As the instructor, it is important to set rules/expectations at the beginning of the school year. Then, you must reinforce these rules/expectations and hold students accountable to them. If rules/expectations are not reinforced, students will not take them seriously and abide by them.

As the teacher, it is important to be consistent with your classroom management strategies. If you give a consequence, follow through with that consequence. This will ensure students know what to expect when they are not following expectations.

As the teacher, it is important that the students respect you, but also know you are the authority figure. You don't want to seem like a robot in front of the class because if the students don't respect you then they won't listen to you, but if you gain their respect and also make sure they know you are in charge, then classroom management will come easier.

As the teacher, it is important to make a connection with your students and interests in them as individuals. Each student should be treated as an individual and with respect. Also rewarding students for positive behavior and praising them in a positive way then a negative way.
