Rather than it being a coincidence that Nick became Gatsby’s neighbor, Nick is actually the undercover FBI agent sent to investigate Gatsby. The coincidence is that Nick happened to be Daisy’s cousin, so Gatsby cluelessly begins talking to Nick as he does in the original however, finally Nick actually begins to sympathize with Gatsby and starts to respect him, so he tries to protect Gatsby from arrest until he can get with Daisy, but obviously it does not get that far. The one thing Nick is able to do is to accuse Tom in his final reports regarding the case with Myrtle, but Tom and Daisy have already gone away.

1) Gatsby’s dad showing up 
This scene is really not essential to this plot, Gatsby’s dad is rarely mentioned in the story thus he does not have any significant meaning to the plot.

2) Library Scene
The scene in which Nick and Jordan go into Gatsby’s library is also not necessarily important to this plot simply because the scene attempts to progress in the character development of Jordan and Gatsby but that information is not essential and in fact is generally already assumed by the audience. 

3) Nick and Tom in Mr. Wilson's Shop 
Nick is first introduced to Mr.Wilson and Myrtle in Wilson’s car shop, yet it could possibly be more effective if that scene is skipped and Nick’s first introduction to Mr.Wilson is in the final play of events; the race between Tom and Gatsby, stopping by Wilson’s shop, and finally Wilson shooting Gatsby and himself.

4) Nick moving to back to his hometown.
This scene should be removed because it contradicts the final event of our plot, Nick should rather report to his boss than report to back to Louisville.

  • Nick gets a call named boss from chicago, and at the party Gatsby servant announces a similar call from Chicago 
This scene is added in order to give the audience a sense of what is going on with Nick and that he actually has a connection with Gatsby.
  • Nick cries over Gatsby’s dead body and promises to honor his memory, and also promises to no let anyone from the FBI make Gatsby look like a dishonest men. 
This scene demonstrates that Gatsby has won over Nick and that Nick really admires Gatsby’s efforts of achieving his dream of being with Daisy.
  • Nick lies about Gatsby offering him a job, to protect Gatsby from his job 
Similarly this scene shows Nick beginning to make dishonest decisions for the benefit of Gatsby, showing his admiration and respect for Gatsby.
  • Nick moves back to chicago, and after being questioned being asked by his boss who’s behind all of the illegal business happening, he accuses Tom Buchan 
This scene is necessary to supplement Nick’s promise to Gatsby made in the other added scene. It also gives the audience some satisfaction but as Tom is not caught, there is still a tragic end to the story.
  • When Gatsby tells Nick the truth about his past, the bank heist will replace what he describes as his businesses with Wolfsheim.
This scene is essential to define the title of the movie: Gatsby and the Great Heist. The scene also explains why Nick was there in the first place, to get a confession, which evidently he does but then again chooses not to report it due to his admiration of Gatsby.
