I don't think it's inevitable, but I do believe it's a growing practice as corporations become more globalized, which allows them to integrate philanthropy into their business practices. In some aspects, there may be security in going private over public, as private entities may be able to provide more resources in a more time-efficient manner than governments can. However, corporations operate from a self-interested approach, which allows them to provide aid through an agenda that benefits them rather than the recipient country. Since they aren't elected officials, there are no accountability measures. Thus, allowing them to get away with abuses of power and promoting structural inequalities. (Rosha)

It seems like without regulatory transformation/addressing the ways neoliberalism continues to shape global economic systems in favour of private interests over collective good (while obscuring itself under the guise of benevolence) we will continue to repeat the same mistakes--it's a wicked problem with structural causes, that perpetuates in the absence of meaningful transformations.
