J hus is credited to be an early pioneer to the genre "Afroswing" which is an Afrobeats-Bashment-HipHop fusion developed in the UK during the Mid 2010's. J Hus mainly explores themes of gang lifestyle, rags to riches, and relationships with friends and intimate partners (Navarro, C. 2019, November 26) . J Hus' 'Deeper Than Rap' is a poetic song that tells the tales of the lessons he's learned throughout his rough upbringing and his new found maturity after his release from Prison in 2019 (Genius. n.d.).

Popcaan is widely known for specialising in the Dancehall Genre. Popcaan was also known for being a part of Vybz Kartel's "Gaza Music Empire" group, known for producing a sound shaped by the city of Portmore, Jamaica (Biography. Popcaan. n.d.). In Popcaan's song 'Silence', he explores themes of betrayal and being wary those you surround yourself with (Lyricsmode.com. 2018, July 2022).

His music gravitated toward a more 'Street-oriented' approach, telling stories about his rough upbringing, trials and tribulations, and a road from rags to riches (Encyclopedia.com 2024, Febuary 21). This can be seen on his hit song 'Many Men (Wish Death)' from his album 'Get Rich or Die Trying'. This track tells the tale of the near death experience he had where some of his old friends put a bounty on his head and got him shot 9 times. The song talks about how he's now more cautious of who he is friends with, and overcoming this hardship to become the best version of himself that he can be (Genius. 2003, May 6).

He is signed to Virgin Records, VP Records, and MD Entertainment. Beenie Man entered the music scene at the age of 5 in the late 70's inspiried by his uncle who is a drummer for famous reggae legend, Jimmy Cliff. The 1990's was the era where Danchall music started to gain popularity which is also around the same period of time that Beenie Man rose to stardom internationally and gained respect amongst other popular jamaican deejays at the time. Beenie Man also recorded most of his tracks in the Shocking Vibes studio in his hometown of Jamaica in the early 1990's where he considered it to be his artistic home (Allmusic. n.d.). Beenie Man covers themes of male promiscuity and Party culture as seen in his track 'King of the Dancehall', which is a song that mainly talks about how he is always entangled in sexual activities with women and is the self proclaimed 'King of Danchall' (Genius. 2004, July 13).

Skepta was well known for shaping the UK Grime sound which was a fusion of Hip-Hop and Hardcore techno, electronic sound (Masterclass. 2021, June 8). Grime was usually very fast paced and energetic. Skepta started his career as a DJ with his Tottenham based collective 'Meridian Crew. In 2007, Skepta released his debut album 'Greatest Hits' which showcased his raw grime sound and his energetic flow, and tounge twisting and brain tickling word play. This can be seen in his track 'I Spy', where him and his music group 'Boy Better Know' make a track talking about their newfound wealth thanks to their hard work and discipline in focusing on music.

He started his career in 1993 with his first recording "Love Fat Woman". In his early days, he was a part of a three man group called "Vybz Cartel" which is the name he decided to keep after thy split up. Vybz Kartel ended up becoming a protege of Jamaican dancehall artist, Bounty Killer (McGee, V. 2018, December 7). Kartel rose to popularity in 2003, after having a number of hit songs in Jamaica, and in 2009, he debuted on the Billboard Top 100 Singles Chart with his song "Romping Shop" on a collaboration with fellow Jamaican deejay, Spice (Dancehall.mobi. n.d.). The topics Vybz Kartel discusses in his music are usually along the lines of Partying, Come up stories, and Intimate relations with women. Vybz Kartel's most popular song "Fever" was released whilst he was convicted in prison in 2016. The song was based around the love he had for a girl that was so strong that it metaphorically gave him a fever (Genius. 2016, June 10).

Jay-Z can be heard on some recordings in the Late 1980's and Early 1990's, but was first known to a wide audience on Big Daddy Kane's posse cut "Show and Prove" (Robbie. 2019, December 23). Jay-Z is well known for not writing his music down and leaving his lyrics up to purely his memory. Jay-Z's raps a usually autobiographical, usually talking about his rough upbringing, failed relationships, his criminal past, as well as his road to riches and success stories (Bilmes, A. 2017, June 28).

Has beem signed to multiple record labels including VP Records, Island Records. Buju is a rastafarian. He is known to be the man who revolutionised modern dancehall music by using live instrumentation and singing about topics of social consciousness that is usually associated with classic roots reggae. Banton also started DJ'ing at the young age of 13 and made his first recording in 1986 with his single "The Ruler" (AllMusic. n.d.).
