Over the break I decided to practice abstinence from soda. My body had to receive an hour long orientation to the soda free lifestyle. Surviving that hour was a good omen for the break. I had a plaintive look anytime I saw a can of sprite. Many times my siblings tried to infringe on my abstinence by offering me drinks. My parents tried mediating by offering me what seemed to be primordial water. I often repined about the lack of choices for drinks that weren't soda.
