I see the girl enter the skiz circle after she saves Tess from the fight. I can’t decide who to vote on so I play it safe and vote for kaid. Shortly after I realized I made a mistake. She has a pretty impressive stance and she could easily beat kaid. There goes all my notes I say as she enters. I’m also confused on where a street kid got a stance like that. Maybe she has recently become a street kid or something and she used to have lessons on fighting. I have no Idea, but I hope she loses. The fight starts and I’m on my heels. It’s a pretty good fight as I can see, but the girl doesn’t look like she's even trying. I know now that I lost my bet on kaid to win. As the fight goes on I see kaid getting frustrated that she's losing so she stabs the girl with a knife. That was illegal in skiz fights and something tells me the girl knows that. Now the girl gets mad and she gives effort into the fight and ends it quickly by breaking kaids arms. That's pretty impressive not gonna lie, she would be a great asset to the team. Even though we aren’t really a team more like a duo, but she could make it a trio.

According to skiz fight rules you have to fight till you lose, but the girl doesn’t want to fight another fight and tries to make a break for it, but the crowd runs after her. She tries to scale the wall of the building I'm perched on, but the stab wound is stopping her. So I go help her up, she hesitates to accept my help. Although she eventually takes my hand and I help her up the building. I take her to me and tesses rondevu point and she thanks me. Then she introduces herself but I can't say my name because she might be a spie. Tess introduces herself to the girl whose name is June. Then Tess treats Junes injury, 🤬 kaid did a nasty move on her stabbing her hip.

We’ve taken June for investigation. She seems like she wants to kill me. I feel safe though. With guards by my side and all. We have Day and we’re going to take him to the firing squad to finish him off once and for all. I snap out of thought. June frowns and asks “Investigation?” I answer saying “Commander Jameson asked me to detain you. I have a few questions for you.” She replies. “Ridiculous. Couldn’t the commander pick a less dramatic moment for this nonsense?” I don’t reply. I can’t reply. I don’t know what to say. Deep down I still like her as more than a friend. Which is weird considering I killed her brother. We go two flights down the stairwell and enter the basement where many have been executed. The soldiers and I have to question June. An electro-bomb has gone missing and she is one of the suspects. I did an inventory check this morning and it wasn’t there. We think June has taken it and is trying to use it against us. We start asking questions. I told her about how it was missing early in the morning. She tries to deny it all although I’m not accusing her of doing anything. I don’t move my hand from my gun. She keeps trying to deny it until I say “Answer the question, June.” She doesn’t look scared, but she does have that look on her face. As if she thinks she’s gonna die right here right now. It’s now coming down to this very moment. You either tell me, June, or I’ll have no other choice. “I don’t want to do this,” I say. “But I did find it strange that you spent so much time questioning Day. Do you feel sorry for him now? Did you set something up to-” I can’t finish my sentence. A huge explosion goes off. The electro-bomb! June shoves me against the wall and bolts. “Stop her!” I curse. My gun won’t do anything. That stupid electro-bomb. Who set it off? Who has it? Soldiers around me are falling over each other. I can’t bear this. I yell out, “June! You don’t get it - it’s for your own good!” She yells back at me in a fit of rage, “Yeah, is that what you told Metias?” Metias. I had practically forgotten. I still can’t believe I had killed my partner. No time to think about that though. We have bigger problems on our hands. It’s chaos all around. Soldiers everywhere. Where is June?! Men are rushing to the square. THE PATRIOTS? I don’t believe it. It all makes sense now. The criminal, Day, has escaped with June and the criminal’s brother. We rush down the halls chasing them down. They’re slowing down. Out of the blue, Day starts running towards us. The soldiers take him and are going to bring him back to the field where the firing squad was before. I try to keep up with my thoughts. June has escaped with the brother. And before I know it, they’re off. They’ve escaped from Batalla Hall.

I’m about three quarters of the way done dousing the basement floor of the Clairmont house with gasoline, when I start to smell the faintest bit of smoke. At first I didn’t think much of it, I honestly just suspected that all the Sinclairs, except for us four Liars of course, were just having a fire outdoors. After all, we weren’t going to light the house up until Mirren, Johnny, and I had finished our floors. Mirren and Johnny covering the second floor, Cady being in charge of the first floor, and myself having the duty of covering the basement floor in gas.

