Ethnocentrism is in our lives around us constantly because we have been trained to believe that the way we live in America is superior to other countries. This idea leads us to believe that our culture, language, schooling, etc has to be the best there is because we must be the idealized version of what a society should be. This image is a symbol how strongly Americans hold on to the idea of the fact that they are superior to other countries.

The system by which we live by has always been beneficial to those who fit the description stated in the U.S. Constitution, that is, "white male landowners." It is no lie that white people have benefited far more than another race ever has in the World. They are given far greater opportunities and therefore tend to be those in power and rich. Racism in institutions is clearly prominent when minorities who are trying to dig themselves out of poverty are unable to because they do not have the privilege or the support needed to improve their lives.

Thomas Theorem is the belief that what you believe will happen will eventually happen because you manifest it. When we believe so strongly in something we often influence our actions and lead us to the result we believe we would get from the beginning. Such believe can be seen by the picture included where a child that is scared of things he cannot see but believes are there is unable to sleep.

Stereotypes are the prejudiced beliefs we have of other individuals based on what we have heard throughout our lives about them. These beliefs are often rooted in racism and tend to be very detrimental to the way certain people are treated in society. For example, in this cartoon image of Serena Williams she is depicted as being a large woman with an obvious "anger issue." This image is a result of the belief that black women are "aggressive" and can be "violent," the white player is supposedly supposed to let her win to regain peace. Obviously, Serena is not what she is portrayed to be but due to the racist beliefs of the cartoonist, she is stereotyped.

Culture Shock occurs when an individual is introduced into a new way of life that they are not familiar with. This can often occur while traveling where people have different traditions or practices that may disrupt the way you tend to live your life. This image summarizes this idea and shows by which things culture shock can be displayed in.

Our world is full of many different people of all ways of life. The way we grow up is shaped by our culture which influence our morals, our language, our food, etc; it is our understanding of the world around us. I am a Mexican-American woman who despite the fact that I was born in the U.S., lives my life by the way I grew up with my Mexican culture. It has allowed me to appreciate the way my ancestors lived and the beauty of what it is to be Mexican. This image is just one of many cultural practices in the Mexican culture, the traditional dance Folkorico.

Feminism is the belief that women have the right to be as equal as men are in society. There has been a continued traditional belief in our society that women are inferior to men and must therefore earn less, be housewives, tend to the men's needs, etc. However, the world has changed and we are constantly thriving to challenge and erase those harmful ideas from our society. This image displays multiple women that represent the strength in women and their ability to "do it" no matter what they may look like.

In many societies there has been a decline in the support for individualism, instead people try to adopt a "mob mentality" that prevents them from being an outcast and rejected by society. Thus begins the need to conform to the popular beliefs of the society such individual is in. This image is representative of what conformity essentially is, the group thinking of individuals who strive to fit in with the majority.

Your identity is often reliant through the people you are exposed to throughout your childhood. The people one is exposed to are often of the same ethnicity, therefore being from the same cultural background. One's ethnicity can manifest through their skin color, ranging from fair skinned to dark skinned but that doesn't not mean that it can be easily identified through just skin. It can be identified through various ways.
