When they were on the boat going to the U.S., they weren't allowed to eat so they went without food for nearly two weeks. When they got to the United States, they didn't have anything. They had to learn English and get a job. My grandpa was a doctor and my mom was a pharmacist in Vietnam, but when they came to the U.S. they couldn't be what they were in Vietnam. They didn't have any degrees in the U.S. in order to become a doctor or pharmacist. My aunts and uncles had to get new jobs too.