Strangely, the smell of smoke keeps on becoming more intense. “Hey Cady! Do you sme-” I began to yell up the stairs, when suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I saw the faintest bit of orange. Did I accidentally light something on fire?! I frantically checked my surroundings, making sure there were no sparks. Thankfully there weren’t any.

There’s no way that Cady lit the house on fire, she’s not someone who would forget that her friends are still in a house that she’s about to light up with flames! Once again, the smell of smoke grows stronger. Coming from the staircase leading down to the basement, not only did I see sparks, but I was now seeing an orange glow! Leaving my gas can behind, I began to run over to the entrance to see what the light was, for fear that it might actually be fire.

I got about four yards away from the entrance, when all of a sudden, I started to hear crackling. That sound had me scared to death. I was frozen with fear, and because of this instead of running towards the staircase, I carefully walked towards it. I was about nine feet away from the staircase when it began to collapse onto the floor! Now I knew for sure that this was a fire, and I felt unsure of whether or not I was going to make it out of this alive! Would I be able to see Cady again? What about Mirren and Johnny? Will they make it out of this too? I started to sprint towards the entrance, when I heard a faint sound.

"Johnny! Mirren! Come on guys answer me! Please say something!” It was Cady! When she said that, the basement floor had started to flood with smoke. It was becoming harder to breath by the second! As I began stumbling towards the entrance, my lungs began to fill with grey disgusting gas, and it felt like the inside of my chest was on fire! I could feel all of the individual ashes going down my throat and burning my esophagus. Now instead of only worrying about getting out of here alive, I have to worry about possible lung damage! This was only supposed to be something that would stop the aunties from fighting, not something that would cause me to die! My lungs have become filled to the brim with ashes and smoke, and even taking the smallest breath made me feel like I was being burnt alive! I was only getting small amounts of oxygen now, and my head started pounding, my mind now being affected from the lack of oxygen.

I heard footsteps coming from upstairs making their way to the basement. I started trying to scream “Cady! Help me!” but those words ended up turning into a coughing fit from all the dust, ashes, and cloudy grey air filling up the room.

Right as the basement started becoming crowded with smoke, I was moving an inch at a time, my body becoming fatigued from the lack of oxygen. I covered my face with my shirt and with all my might tried to push forward, but I was suddenly stopped by the wall of burning wood caused by the fallen staircase.

“Gat! Gat can you hear me! Please Gat say something! Not you too! Please not you!”

I had no strength left, and before I knew it, I was collapsed on the floor, desperately trying to make an attempt to escape. However, I knew that with my current state, there was no way I was going to make it out of this alive. “Cady. I just want to let you know before I die. Just know that I love you, and I don’t want to leave you. I would never ever want to leave you.” I burst out coughing after saying that, and with more smoke invading my lungs, I wasn’t able to keep up my body’s demand for oxygen.

Those were the last words I tried to say to Cady, and right before I took my last ashy breath, I was able to hear her say my name one last time. After hearing my name said, my lungs began taking in more of the wretched cloudy air, and at that moment I knew that I was going to die from either suffocating, or being burnt alive. I wasn’t going to see anybody ever again, and I started shedding tears, knowing that I was going to be leaving my beloved Cadence Sinclair.

New Perspective's Peak: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart: Gat's perspective

