The Six Pillars of Iman (Faith) are the foundation of a Muslim’s belief. Among them, three essential aspects :

Belief in Allah, Angels, and Holy Books (especially the Quran)

1. Belief in Allah

	•	Belief in Allah means believing in His existence, oneness (Tawhid), attributes and that He alone deserves worship.

	•	A believer trusts in Allah’s wisdom and follows His commands in all aspects of life.

Example:

	•	Avoiding Sins: A person tempted to cheat in an exam remembers that Allah sees everything, even if no one else does. They choose honesty, knowing that Allah rewards sincerity.

2. Belief in Angels

	•	Angels are unseen beings created by Allah from light. They have no free will and only obey Allah’s commands.

	•	Important angels include Jibril (Gabriel) (who delivered revelations), Mikail (Michael) (who controls rain and sustenance).

Example:

	•	Being Conscious of Actions: A student about to gossip remembers that angels record every word they speak. Instead, they choose to remain silent or say something positive.

3. Belief in Holy Books ( Quran )

	•	Allah revealed scriptures to guide humanity, including the Tawrat, Zabur, Injil and the final revelation the Quran.

	•	The Quran is Allah’s unchanged word, a source of guidance for all aspects of life.

	•	Believing in the Quran means following its teachings in daily life.

Example:

	•	Reading Quran for Guidance: A parent teaches their child Surah Al-Fatiha, understanding that it is a dua for guidance on the straight path.

Conclusion:

Belief in Allah, Angels, and the Quran is not just theoretical it influences our decisions, actions, and mindset daily.

	•	Trust in Allah gives hope and purpose.

	•	Awareness of Angels makes us mindful of our deeds.

	•	Following the Quran ensures we stay on the right path.

A true believer applies these beliefs to live with honesty, patience, gratitude and obedience to Allah.

Pillars of Iman (Faith in Islam)

1. Belief in the Prophets

Believing in all the prophets of Allah means accepting all the stories mentioned in the Quran an and Hadith as true including the miracles they were granted.

• Example is the event of Isra and Miraj (the Night Journey and Ascension) which demonstrates our faith in the Prophet Muhammad because it was a miraculous event granted by Allah. Believing in these miracles signifies our conviction that the prophets were truly sent by Allah with divine guidance.

2. Belief in the Hereafter

A sign of true belief in the Hereafter is how one lives their life by worshiping and obeying Allah. This belief motivates a person to perform good deeds, avoid sins, and prepare for the Day of Judgment, knowing that all actions will be accounted for.

3. Belief in Qada and Qadar (Divine Decree and Predestination)

Qada (Divine Decree)

Qada refers to what Allah has ordained for all His creations in terms of their existence, changes and provisions. It represents Allah ultimate decision in making things happen according to His will. Qada signifies the Sunnatullah (the laws of Allah in creation).

However, humans have been granted free will to make choices within the limits set by Allah. This means that while Allah has decreed certain things, we still have the ability to strive and make efforts.

Examples:

• Success: If someone works hard and puts in effort, they may achieve success.

• Marriage (Jodoh): While our soulmate is already known to Allah, we must still take action by searching and making the right choices.

Qadar (Predestination)

Qadar refers to the precise measurement and destiny that Allah has predetermined since the beginning of time, based on His infinite knowledge. Everything that happens follows the divine plan that was written before creation.

Differences Between Qada and Qadar:

1) Qadar happens first it is the predetermined knowledge of everything that will occur.

2) Qada is when the decree comes into effect when Allah makes it happen in reality.

3) Qadar does not change, as it is based on Allah eternal knowledge.

4) Qada may change, as it refers to how things unfold, and our choices can influence the outcome within the framework Allah has set.

Understanding Qada and Qadar helps us balance faith and effort. While everything is ultimately in Allah hands, we are still responsible for making choices and striving for the best outcomes in life.

Reflection on Hajj: A Journey of the Heart and Soul

Hajj is not just a physical journey to Makkah it is a deep spiritual transformation. It represents our total submission to Allah, leaving behind worldly comforts to answer His divine call. Each ritual in Hajj teaches us a powerful lesson:

Ihram reminds us of equality, we are all the same before Allah regardless of our status.

Tawaf shows our devotion as we circle around the Kaabah the center of our spiritual lives.

Sa’i between Safa and Marwa reflects our trust in Allah, just like Hajar’s struggle for water.

Standing in Arafah symbolizes the Day of Judgment where we gather humbly asking for forgiveness.

Most importantly, Hajj renews the soul. The Prophet ﷺ said that a Hajj free from sin makes us pure again like a newborn. It reminds us of our true purpose not wealth, fame, or comfort but to return to Allah with a clean heart.
