consider that the use of the TPR are very useful resources and represent a fun way of learning for students. Seeing, hearing, saying, and especially doing are elements of communications that work together make language lesson memorable. Chats and songs with physical actions are examples of using the TPR approach. A movement activity is considered to be TPR when the languages and the actions match.

For example: (TPR Storytelling). Storytelling is added in such a way that teacher and student use physical motions and gestures to illustrate and drive vocabulary, so, in the telling of a story may include a climbing motion. Another example of using TPR with commands to teach the vocabulary of body parts.

The implementation of learning abilities helps students become aware of their cognitive abilities, for this, I like to implement activities, such as acceleration, which consists of playing music for them at the beginning of the class while they relax continuously. On other occasions, the students perform exercises where they use all the parts of the body while I quickly tell them which part of their body they should touch. We call this technique active pause, which is useful when the students are distracted. I like to use the projector to present material and even videos to get their attention, for example, students watch a video of a character doing various activities, later, at the end of the video, students have to remember how many verbs the character in the video executed. Accelerated learning is a great support resource for us teachers.

By Maribel Becerra Valencia

Accelerate teaching and learning techniques and methodologies help us improve our day to day teaching and to have motivating and engaging lessons, where students will have fun and learn at the same time. Creating a positive learning environment and taking into consideration the learning styles (VAK), multiple intelligences, TPR, scaffolding and more techniques will help us achieve the learning goals as well as to improve the proficiency of our students.

Since we have heterogeneous groups and not all students have had previous contact with the language, by using different approaches, songs, arts and crafts, we will reach all students and we will help them learn easier and to be enthusiastic about learning English. We must also remember the importance of learning and teaching to ensure replicable results with all of our groups.
Cristina Guevara Campos