I’m sitting on the swing at New Clairmont, watching Cady and Harris take the boat to Martha’s Vineyard. I still cannot fathom where everything went wrong. We were supposed to be clever and rebellious, doing right in the world. Instead, our worlds went up in smoke. I remember everything from that night. Cady might have thought we were all drunk, but I barely touched the wine, and Johnny was still half-way sober. It had seemed like such a well-thought-out plan; one where nothing could go wrong. How young and naive we were! I remember the self-righteousness, and indignation I felt. How dare the Sinclair sisters argue over trivial frivolous things?!? People are dying, starving, sick. And here they are, the rich yet broken Sinclairs; fighting over jewelry, statues, and riches that never cared about; riches that will stay locked up in some dusty attic as just a relic from another fight won. I know I should feel grateful that Harris allows me to stay on Beechwood summer after summer; the pity for the poor Indian boy who his grandchildren like. But all I feel is contempt for this haughty, beautiful, perfect family. Johnny and Will are more like my brothers than cousins; Mirren is like a bitter, sassy, second mother; and Cadence, oh Cadence. I fell so hard and so fast that there was no stopping it. I wished otherwise; tried so hard to stay away, but you drew me back in. Cady, I loved you so much, and I love you still, from this strange prison of a void. Leaving you is one of my only regrets. Back to that night, Cady kissed me as I went down to the basement of Clairmont. “See you in a better world”, I said, as she laughed. It was supposed to be simple; drench everything in gasoline, light it, get out, meet at Cuddledown, wash our clothes, watch the fire, call the fire department. Well, it wasn’t that simple. I was down in the basement, soaking the shelves that housed all of the gardening tools when I smelled the smoke and felt the heat. The room filled, and I started to panic; my only thought, to get out. I struggled to reach the stairs but ran into a wall of flames. I covered my mouth and nose and ran in search of another exit. Around and around I ran in the basement, futility looking for a way out. I finally collapsed, weak from oxygen deprivation. As the fire reached my body, there were no other thoughts in my head than, “I love you Cady; I’m sorry things ended so badly; Where did we go so wrong?” The next thing I remember was the weightlessness and detachment that I felt upon being dead. I knew in my heart that Johnny and Mirren perished with me, but until this summer, I could only hold out hope that Cady survived. Although the blaze was technically her idea and she was the one to set off the fire (I know this because logically her floor is the only one that could have trapped Johnny, Mirren, and I when it flared up) I cannot blame her. Seeing her this summer, the shell she has become, will not allow for any blame to fall on her now-frail shoulders. I talked to Johnny and Mirren on our supposed trip for donuts (really we were just hiding out because nobody can see us but Cady and I’m still not sure how this whole spirit thing works) and they don’t blame her either. We were all young, naive, stupid, and foolish; believing we could turn the world into a better place with one fire. But as Harris has shown us, houses can be rebuilt, and the world will go on; one tragedy a mere ruffle of its feathers. We, Liars, know how much the “accident” has unconsciously weighed on Cady; we see it in her frail body, her tormented mind, her migraines, her sickness, her unconscious yet massive guilt. She still hasn’t figured out the truth of that night; her mind won’t let her. Penny tried to tell her over and over in the hospital, but that night was so traumatic that Cady’s brain automatically forgets to protect her; her brain’s doing a better job than I ever did. I know she remembers a few events from summer 15, so we’re holding onto the hope that she’ll remember the fire soon, so we can go back. I’m not sure where exactly we’re going, but wherever it is, we need to go soon because we’re all feeling sick and queasy. Mirren has it the worst and stays locked up in her room at Cuddledown. The only thing that is keeping us here is Cady. We came back for her. She’s the only one who can see us; the only one who needs to remember. We came to ease her guilt, to rest her worries, ease her mind. When the time comes that she remembers (it will be soon, I’m sure of it), the only thing we Liars have to do is tell her it wasn’t her fault (it really wasn’t, it was a dumb mistake and we were young), and that we don’t blame her (we don’t really; it was an accident that happened to be tragically fatal). We just need to reassure her and then we can go back to the place where we belong now, the place that maybe one day will reunite us with Cady (but I hope that day doesn’t come soon; she needs to live her life free of guilt; free of us). I wish we could have just slept off the wine and silently stewed over the aunt’s greed, but instead I followed my motto and tried to change an evil. It seems to be an internal struggle that runs around my head; about all of the things that are wrong in the world. I can tell Mirren, Johnny, and Cady grow tired of my preaching, but they’ve grown up wealthy and educated; without a care in the world; with all of their needs met. I only wanted them to see things from my perspective, and acutely notice all of the things that are wrong and need fixing in the world. I hope Cady will not judge herself too harshly or lay all of the guilt on her own shoulders when she finds out the truth about that night. I know she needs space and time to figure this out and learn how to navigate her summers without her Liars. I understand that it will be hard for her to begin a new chapter of her life with this burden, but I also know that she is strong. She will survive and come to terms with this. Johnny, Mirren, and I have already forgiven her, and the aunties, Harris, and the littles don’t know the whole story of what happened that night. Now, all Cady needs to do is learn how to forgive herself. I hope that she will live on in her full and beautiful life; for now, she must live life for all of the Liars. Goodbye Cady, I love you so much, and that has brought our ruin. Let it also bring our salvation and freedom. With everything, everything,

- Gat.

