<title>--A SPRAIN is a stretching or tearing of ligaments, the tough fibrous tissues that connect bone to bone in the joints. Caused by twisting motion or hyper-extension (forcible) of a joint. A torn ligament causes a joint to become unstable. The most common place in the body for a sprain is in the ankle. </title>

<title>Severe SPRAINS and STRAINS may require 1-3 weeks of immobilization before exercises are initiated to the affected area, and can take weeks and months to heal due to the limited blood supply to tendons and ligaments. </title>
