The Video gives us a simple understanding on controls and yes I agree PPE is important for our own personal protection and in certain cases it can protect us from noise, chemical spillage and also virus and cotangents.

Xue Ting: cant think of any. Is setting quick dial for emergency on handphone an example of PPE for social workers so that we can seek help immediately when we encounter danger during our home visits alone? Or attending self defense course? or wearing appropriately? or going in pairs for home visits in high risk situations? so sorry but I am not very sure in my workplace context!

From Lay Lin, I work in a health institution. From the video and the article, I understand why PPE should be the last level of hazard control because it depends on so many factors such as how the worker puts on the PPE, whether the right kind of PPE is used in different work settings, and whether the PPE are checked and ensured that they are in good condition. In our health setting where we work, we also have to ensure that our PPE is correctly worn and the right size masks are fitted to ensure . In peace time we also have work instructions on hazard control. Where engineering is constructed we have highly infectious patients in special wards to prevent the spread of their infectious conditions. Your learning session help me see the hierarchy of hazard control and how my organisation structure hazard control different setting. Thanks Mike!