As I headed into the basement my heart was racing. I was pouring gas in the basement, Cady was pouring gas in the middle floor and Mirren and Johnny poured their gasoline on the top floor. All I could think about would be the outcome of all of this. We either will die or we just get out with a few burns. Then we will be able to stay together longer. All of our parents will feel bad that the house is burned down and then they will just stop fighting. First I would start in the furthest corner of the basement and make it all the way to the door on the other side. At first I did tight lines of gas but then I saw that I would run out too soon so I started doing longer and more spread out lines. When I got to about the middle of the basement I started feeling hot air, so I started spreading it faster. I started seeing pieces of wood falling onto the floor, followed by fire. When the fire hit the gasoline it instantly made an even bigger fire. All I could see was just embers going everywhere. I put my shirt over my nose and headed for the door. I could hear someone yelling but I couldn’t hear what they were saying. I tripped on what looked like a book but I’m not sure what it was. As the fire got closer I could feel the hotness on my skin. I started getting worried so I got up and ran again. Then right in front of me was a huge piece of the ceiling just fell in front of me. I have nowhere to go. I am trapped. My friends won't know I’mstill in here until they go to Cuddledown and see me not there. I couldn't even tell Cady how I really felt about her. I spent so much time figuring out if I actually liked her and now I’m realizing that I actually did. I wanted to say bye to Mirren and Johnny too but I know I can’t now. As I looked around me I could now feel all of the burns on my legs and arms. I knew what was going to happen. I sat down and thought of how fun it would have been to get out of this fire. As the fire took me away it hurt really bad but I didn’t want to let it hurt me so I thought of good things and then it just went black.

The gasoline stung my nose as we coated the floors in it. My heart was racing. Ive never done something as daring as this. ¨This will all work out in the end¨ I thought to myself, plannign what i would say to Cady. All my emotions felt like they werre clumping in my throat. I loved her. I always have. The next thing i new the room started to get hot. I quickly through down the reast of the gas and starting runnning for the door. The ceeling was calapsing on me. I had no where to go. I screamed but i guess no one heard me. I was alone and trapped. The fire seemed to poar onto the floor where i stood. In the moment i froze. My brain couldnt procces what was hapening. The ambers of the fire pelted at me. Theres no one that can save me. I felt sofacted by all of the smoke. I let out a faint ¨Help me¨ as i crashed to the ground. The fire covered my whole body and all i felt was pain. The next thing i knew, i felt nothing.

“Hey guys, come look at this,” said one of the littles. All of the others came running in the door to see what happened. “Do you guys see those on Cady’s dresser?” “Yeah I do”, said all of the others at the same time. “I dare you to see what's inside.” Said one of the littles. “All of the liars are all the way don't at the tiny beach. It's not like they will find out anyways.” At the same time they all opened her drawer and saw bottles full of prescriptions . They all went dead silent and said to one another, “What do you think those are?” The oldest one there said, “I think there are drugs, maybe she's a drug addict.” The other littles just sat there in shock, their older cousin, a drug addict. “No that's impossible”, Said the youngest. They all looked at her and said, “well then how do you explain that.” “I- i don't know, i really don't know,” she said.	A little while after just sitting there in disbelief they decided to go down to the kitchen to go get a snack. They all stayed dead silent. One of them finally said, “Wow i can't believe it we need to tell someone now.” “NO” screamed the oldest, “if anyone finds out we were snooping through her room again and that we found something, we will get in so much trouble, maybe even kicked off the island.” Later that day at dinner they saw cady walk in with an angry face. They all looked at each other in horror as if they had just seen a ghost. Cady walked up to them and said, “Why would you guys snoop through MY room, stay out of my stuff, You better have not seen anything”.They could all tell she was really angry. They all looked at eachother and the littlest one said, “Yes, yes we found drugs in your room and we didn't know what to do so we kept it a secret from you we're so sorry.” Cady looked even angrier, she looked like an apple, and everyone could tell she was mad. She says to them, “This is the 3rd time you guys have snooped through my room you guys Can't do that it's an invasion of MY privacy, how about I go through all of your rooms, how would you like-”, “NO NO NO PLEASE DONT”, says all of the littles cutting of Cadence. “Well then it's settled don't ever do that again, And just for your guys information those are for my migraine i'm not an addict.” “We still think you are because why do you have so many.” “Can you guys just stop, I'm NOT a drug addict, okay.” They all agreed.	Later that night they all were sitting there and were talking about how they were positive that she was a drug addict and she was just lying about her migraine. They all knew about summer 15 but didn't believe her. “Well I don't know what to do '', said one of the littles. “I mean there's nothing that we can do about it.” “Well we need to do something, but we should probably stay out of her business, but if it's for the safety of our older cousin i'll do anything-.” Said the youngest. “NO NO NO we just got CHEWED OUT by her, i don't think we want to make her anymore angry, we should just stay out of her business and leave her alone, because even if she is it's her choice not ours” “OK so what do we now,” said all the littles at the same time. “We should all watch a movie and just forget about what happened, maybe we can make some popcorn and soda.” I don't know if mom would want us doing that, I mean it is already 9:30.” “you know what guys its fine ill get the movie ready you guys get drinks and popcorn, and if you guys finish doing that early then we will move the couches closer.” said the second youngest. “And make a fort with the cushions!!” “Yes of course we will,” said the littles.

