My parents

As generic as it sounds my parents really are my biggest supporters. They have never gave me the idea that a goal was too big or I wasn't good enough. They have always pushed me to want to strive to be the best version of myself and there has never been a time I needed them and they weren't there. For as long as I can remember I've always looked up to my parents as role models, especially my mom. I call her a girl boss all the time and truly doesn't know how she does it all. As for my dad I can't fathom how he knows the answer to all of my questions, like what the glowing icon on my dashboard in my car means.

In middle school I started playing volleyball and towards the end of it and the start of high school I started taking it seriously. Through playing volleyball, I learned so many important life and communication skills that helped me so much socially and emotionally. I learned the importance of being a team-oriented person. I became the captain of my team and learned so many communication and listening skills that I don’t think I could’ve learned without the real time experience. I found my voice and gained qualities I didn’t have before like confidence, independence and leadership skills.

The people really do make the place, I don't know if I would still be at High Point if it weren't for my amazing friends. Krista was a girl I had met senior year in high school, before that we had never talked, even though we have lived in the same town our whole lives. Now she is my best friend and I don't know how I went so long without her. From crying because I didn't want a random roommate to someone I consider like a sister now, my roomie and best friend, Sofie. If you told me last year that I joined a sorority in college I would've laughed in your face, but these girl are shaping me into the woman I want to be. If I never joined Kappa Delta I would've never met so many strong confident girls who inspire me to get involved and make a difference.

Although it was so many years ago I still remember my third grade teacher that made school so much fun. Her name was Mrs. Tidisco and she had a disco ball in the middle of her room and before every test she would take all of our pencils and touch them to the disco ball for good luck. It was such a silly little thing but it made me less nervous to take tests. Now I am on track to becoming an Elementary school teacher like her. I want to make learning fun for children and I hope to make a positive impact in each of their lives.

When I would go to my grandmas house as a child she would always have an endless amount of paint and other art supplies. Which is where my love of art and crafting came from, although I hate how horrible I am at drawing. I loved crafts because it was fun and I could use my creativity. As I started to get older I would craft when I was stressed or wanted a break from my phone or the tv. I got a Cricut machine my senior year of high school and made custom college apparel for all of my friends. When I entered college and joined a sorority I also made sorority merch. I knew I wanted to get involved in the sorority in some way and a position I ran for and got was button chair. So I bought my own button maker and started making my own designs on Canva.

My two younger siblings have made me the person I am today for the better. My brother Christian is 16 years old and my sister Sabrina is 14. I push myself to be a better person for them so that I can be a positive role model. From playing barbies with my sister and legos with my brother to taking them to their first frat parties, I couldn't imagine growing up without them.
