This is the same type of seed we dissected. Look at those roots!  No wonder they hold the soil in place and anchor the plant!  Taking in water and nutrients is not their only jobs. 
CHALLENGE:  Tomorrow, after the rain, go outside and pull a weed (make sure to ask parents if it’s a weed).  Let’s see who can find the longest roots. You’ll have to pull carefully so they don’t break. Take a picture or send a video with a ruler next to them. I’m going to try to. I love a good competition.
