We went to volunteer at Sai Kung Stray Friends on the 6th of May, 2024, and our next action is on the 22nd of May, 2024 to visit the dogs once more and help out around the shelter. We walked dogs, met the puppies and cleaned them up too. It was a nice experience and the dogs were very friendly. We look forward for our next visit to volunteer.

On May 14, We went on a kindness walk with Impact HK, giving out bananas, biscuits, eggs, and water out to the homeless. There were over 130+ homeless people all from different parts of the world. It was a nice experience, to understand the hardships of homelessness. We all look forward to volunteer with Impact HK again.

Over the past two weeks, and for an extra three weeks forward we have engaged directly with underprivileged kids to improve their English skills at Caritas Community Centre Wong Tai Sin. We designed the poster to spread awareness about the affects of plastic pollution on ecosystems, specifically the beaches we have in Hong Kong.

Eric and I made a game which is related to plastic pollution. This is how the game functions: Use the mouse or arrow keys to move the rubbish bin to consume the trash but if you eat the fish, you will lose your ingame health so you need to eat the trash without eating the fish.The goal is basically to consume as much trash as possible floating in the water. We hope to inspire our players to participate in a beach cleanup by playing this game.

We did a beach cleanup in Sai Kung for our Direct Action. This was an individual cleanup not collaborating with any NGO's as there were no NGO's hosting a beach clean up at the time. We managed to clean up how much we could in a reasonable amount of time. This small individual action will raise awareness for a broader action by many more!

Me (Arjun) and Pranshu went to a rocky diluted spot next to the ocean where we thought we could help clean the place from hurting the ocean, as our planned action for community project was to do a clean up of plastic to help clean the seas and oceans safe. This is a photo of us collecting some plastic and recycling it so it does not harm the ocean which is the idea that we are trying to spread across in this project. We have made social media apps and created reels based on what we have done so people can see and learn for our actions and hopefully do the same to keep the ocean safe and sound.

YWAM Volunteering

We went to an organization called YWAM, where they help tutor kids who are refugees and asylum seekers. Many of the kids are in local schools where they mostly speak Cantonese and since the kids do not know how to speak it, they struggle to keep up with the subjects. YWAM helps them catch up with homework and learn extra material to aid them further. We also helped the children with their homework and studies. It was a rewarding experience for all three of us and we have been going there every Wednesday (except for the public holidays) to tutor the kids.

Using a google form, we collected results and data to figure out what the most common misconceptions regarding poverty in KGV were. On May 6th to 16th, we hosted a Dog Drive in the GLT where students could put items in our box such as toys, beds, blankets, etc. It was such a joyful experience when we would notice someone place an item in the box as we realised people are also taking action for this issue. We were able to raise enough items in the span of 10 days to donate to Catherine's Puppies, where the dogs can enjoy the items.

On May 25th, We went to a beach at Discovery Bay, and picked up 8kgs of trash, which included plastic bottles, microplastics and other things which didn't belong to nature. It was a one-of-a-kind experience since we got to experience something like that for the first time.