Cady was a smart and brave girl who faced a lot of problems throughout the book. We were liars and the qute “I suffered because what happened in my accident’’ sums up the book. It talks about how her life had been filled upside down in 1 second of horror. As you read you see Cady change because she feels like her life had been taken from her white it kinda did to her memory loss and her constant pain. All of the thing se wonts love where ever gone are hard to love. Expect the ilanded and all the people on it. The time that she spent on the island was the happiest and best time of the majority of her life.

At the beginning of the book you see how Cady struggles in her life without the injured and now knowing what happened makes me feel so bad for her. When an injeel like that happens people around you act very differently. As soon as Cady goes back to school her friends feel bad but then all that pity starts to turn into hate and disgust. Aventhsl all her friends and popularity had melted away. Levare in costly pain, lonely and does not remember some of the best times in her life. She was suffering.
In the middle of the book Cady goes back to the island of the first time in a long time. Cady begant to release the island and this last summer of fun was slipping away. Of course she was going to enjoy it and spen in Wayli but she did not know what happened with Jade and where she was suffering from her injury in the first place. Cady grand forth has changed with half of his beloved dog and wife dead he started to change the island. He was rebelling phases and cutting down trees that Cady needed. She was not ok with this because she felt like he was taking away all she had. She was suffering Caddy miss the summer she forgot and the time she wasted being in pain.
In the end the summer came to the end and even though not all her answer were sold and not all the ties had filled she slite feel like she won the summer and now has to move on. No more black hair Cady just a great Caddy has and site will suffer because of her injury but has new fon perspective on life. And the site might be a sender for one tom and year but has grown up.

I walked down to the beach, hoping I’d find Cady. Sure enough, there she was, lying half in the water. I pulled her onto shore and ran and grabbed the other adults and we wrapped her in blankets. The adults and I took her back to Cuddledown, hoping we could feed her tea and get her dressed in warm clothes. When she wouldn’t stop shivering I knew that I had to do something. I took her to a hospital on Martha’s Vineyard. The doctors ran many tests on her and she had to stay for several days. We found out that she had hyperthermia, respiratory problems, and a head injury. It all happened so fast. I just wanted Cadence to get better. I stayed by her side the whole time and got a hotel room near the hospital.

After a few days I decided that it would be a good idea to head back to Vermont to get her recuperated. She layed in the dark for days. Cadence would try to contact the kids back on Martha’s Vineyard. I could tell she was missing them. All of a sudden Cady just threw up, and before I knew it, it became a constant thing. I could tell she was in so much pain but I couldn’t do anything about it. Boy, she did lose some weight. Not in a good way, either. She became slim very soon with all the vomiting. I took her for MRI’s and CT scans. They tested her for brain tumors, meningitis, you name it. They prescribed her with drug after drug. They kept prescribing her to more meds, but none of them worked. They finally diagnosed her with PTHA, post-traumatic headaches.

After about a year in Colorado, Cady’s dad wanted to see her again. He would be taking her on a 10 week trip beginning in mid June. That meant Cadence wouldn’t get to go to Beechwood this summer. I constantly told Cady things and she just forgot them. I always had to repeat myself. Cady ended up going on the trip with her dad, and from what she told me, it wasn’t great. I felt awful for her, no one should have to go through that pain.
