In Week 5, I learned how important project scope is in ensuring a project stays within time and budget constraints. This chapter helped me understand the difference between project scope and product scope, and how clearly defining deliverables prevents issues such as scope creep and scope grope. I also learned how the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) helps break down complex projects into manageable work packages, making planning, estimation, and control more effective. Understanding the difference between deliverables and milestones improved my awareness of how project progress is measured and validated. Overall, this chapter showed me that proper scope planning, supported by a well-structured WBS and reliable estimation techniques, is essential for successful project management.

In Week 6, I completed Test Assessment 1, which assessed my understanding of the key project management concepts covered in the earlier weeks of the course. The test required me to recall and apply theoretical knowledge, reinforcing my understanding of topics such as project scope, planning processes, and core terminology. Preparing for the test helped me identify areas where I was confident and areas that needed further revision, particularly in understanding how different project management concepts connect to one another. Overall, the test was a valuable checkpoint that helped consolidate my learning and encouraged me to improve my study strategies for future assessments.

In Week 7, I learned how important risk management is in ensuring a project’s success and how risks can affect scope, schedule, cost, and quality. This week helped me understand that risk is not only a threat but can also be an opportunity if managed properly. I learned about the structured risk management process, including risk planning, identification, analysis, response strategies, and monitoring. Tools such as SWOT analysis, risk checklists, and probability–impact analysis showed me how risks can be systematically identified and prioritized rather than handled reactively. Overall, this week strengthened my understanding that effective risk management requires early planning, stakeholder commitment, and continuous monitoring throughout the project lifecycle

In Week 8, I learned how effective stakeholder management and communication are critical to the success of a project. This week helped me understand the difference between formal and informal organizational structures, particularly how informal communication such as the “grapevine” can influence project outcomes. I also learned how to conduct a stakeholder analysis by identifying stakeholder interests, levels of influence, and appropriate engagement strategies. In addition, the introduction to project communication plans and performance reporting tools, such as earned value analysis, showed me how project progress can be monitored and clearly communicated to stakeholders. Overall, this week highlighted that clear, timely, and structured communication is essential for maintaining stakeholder support and project control

In Week 9, I learned how project quality management ensures that both project deliverables and processes meet defined standards and stakeholder expectations. This week helped me understand that quality is not just about inspection at the end, but about planning, assurance, and control throughout the project lifecycle. I learned the importance of preventing rework by defining requirements clearly early in the project, as rework becomes more costly in later phases. Concepts such as quality assurance versus quality control, along with tools like control charts, fishbone diagrams, and Pareto analysis, showed me how quality issues can be identified, analyzed, and addressed systematically. Overall, this week highlighted that continuous improvement and shared responsibility for quality are essential to delivering successful and reliable project outcomes

In Week 10, completing the business case helped me understand how important it is to clearly justify a project before it begins. This activity required me to link the project’s objectives to organizational goals by outlining the problem statement, proposed solution, expected benefits, costs, risks, and feasibility. Through this process, I learned that a strong business case supports better decision-making and provides a clear rationale for why a project should be approved and funded. Overall, this week reinforced the importance of aligning projects with strategic value and ensuring that all key factors are considered before moving forward.
